Yeah I mean cmon, give bulk pricing at least. Not that they will get my money. (I dont like complete gamble style spin the wheel type crap. $50 for 1 5 star? Disgusting.)
The updates come every couple of weeks or so in Japan, so you shouldn't have to wait too long. I hope they keep the same schedule, if not in specific content then in pacing, because otherwise launching in 1.0 form doesn't make sense. On the other hand, kind of refreshing to "clear" a F2P social RPG, isn't it?
I believe Sundays are the "XP" related event, so that might be a good time for that. (Not sure if the enemies there give boosted XP, or if you just get a Growth Egg every time you go through a full set of those quests.) Alternately, if you can somehow manage even the first part of Elite Zanarkand, that'd probably be an XP Farm for the FFX duo, even if you had to retreat immediately afterwards. But odds are your Tidus and Wakka would "swoon" if anything so much as looked at them in there (Difficulty 17), and I don't think KO'd characters get XP. ----------------------------------------- Launching in 1.0 form is partially for convenience (it's very easy to maintain a game half a year behind) and partially for sales. If all the equipment was flooded in all at once, they'd get a lot less impulse buys than if they advertise "new equipment with limited time boosted chance to obtain" every couple weeks. But yeah, it's nice that there's two levels of play dedication for this. If you just want the trip down memory lane you can clear the regular stages (and almost entirely on Auto) and call it a day. And then there's the Elite stages of "I've hit this stupid Guard Scorpion for over 20,000 damage and he still doesn't care how is this possibly only Difficulty 14" stages to tackle afterwards.
I definitely get why they launched in 1.0 form in terms of content, but I'm a bit surprised they launched it that way in terms of UI and stuff like that. Feels weird to roll back features added in from player requests like being able to preview the boss before going into stages or adjusting the battle speed. But maybe it's complicated, I don't know. I just sling words.
I think it's just for sake of convenience. If it was coded so a particular event took place while the game was in Version 1.53 or whatever, why rock the boat and change things? The majority of their audience won't know they're missing features like not seeing the game number your equipment comes from in the Inventory screen. But EVERYONE would notice a game crash caused by the game looking for a nonexistent world/character due to a piece of wayward code that wasn't adjusted. I won't deny it's basically treating the English version as a mirror world afterthought.
They made quite a few changes anyway, though. And I do think they undershot how much content to launch with, judging by reactions here and elsewhere. They probably would have been better off starting with the content of the second or third update, especially since they ran into the same problem (and initial complaints) in Japan at the start. Plus, the events are going to be running in a different order anyway, or so the producers told me. So I'm not sure why they couldn't just use the latest version of the game minus that content. You're right most won't notice, but some have and some will, just as they did in Japan. Anyway, this is all nit-picking for the most part. In a few weeks there will be plenty of stuff to do and this will be in the past. And the UI improvements *will* come, it's just a matter of when. I just hope they don't lose people in the meantime because they only put a day or two's worth of content in the initial build. The App Store moves fast, after all.
Did finish the main content, so I'll likely be shooting for elite dungeons, daily quests and leveling my characters. I do hope they add more characters from IV and VI, though. I'd really hoped for that.
Shaun, once again. An expert opinion - does it make sense to roll for Relics during this launch event, or is it better to wait for a better one? Thanks
Every two weeks would definitely not be something to complain about I just hope they stick with this game. Seems to be doing pretty well so far here in the west doesn't it? I honestly wish all freemium games were done this well. There is really no pay wall and I when I first started my friend and I couldn't even find out were to pay and support the devs. Haha usually they have banners saying "SPEND MONEY HERE" or at least a little + icon
About the same for me. Got the 5 star shield. Wouldn't mind spending a little money but $3 for one relic roll seems hardly worth it. Any reason to buy? Reason to wait?
I pulled like 9 times got like 2-3 4 stars so meh. Just farming up on gold/xp/materials now. Only thing I noticed is that if you combine two similar items my 2 3 star armlets don't go to 4 stars it just raised the LVL cap for it to 15 from 10
Just wishful thinking, but it would be awesome if it some point they add cross game special dungeon and let you get some chronotrigger or SoM characters. I would make little girl sounds.
The Buster Sword is really great if you can get it. Paired with Cloud you get basically the 2nd-strongest character in the game to date even in Japan. If you don't want that sword, feel free to wait. I tend to roll whenever I have five Mythril, regardless of the event. 5-star gear will never go to waste.
