Yes! Please, everyone read this! I have been trying to express this point rather ineffectually so far and I sincerely hope those making this argument take these words into account. Thanks for saying it, I agree wholeheartedly.
I agree with you. What people don't understand is that we even get a bonus discount compared to other markets. When Puzzle Quest 2 came out, it was $20 on steam and only $10 on the appstore, for example (and yeah, i bought both haha). FFT is going to be $16, but it was, as you said, more expensive when it first came out on the PSP. The fact is that we are already spoiled in terms of pricing.
The only reason why i am complaining about the price is because there are A LOT more quality games that are gonna be releases and I have to save up money for those as well. I would have gladly payed $10 - $12 on this game but $16 is too much considering I have to pay for more upcoming games.
Not when they are other quality games competing against this one when I would have bought it at $12 but I will not be buying FFT anymore...
So the reason why it is too much is because you can't afford it and several other games? The burden of choice is a terrible cross to bear. But that argument of course sounds pretty darn frivolous when you consider that you aren't saying the game is priced unfairly but that you are too cheap (not meant in a dismissive tone).
I am not cheap. I just have other games I would rather spend the money on other than FFT. I am not saying that I cannot afford it.
Have y'all never bought a console/portable game? 16 dollars is dirt cheap if you compare it to one of those. It has the depth of a console game, just appreciate it's finally here
Yes I have bought a console. But I am 14 years old and cannot go to the local store whenever I feel like it and buy 20 $50 gift cards.
I actually made the same point recently. But I reconsidered because: 1) this game is awesome. And 2) I hope this fuels the fire for other large companies (and enthusiastic indie devs) to grow the balls to trust the iOS market that we will pay reasonably for great games.
Considering that one of the definitions of cheap is stingy, and to be stingy means to be unwilling to spend or give, yes, you are cheap. I do apologize for inferring that you could not afford it because you said it was too much considering you "have to" pay for other games. If you can afford it and wont buy it, it means that either you dont want to, or you are too cheap to.
Umm... Didn't I say I could afford it but I didn't want to buy it at that price? I'm just a little confused as to why Squeenix would price this at $16 when the PS1 version is cheaper and has multiplayer.
the PS1 version does not have multiplayer, the PSP version does. The PS1 version lacks the additional content of the next two versions. The PSP version lacks the touchscreen controls, autosave function and retina display resolution that the iOS version does. The iOS version also lacks the slowdown issues still available in the PSP version. The PS1 version cannot be played legally on your iOS device either. Those reasons are why it is more expensive.
That is a sound decision! My only worry right now is how sensitive the touch controls will be for menu options. I liked what I saw in the video and how you could scroll through lists by swiping anywhere on the screen, much like FFIII. I am hoping you can touch and drag for making a selection for where to move characters, selecting the square individually will be harder to do on the iphone/ipod version compared to the ipad version with more screen real estate.
Actually, it's legal to play backups of games you already own on emulators (depending on where you are).
In the US or Japan it is not legal, and I would challenge you to provide information as to the legality of it in other countries. That myth has been propagated for years now as a defense for emulation in the states. The other side of the coin is that to duplicate the game, you are also breaking a law, so even having the disc image is illegal, even if you own the game itself.
I am not saying I have never emulated before, but I at least admit that its not legal. Boy, I am responding to every comment here now, arent I?
