Ok. I love FF7 and its characters too. I just don't care whether I play as Cloud in a game that has nothing to do with FF7 or its characters. But hey, ya do whatcha do. I wasn't trying to flame you.
I believe I read that the iOS port will be from the PSP version which I think has Cloud and the other additions that were present in that version. And I can wait a little longer if needed - just discovered Shining Force on iOS so I should be set with a decent tactical RPG for a little while...
I hate this kind of patronizing comments... We are on a FFT forum thread, and modern language embraces superlative talking... Of course life goes on, we are not sitting on a dark room, staring to a wall, doing nothing but waiting for FFT to come... Phrases like "I'm dying for this game!" are just a way to express how much we would enjoy playing it... I would...

Though, you are right, I see it now. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.appbank.net%2F2010%2F11%2F09%2Fiphone-news%2F185940.php Translated : "FF is being developed to tactics early next year. This kind of game it is well suited to the iPhone." (I'm sure thats a little broke but still has promise assuming their source of info is correct)
Relax people! We've been waiting for over 10 years, I can wait a few months more ... My God, it does feel frustrating though!
You know, sometimes I get this thing against a softhouse, that is not easy to justify, but the feeling is there... Square really dropped the ball on this one, at least with the iPhone community... I will try to explain why: 1) They mentioned loud and clear that the release date would be on September 15th, during E3. On the release date, they said that everybody got it wrong... Come on... Even if this wasn't true, they could have clarified this before... They have a PR team, right? Maybe only to their console games, but not a soul for iPhone? I don't know... 2) FFT is not a complex game. See how long it took to create the beautiful conversion of Lego Harry Potter? Probably the same level of complexity, since it's not a Menu-based game... 3) Despite Chaos Rings, Square's releases are ports of very simple games, or just very amateur crap... Seriously, it's shameful that a softhouse like Square releases games like that terrible tower defense game, or the make a noise """RPG"""... You know what I believe, deep down? That Square's team responsible for iPhone games consists on a bunch of amateurs, that are paid just to put any kind of stuff on the AppStore; and a smaller team responsible for Chaos Rings, and high profile ports (it wouldn't be surprised if they outsourced the dev of CR)... The people from Chair/Epic took 4 months to develop Infinity Blade... I don't know if it'll be in the same league as FFT, but this only shows that when a company is interested on exploring a new media, they don't linger (look id, for example). They respect the media and community giving 99% of accurate information. The only info we have from FFT is a dude holding an iPhone with a sad mockup of a game supposed to be released, and a trailer that my 5-years-old sister (well, she's 24 now) could do on Movie Maker. Call it rant, or that I'm a troll bastard, but as I mentioned above, it's more a feeling then a justifiable critic.
You brought up some interesting points there, meatz666 1. Yeah, bad PR. 2. Well, FFT is much more complex since its game mechanics are way more complicated (stats, leveling, monster data, randomness, etc.). It is simpler graphically, but I think they're going to have to redraw the whole sprites if they were going to release the game in retina display resolution. After all, the game was designed for a much lower resolution platforms. 3. Well, your feeling about CR is actually right, it was developed by a different game studio, SE is just the publisher (who gets the whole credit, BTW. my not knowing the name of the game studio who actually developed the game is evident of that). NOTE: googled it, the developer is Media.Vision (poor sods, if you ask me). My opinion is that the iPhone department down at SE is made out of monkeys. The same type that runs FOX network.
You're a troll bastard! Because you know somebody on the internet had to do that... Personally, I'll put it down to Japanese civilisation being completely different from Western civilisation, meaning the approach they take to certain ways of releasing product or putting out information is way off and foreign to someone living on this end of the world. Don't underestimate these differences!
