8 hours in and i'm loving every minute of it! Just finished part 1 of chapter 2 (Dragoon), I missed the bonus dungeon though, final boss of it was really tough.

If anyone is a fan of the job system and 4-9's ATB system this should be a instant buy for you. The job system is amazingly well done and super polished compared to FFV or FFTactics.

I'm part way into Chapter 1 so far but I have to say this game is great! The story picks up and the job system is nice! The music is a compilation of everything great from other final fantasy games as well as a few remixes and additions, but it's fantastic stuff. I forget I'm playing this on an iPhone and I feel that the price is worth it. I'm sick of all the garbage we are getting on the app store, pay a dollar, than get screwed with near mandatory IAP or advertising. I want more quality real games like this on my iOS device and if that means that we need to start paying more for premium titles than so be it! The app store should have a section for low cost/free casual games and a section for us gamers who want a real game. I really think that iOS has a chance and will eventually takeover the handheld PSP/3DS market, but in order for this to happen it needs to get full fledged games and cut the IAP/timer/freemium/ads crap that plague most games now!

You get to select jobs in Chapter 1, as far as the team members, it seems to have a large cast you will get to play your team members from the beginning again so the time you spent on leveling them and equipment is not wasted! =D

You can change your job any time you want. The game is based between a light and dark realm. So you will switch back and forth between the two sets of characters. I just made it to part 4 of chapter 2. I had a 14 hour ride in a car today and played it the whole time. Lol if you want to change a characters job just tap job in the menue then select your character and press change job.

You can go back to the bonus dungeon. Just be carefull. The boss in there is an absolute beast. And when you kill him he becomes one of your summons.

Has someone bought the complete package yet? Is the story unique or are there similarities on other FF games?
Are you playing always with the same characters or do they change in the other chapters?

Six hours in and completely hooked. The story is new and completely great so far. I would say if you in any way like FF then you will not be disappointed with this game. It's the first 'proper' final fantasy game for many years !

The story is pretty good, it shares the spirit of the classic FF games, but it's unique in its own, the character desing is also pretty good, they all have their own personalities.
Yes, You are constantly changing characters through the game.

Just started playing this last night and, relatively high price aside (the game costs more than FFXIII-2 :p) it really is a pure Final Fantasy title! Not "yet another remake", not a retelling, an original title that has been ported from mobiles, like "The After Years" I'm a few hours in and I'm having an absolute blast the likes of which I've not felt since Squaresoft was in control before Enix poisoned and destroyed them. I love the FFIVCC-esque visuals, love the arranged audio, the job system is nice and deep and there's a ton of characters to play.

Yeah, I'd definitely recommend this to FF aficionados.

Agreed. As an oldschool FF fan, I bought this instead of getting FFIVCC on PSN. I stopped playing FFVIA to spend time with this. If you got into the series on NES or SNES, do not hesitate to buy. It is the type of game you've probably been buying (and rebuying) on portables for years. If your definition of FF begins with X or higher, this may not be for you. If you started on PS1, try the prologue and see. I mean, outside of horrific polygons, FFVII is a borderline remake of VI. Meaning that the game design in that era wasn't too different from SNES, only the visuals and summon mechanics.

Haven't played FF since 8 and I must say this is pretty nice old school FF.

Best part for me is Auto mode :D

Are the bonus dungeons easy to miss?

    I second this request !

Any info on the location of the first bonus dungeon gladly appreciated. I'm at the start of chapter 2 and don't really want to miss the dungeon as a good opportunity to grind some nice equipment !

I played the prologue and chapter 1.. Please tell me the game gets longer, because I breezed through those and never broke a sweat.

It took me about 6 hours + to beat the prologue and chapter 1. I wouldn't call chapter 1 a cakewalk, but it was made considerably easier by the overpowered red mage who accompanies you through most of the chapter. He's gone in chapter 2, which has made it quite a bit more challenging.

Somebody wrote earlier that chapter 2 is much longer than chapter 1.

Just unlocked the complete package after finishing Bastion, the comments on this thread regarding the job system are what tipped me over to get this. FF IV and V are right after VI and VIII as my favorites in the series so if this is anything close to those experiences I think the price will be justified.
