No question that FF Tactics is very different from Fire Emblem (or Super Robot Wars, or War of Eustrath); my point is that WoE nailed it as far as handling a complex combat system on a touch screen and would serve as an good example for SE. And to be a fanboy for a second (and to step out on a limb, since I haven't played the GBA version of Fire Emblem), there's nothing unnecessary about the complexity of WoE's interface. The game's combat system is deep -- certainly deeper than that of FE DS -- and the UI does an excellent job of making all the options readily available and understandable, rather than forcing you to go through layer after layer of hidden menus. [/fanboyism]
I just found WoE's interface to be really cluttered and confusing at first glance. I never bothered reading instructions for Fire Emblem but could immediately figure out what everything meant, as it only had the basics you need to know, attack damage, accuracy, crit rate, HP, uses left, items equipped, and that's about it, whereas WoE has a whole lineup of numbers and HP in the thousands compared to tens. I hope tactics has a much easier to decipher interface.
My point was that Fire Emblem is intuitive because the combat system is simpler, not because it has a particularly good interface. WoE has a deeper, and to my taste, more satisfying combat system -- and an interface that matches it.
Presumably. By the way, Rebirth of Fortune, which is similar to Final Fantasy Tactics, is free for a limited time. Might as well grab that, if you haven't already. Great game to pass the time whilst waiting for FFT to come out
I have a question.... I played the fft un the playstation one, i love the game, the history and everything, this game on the ipod touch or iphone it´s gonna be the same, the game will have the same units like, lancers, or samurais, or summoner, or calculetor...? or the game it´s gonna be short..? Really it´s gonna be the same game of 1997...???
Can't they just send a sequel? This is one of my favorite games of all time, but can't really say that I'd be willing to play it all over again. Would rather appreciate a sequel or a spin-off.
Are you willing to pay $39.99 for it? More important, how many people do you think would pay PSP prices for an iPhone game? That's why it's a port, rather than a sequel.
How do you know? Also, I'm not gonna rant since I love 99c games as much as anybody. But if we really want quality, we're gonna have to pay for it.
Yes, it's probably worth it for the price but with Secret of Mana coming out afterwards I'll wait for the price drop and/or when I get an iTunes card.
Loving the game's that SE has chosen, but I hate how they don't give you much information before they come out. They just appear out of no-where on the App Store. More excited for Secret of Mana, hopefully as they are using a remake of FFT, they will be remaking or at least updating SOM.
We'll see about SM -- it did't get a make over when it came out on the Wii virtual console and there's already a mobile version in the Japanese market, so I doubt that we'll see anything new on the iPhone release beyond touchscreen support. Hopefully I'm wrong about that.
Secret of Mana is almost perfect (except for that cast-ten-thousand-spells-in-ten-seconds exploit). Why would you want to remake it?
Can we keep this bumped until the game comes out? I'm getting excited and I don't want to have to go looking for it every time
