It's sad that we haven't heard any official word from SE regarding the release date. The anticipation is killing me...
Announcement in maybe 15 Minutes? March is still long... can also be that it will released in two weeks.
We'll never know... there's a chance that they might push it back same way they did with final fantasy tactics. Crossing fingers here though. One can only hope they release the game tomorrow to coincide with the GDC.
Yeah! As a surprise - nice idea! Like the release of Guitar Hero. totally unexpected and all of a sudden. Girls, you all know... it can pop up at any minute of the 43.200 minutes left in March 2011! (OMG... I can't wait 43.000 minutes for FF3. Can't even wait 60 minutes. )
No vid but nice compared screenies: http://www.siliconera.com/2011/02/23/lets-compare-final-fantasy-iii-iphone-and-nintendo-ds/
When Secret of Mana came out it just suddenly appeared on App Store, that's how Square Enix likes to roll I think.
Don't wanna depress you, but release date could also be March, 31. To be serious: When Square/Enix announces games, then mostly 3 games before release. So it could take easily another two weeks for FF III to appear.
Does anyone know if difficulty adjustments were made to the DS port of Final Fantasy IIIj? I know the newer polishes of Final Fantasy I & II were released with reduced difficulty in some cases. Aside from visual upgrade does the DS edition have any other alterations? Edit: At least one review on Amazon of the DS game says "For some the game might provide too much of a challenge, to the point of frustration" or "it starts off much harder than it should." Apparently a high enemy encounter rate. "FFIII is also Wi-Fi compatible. In it, players can send messages to other players global, using an internet port. It isn't much, but it's something!" One guy says there are no save points in long dungeons and another says 50-60 hours of gameplay while someone else says the gameplay itself is too short. "I love how this version is very true to the Japanese famicom original" Still buying...
I don't know how hard the original was but I beat 3 on the DS and it is fairly difficult but not too bad. Expect to grind several times though. I personally didn't mind it at all though (I thought 4 on the DS was much harder).
To answer my own question 2 posts above here are the changes in the DS remake from NES original per wiki; although they are minor since it's "a total overhaul using the Nintendo DS's 3D capabilities even though the layout of the dungeons and towns would remain identical to the original." - Job System: "There were also overhauls made to the Job system, including the re-balancing of the classes, the addition of new abilities, a new "Bare" ("Freelancer" in the US version) class that became the default Job class for the characters at the beginning of the game (Onion Knight became a separate class with its own advantages and disadvantages), and it was changed to use of Capacity Points. Unlike the original Famicom version, most of the Jobs remained useful for the entire game; the ultimate Jobs, the Ninja and the Sage, were rebalanced to stay on the same level as the others." - Character Development: "Ryosuke Aiba, the art director of Final Fantasy XI, was hired as the new art director. Akihiko Yoshida was hired to revamp previous character designs, and the game changed the main characters into developed characters. The characters were given default names: Luneth (Runesu), Arc (Arukuu), Refia (Refia), and Ingus (Inguzu), Luneth, Arc, and Ingus being male and Refia being female. The characters were given their own background and development, but it would not change anything in the main storyline."
