hmmmm, I guess I'M in the minority using the classic scheme. lol I guess I just find the blue pleasing to the eye!
Haha, I like the grey one as well, the blue is just too bright. What a great game this is. I've been hooked since launch, and even if I've finished it just yesterday, I've already started a new game to see everything I've missed. I must say, those guys at silicon studio Thailand really nailed it with this port. Touch controls are almost perfectly done, the models have been revamped and look pretty good, and the locations have been enhanced. Even if there's a glaring difference between the 3D models and the hand-drawn locations, it just accentuates the feeling that we're watching a play, or, pretty much playing a play. Which is very much in tune with the game's theme. I tried to get into FF VII since, but the contrast is just too large, everything is just too pixelated, and the touch controls on that game....ugh. Btw, there's an update up, it fixes, among others, a quite nasty bug with Vivi and Reflect x2 which would erase all of his ability points, making him very much unplayable. Says nothing about mfi support, though, and it isn't a Delta update, so it seems we'll need 4gbs of free space....again. Damn my cheapness and my 16gb device.
It is a delta update, actually...Odin bless Squeenix's little heart. The thing with delta updates is they don't download the game's entire data over again, but still need the entire space to update. There's no chance in hell my connection would allow me to download half this update (say a gig) in just over 30 mins. It's certainly above 100 MBs; but it's DEFINITELY not 2 GB.
Oh, ok, didn't know that. Thanks for the correction! I still need some space though, and I'm not entirely sure how am I going to go about that. If I plug it in to iTunes, will it allow me to update with about 2.5gb of free space? Or do I need those 4gbs freed up anyway?
I just deleted stuff to make 2GB free on my phone before attempting the update. But it worked just fine with only 2GB free. Might have worked with less free for all I know.
Yeah, something weird definitely happened with my download, because it told me I had not enough space, even if I had 2.5gb free. Now, after the failed attempt, storage management is only showing 500mbs free, the update is still listed as "pendent" but won't let me download it, and I can't figure out where those 2gbs went to. I guess I'll just reinstall the game and see if that restores me my precious space. Edit: Yep, that fixed it. Deleting the 4gb FFIX freed up 6.5 gbs of memory. Now to re-download...
These devs for FF9 never cease to amaze me. That's a pretty good bug fix list. App icon is sharper (could be a tad more comparing it to FF7 but it's a lot better than before). AND small change not mentioned is that you can start the game faster (tapping on the warning screen gets you to the start menu instead of waiting for the CG movie to play - will save you a good chunk of time). If this is the doing of those Thailand devs, I'm begging them to handle FF8 and every other iOS port.
Agreed. I wonder if they can make it possible to use the black boarders as overlay inputs for moving around etc.
I definitely wouldn't mind waiting for the time it takes this one developer to make each port following this one! And YES, please let the controls work in the borders with the next update. That would be awesome.
The auto-save function remains the same as it was, and what a great feature that is. Mainly because longer sessions of playtime seem to result in an inevitable crash.
That's great! How about my current auto saves progress will be there after the update? Or it wil go missing?
This is probably my biggest want besides the fixing of that icon. Though I worry that it may be too much for them? I've actually ever seen a game change the layout within the borders to outside the borders. I hope they can prove me wrong. Has anyone emailed SQE about the border controls? Or even message Thailand Silicon directly? I had to email them about the icon to make sure the devs knew about it.
My autosave was retained after the update, but I didn't trust it and waited until I hit a hard save spot before I updated just in case.
