I also stole the gear off the two guest npcs that join your party after Ch. 1, I'll not name them but you know who I'm talking about lol. I then equipped them with lesser gear from my inventory. TO doesn't have the same story, and the mechanics are slightly more complex since it's not limited to 5x5 battles, but it's just as good as FFT. I personally prefer FFT, mainly because I like the gritty look of the sprites, backgrounds and textures over TO, but TO definitely does have better spell fx. Here's a pretty good review http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cnQxkJav0o
Now imagine it being 1999 or 2000/2001(forget the actual date this shiz was released). It was a game changer for the genre. It is STILL one of the best SRPG's out there. There's so much packed into this game it's insane!
Just beat the final battle, and all I can say is Arazlam Durai (Author of the zodiac brave story) you are marvelous. The first time I played this I was too young to understand the story, what with its Shakespearean language and all but this time I truly respect the effort and time spend crafting this amazing storyline. Now to conquer "Midlights Deep" and get me a dark knight! BIG NOTE: Keep a save from before you enter the final series of battles because this will be the only way you will be able to continue playing after you defeat the final boss.
Thank you!!! I just discovered enemies can use Phenix too...and there must be an ability that let you make 2 action per turn ((
Anything involving haste can bring your party higher on the action list. Always check the AT list to see your order, this will allow you to plan your moves.
Also when casting a spell if you tap the arrow to the side of the list of spells it will show you when the selected spell will be cast.
I did not know that, I will have to give that a try next time I'm playing. I've just been "gutting" the casting times, which is not the most accurate method
no offense, but all this is explained in the tutorial. This is a complex game, if you (or anyone) don't know its mechanics from a prior release than you should really spend the time with the instructions.
So, let's see. I take the time to toss some kudos toward someone for pointing out something I'd missed in the tutorials and you take the opportunity to be an asshat (no offense), lovely. You're right, it's a complex enough game (although not that complex), and I've gone over the tutorials for anything I thought was different than dozen or so Square Titles I've played, including the Nintendo FFT titles, so I'm used to their ever slightly tweaked timing mechanics in each game, but you know what I missed? The arrow next to the spells when you choose them. Oh, you are so much better and smarter than me for having really committed the tutorial to memory great one
I want to chime in my dissapointment for the devs to read that I highly anticipated the release of this one only to find out it does not support old gen devices. I mean other games from this developer ,namely Final Fantasy 1 2 and 3 all supported old gen devices as well as chaos rings which I bet has even more memory rate than this one,and this one does not? Flat out to the devs on this one. This looks like a solid solid game no doubt. If it is updated to support more devices then you have a instant purchase from me as well as others I'm sure.
There is no multiplayer, and no mode where you have all classes unlocked and just battle. You can however keep a party of I think 24 or 25 people on your roster, unlock all the classes and abilities, save your game before the ending on a different save slot and battle in skirmishes in zones like the Deep Dungeon for a challenge everytime. There are also random battles on the map that level with you so you can continue to do those indefinitely.
My translation says, "slightly bad reputation for not correspond to the Retina Display, a free update cope. The system also見直Shimashi operation and upgrade for free So everyone please wait about two months" lol
I wonder what's the chances of being able to play this on my first gen. I wish they'd come out with a PC version
Thanks for the info. Do you know if there is a plan to implement a skirmish mode? It would be a lot of fun to be able to pick and chooses classes/rosters for AI matches.
No there is no plan for that. You can pick and choose classes/rosters once you unlock them though, and any AI battle you prep your roster every time before the battle takes place. Skip to :08 and you can see him choosing which players to bring before a fight. I do have one issue though, none of my players do their battle dialogues before a spell anymore. I'm wondering if I turned it off by accident through settings? Any ideas, or was this taken out?
I believe it was taken out. I think the PSP version doesn't have the battle dialogues either. Or did it? Im not too sure on this since I only played the PSP version for a short while.
