Yes, and that's completely normal BECAUSE all you Brasilians live in soccer stadiums. It's basically... home.
You are right, there is no reason for you to buy this if we apply your logic. But you cannot apply the same logic to everyone, there are people that do see differences in the versions, whether it be controls, medium, or the inclusion or lack of multiplayer. The stadium analogy isn't a perfect fit. I feel like this is is like renting a movie, you can go to Blockbuster, Redbox, digital download or Netflix. All have different ways of offering the same products with small variations on delivery and ways to use it. They all also have different prices, which are adjusted to their respective markets.
I never owned a N64. And Ocarina of Time 3D took a lot of work to make for the 3DS. The team behind it, Grezzo, was given the source code for the N64 version and spent a lot of time fixing old bugs, redoing the art asset (2d and 3D), implementing the 3DS features (3D, motion, etc.). And back on topic, the price issue is going to be controversial no matter how you look at it. As much as I love seeing FFT coming out on all platforms, I wish Square Enix tried creating a true sequel, something I feel like they cannot do now.
I agree with you here. I could play FFT again on my PSX, but I really enjoy the difference when playing something on my iPod with the touch screen, so I feel it will be worth it.
I hope other companies step up and release higher quality games for a more premium price. So many games seem dumbed down because of the price range of the AppStore. You know people are being babies when a one dollar difference can make or break the sales of an awesome game (not just this game but in general). Casual Games - stay one dollar! Premium Games - dont be afraid to break the barriers for high quality! 10-15 bucks is completely reasonable, if not even a steal!
Never played this when it was out. For some reason I never had the chance to play this when it first came out, so I'm psyched to hear how much content there will be available for 16 bucks.
Yeah, but with the iPhone version being $15.99, it is likely the iPad version is going to be $20. Seems like you could buy buy an old PSP system, complete with the game for about that....
See: http://blog.lescapadou.com/2010/09/why-you-dont-want-to-make-universal-app.html Not to mention, if they did universal it would mean cramming three sets of graphics assets into one app instead of just two...can you imagine how huge that would get? It supports 3rd generation devices.
There are two ways it is relevant: 1. You have the option to watch a movie in any of these ways, and each offers it's own merits, which would represent those who don't own it at all. 2. You have already seen a movie, watched it in a theater. You have already paid to see it once, why would you spend money on it again? to further complicate matters, what does it matter if one version is different from another if you have already seen it once? Additionally, many people have bought a movie, then turned around and bought it again at a later time on DVD, downloaded it, or bought a special edition, extended edition, or limited edition. My analogy represents buying the same media in several different forms on several different platforms, which is the exact same situation we have with FFT.
Calling this release a premium game is an insult to the iOS platform, and really highlights the inferiority complex of so many iDevice gamers. It is a retro/budget release and should be viewed as such in any objective context.
Heres the way I see it: You buy a VHS copy of the movie "Aliens", its great, and you truly do love it. But then a few years later, they start selling the DVD copy for a much more expensive rate then the VHS copy you had. Really, not much has changed in the two versions, other then some more options on how you view the movies, and some touch ups to quality. At the end of the day, no matter how much cheaper the VHS is, I will always go for the DVD. Why? Because even if it is more expensive, I know I will be getting the best version on the DVD version. As for those who ask whether or not its worth buying the DVD even though you have the VHS, well thats up to you, some don't feel the need to upgrade. At the end of the day, that movie came out in VHS form for $30 originally, it now costs $10 on vhs, while on dvd it may cost $15... you are still getting it cheaper then what you originally bought it for Anyways thats my 2 cents!
