ahhh I'm really disappointed that it continually gets delayed. I don't even believe their "new" release date. How many times has this happened? I guess they're polishing it up but customers hate it when their games keep getting pushed back many times until you just think they're not gonna release it anymore
What a cool pic from S/E's fb site: Here is some additional info: Is the slow-down problem solved? -Yes! It's definitely faster, comfortable to play. We'll show it in the trailer or a movie clip. Is it a universal app? -No. We'll release iPhone ver and iPad ver both. When will you release the iPad version? -Now we plan to release it 1 month later than iPhone version. Supported 3GS? -Yes! Absolutely! 3G also supported? -No. We tried to support 3G but it was toooo slow to play the game. Does it have the Multiplayer mode. -Nope. We had to cut it off for iOS devices. Add-ons? -No. We don't plan to release add-ons now. Did you add the autosave function? -Yes! Exactly! If you get a phone call, the game will be automatically saved and you can get back to the game immediately. Honestly...it took much time to add this function. It made the dev team exhausted. They now point out to a date from July, 20th to end of July. Seems as if they have gone through lots of trouble to port that game, especially with this auto-save. I am happy they've added it, otherwise a lot of people would start flaming them immediately. Imagine yourself playing for one hour on one scenario, haven't saved manually and suddenly you get a call. You would bite into your iDevice. People should stop blaming S/E, there can always be problems with an OS or other stuff. I'm sure they're doing their best to bring a good working port as fast as they can. S/E delivers no half-baked shit and I am glad about that, even if it means that we have to wait for another while. And... it is not like that we haven't to play anything else. 98% of all iDevice gamers are having a game backlog.
How hard is it to develop a simple script that saves where you left off? How many games have something like this?
Errr... don't forget that Chaos Rings, for example, has been built from the scratch for iDevices, no prob. But FFT is a full port and this option wasn't planned before. I guess they had to fix up a lot of code. And I bet that some steps produced even more bugs they've had to fix. A script like this has to save all positions of your units or troops, health, equipment, you personal status, money and lot of things more. But if you are so good at that, why dont'cha fix it quickly for them in a matter of hours so that we all can play the game?
Haha fair enough, I guess the fact it's a port does make it more difficult to work in iOS specific functions. I'll send them an e-mail, but I'm almost 100 percent sure their not going to give me access to the game's code.
What's the difference between 3G and 3GS? Is it safe to assume that my iPod Touch 3G 32gb will not support Final Fantasy Tactics? Novice question, I know. Thanks in advance for any answers.
I think you will. In terms of iPod Touch, the 'G' is for generation. So your device is on par with the iPhone 3GS. To make matters more confusing however is that an 8 GB iPod Touch 3G is only on par with 2G devices, or iPhone 3G's Too many G's
SE also adds (in the comments) that retina display is supported. I wonder if that is just for character portraits and cut scenes or did they upres the sprites as well.
For sure, mate. They've added the quick save to FF3 too, afaik, but that wasn't as complicated with only 4 characters and a few coordinates. The quicksave in FFT has to do 10 times more work. Squeenix know that they will make lots of mone with this title on the iOS, more than their other titles, so I guess they'll make sure this is a good release. I learned from facebook that they've overhauled a heap of graphics and character portraits, modified the engine heavily because the game was way too slow before, added autosave functions and had to beta test this (and because the game is huge, that must be a heck of work, too). And don't forget the disasters in Japan, guess they've also added some time. Comparing all these things, I think it's no wonder the port took so long.
Your device has the same core as the iPhone 3GS, so it will run fine. Only the 3G iPhone (and lower gens) aren't supported. You will have no problems.
Yo guys were right. Storyline of ff6 > ff7 I can't stop playing 6 it's sucked me in! So much fun lol. My friends are all like dude all youve been doing lately is playing on your freakin phone...
