It doesn't matter how many times you repeat yourself, it doesn't make it true. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is an example of a digital copy being cheaper than it's physical counterpart. Where are you finding physical copies of albums as cheap as you can buy them on Amazon or iTunes? The same applies to movies and books.
Final Fantasy Tactics is the shiz. Speaking of Square putting there games on corners, you cant count how many times Final Fantasy 1 and 2 have been ported on both hands.
I'm so looking forward to this game. Some what related, does anyone know when the secrets of mana is coming out?
I don't know what retail world you're living in, but in mine, ie reality, digital downloads are cheaper, and your opinion about it doesn't make it true. For example: I own a small press business. Our first release due out in a few weeks is going to be priced at 10 bucks. The price to print is 5.23. Because it's a chapbook, media rate mail will be less than a buck. So 6.23 is my cost to print, pack and ship. If I decide to release digital downloads, all I have to do is convert it to whatever format I need it in, upload it to wherever I want to sell it. It costs me nothing aside from a few minutes of time. So I can sell it cheaper, say 4.99 and still have it be all profit (outside of whatever the company selling it for me charges which can be anywhere from 35-50%). Now the big publishers, aren't doing this. Most e-books are almost the same exact price as the physical copies with no reason for that, except they can get away with it. So sure, SE isn't selling FFT at 39.99, but 14.99 (and that was only a rumor from a pretty unreliable source) for a port is still too high-they can, or may, charge that much simply because they can get away with it.
Most economists would say the "right price" is the profit-maximizing price. If that's the price at which they maximize (revenues minus costs), then it isn't too high.
Anyone aware if this is still hitting the App store this Wednesday? I seem to remember seeing 15th September as anticipated release date...
Sep 15th is release date also Does anyone know anythinf about an ipad version? Is there a plan for it? Will it be released simoltaneously, or on a later date? Sigh
Robocalypse Phoenix Wright Theresia Cooking Mama Civilization Revolution WordJong Need for Speed Undercover The Secret of Monkey Island GTA: Chinatown Wars EVERY GAME EVER RELEASED ON STEAM EVER Digital distribution saves money and is more convenient for the consumer and publisher. It's only good market sense to lower your prices and generate more sales from more people.
That isn't true at all. While Steam does have great sales, take a look at games when they are first released. You will find that they are the same price as the physical copy. Same goes for other digital distribution platforms (Direct2Drive, EASTORE, etc) In other words, Digital Distribution does not equate to lower prices.
What is this economics 101. On topic, I am guessing this will be out Tuesday night at 11PM EST. So a little more than 24 more hours to go.
Sorry guys http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#!/notes/square-enix-dlg/final-fantasy-tactics-wol-for-iphone-ipod-touch-wrong-information-spread/433289946300
That's pretty funny, the Sept. 15th date has been floating around for weeks and just days before that date SE says that isn't the correct date. Way to be on top of things SE! SE now says the date is TBA.
=((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( this sad news has made me grow fifty extra chins. Steam only does that because the demand is enough on the day of release for the full prices (the people who want it that bad will get it). They almost always reduce prices shortly after (unlike the physical market).
I was kind of expecting that this would happen, since theY had put out zero marketing for the game since E3. Oh well -- got plenty of games in progress right now...
