To quit to the main menu, which doesn't need to be done often but I use it if I need to reload a save, open the menu, configuration or "Config," scroll down, careful not to accidentally hit the booster options below, and at the bottom of the scrolling Config menu should be "Title Screen." Tap that and it should take you back to the Main Title Screen/Menu. Abilities are tied to equipment. Once the equipment is equipped, equip the available abilities, and then the AP points you acquire during battles will give each equipped ability experience and once fully learned, you can equip a different piece of equipment to learn more. Any ability that is fully learned (full experienced) you'll be able to use even if that piece of equipment isn't equipped. I think that's how it works.
Thanks for the instructions. So you have to equip abilities after you equip the equipment? I have to try that. Also advancing the abilities is not tied to using the abilities but just winning the battle? I wish there was a PDF manual that explained this. Thanks for helping me out.
Thanks for the faq link. I actually found that abilities are explained a bit better by a tutorial moogle when I got a little farther into the game.
I've got the guide (which is one of the worst strategy guides ever) and have played quite a bit of FFIX before, but I still use this guide. It helps me remember what I've got to do and helps me not miss things that may be one-time-only things.
I would highly recommend this game. I only use touch controls on my iOS games and this one is one of the best, but the absolute best if comparing all the Final Fantasy ports (in every aspect actually). Actually I haven't played this game for a while because I got stuck. Not that I couldn't beat or find something but I got to the first side boss and though he's too strong for my party I found a way to beat him online. That isn't the problem but I've been trying to steal some Demon armor from him that's super rare (less than 1% chance). Probably spent 4-5+ hours already and they aren't even logged because I have to reset my game when I run out of time, since there's a timer during the boss battle. I don't know what to do at this point. I really want that rare armor but damn, I've already spent way too much time mindlessly stealing from him. Starting to get fed up..
After the last update I did something dumb and didn't back up my Cloud save so had to start over but actually now I don't mind as I'm enjoying it all over again and grabbing some things I forgot last time. Also taking it slower this time and playing the card game more. This is a great FF game and they way they made it easy to save any time you can play it great on the go.
The touch controls seem pretty good. But I kind of skipped the frog catching mini-game. at least in the first area, because it seems difficult to play with the controls. The digging game with Chocobos seems fine, though.
There was an update posted just now and it looks like Mfi controllers are working now. At least on my Nimbus. The buttons work properly.
The update says it corrected the Marcus to Eiko stones when Eiko joins the party. The interesting thing is exploiting that bug is ALL over the faqs from the original game. I didn't bother trying, since it supposedly takes many many hours, but I wonder how many people in the future will still try to exploit that, only to find it was useless. . But now they're actually changing the content of the game, more than just a "port." I think that's a good thing with this company.
Just play the game. I use the FAQ tips, but I haven't gotten any of the super rare items, and the difficulty isn't really that bad. So why bother trying forever for an item you don't actually need?
I'm surprised they went into such detail with that and didn't mention that they fixed the mfi controller support.
Yeah, it is such a surprise that they can and will makes these changes, and quite fast. Hope they're being compensated well by SE and lined up to do another port. Because even if their next one is FFVIII, I'd buy it in a heartbeat if they did it.
Yup, the MFi controller support is complete, from menu to gameplay, which is very much the same along with other FF ports.
I tried it yesterday with me steel series nimbus and it didn't comply to anything in FF 9 on the new Apple TV. I can control Apple TV via the nimbus but not the game (coming via Airplay). What am i doing wrong?
The game is running on your ipad/iphone so you have to pair your controller to that device. It won't work if it is paired to the Apple TV even if you are using airplay.
Oops forgot to back up my save data to the cloud Starting over now for the 4th time It's my fault oh well fun game
Oh no! Do you keep deleting it in order to update to the newest version? Man, I feel for you. But at the same time, I love the first few hours of this one so much!
