Id just like to point out that i am the only Bit.ly user who has an actual term used in the URL. Defcon....don't know why im posting this or why i got so excited.
At least 10 more days though, assuming they want to release it on a Thursday. Unless Apple approves it in two days!
Well I love strategy games!!! I'll buy it but can someone help explain what you do in the game? And how long was the original game?
I'm not having a problem with that. Only means that I'll wait for my purchase until there is an iPad version, unless they announce its going to be universal.
Amazing article!!! How did they get all that info from Squeenix?! And the stuff they mentioned about the other games coming out soon was awesome as well!
For final fantasy 3 is the iphone version playable on ipad.. or is it just better to buy ipad version..
Only way Square are getting two payments from me is if they have a seamless cloud based save sync system implemented
Square already announced via their Facebook page that the iPad version would be coming out about a month later and there would be no universal version. Anyone wondering what the gameplay is about, there are plenty of movies on YouTube. Be aware that what we are getting is the revamped PSP version called "Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions" but without the nasty "slowdown" effect. Most YouTube movies are the original PS version called "Final Fantasy Tactics". The main differences between the FFT and FFT:WotL versions is that the text was cleaned up (English translation corrected and improved) and cel-animation cut scenes were added. EDIT: Also, I believe another difference to FFT:WotL is that it is more widescreen to account for the PSP screen. The original FFT was fullscreen only. And the version we're getting on iOS should be basically the new "definitive" version as the character portraits have been redrawn at a higher resolution, the "slowdown" problem with the FFT:WotL version has supposedly been fixed. I just hope that none of the FFT:WotL content has been dropped from the PSP version.
Now I'm in a quandary. This finally came out on PSN last week, and I'm nearly 12 hours in already. Now I can't decide if I want to pick up the iPhone version and start all over, or just keep plugging along with it on the PSP. In the spirit of full disclosure, FFT: WotL is in my top 3 favorite games of all time. I've already beaten it twice over the years (once on PS1, once on PSP) and have spent probably north of 150 hours in Ivalice. However, while I do want to support Squeenix for porting it over to iPhone, I'm not sure I want to double dip (both in $$ and gameplay hours) so close to each other. I'm also a bit concerned about this actually being playable on a touchscreen. There's typically quite a bit going on onscreen, and I think it could potentially be very challenging to make it all work. Of course, my biggest worry is what having an iPhone version of one of my favorite games would do to my productivity at work. What to do, what to do...
For what it's worth, the few tactics games that have made it to iOS have all been very playable on a touchscreen.
