I finally had 20 minutes to myself to play on iPad Pro over lunch today and I think it looks great so far. You have to understand the story of the codebase and assets to realize that it's not a remaster -- those are the original backgrounds, it's what they had to work with /shrug. Yes, the backgrounds are slightly blurry, but it's not a deterrent for me at least. The HD version of the characters and text look great, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. This will be my first playthrough of FFIX. 20 minutes is a drop in the bucket, but it feels like it'll game nicely, even w/o my MFi controller. I think I'll enjoy it better on the big screen vs the small Vita port in the long run as well.
Wow. I didn't know that. That really sucks. I guess I'll just wait a couple of years longer and play it all at once. Edit: I just read up on this and each episode is going to be a full sized game in itself! Colour me excited again!
http://m.ign.com/articles/2015/12/07/psx-2015-final-fantasy-7-remake-will-be-a-multi-part-series But it does say each episode would have as much content as a full game and from what I have heard it could cost 45-60$ an episode.
I've got the first two chocographs and I'm curious if the third is in the Chocobo Forest? Or is it somewhere else like Chocobo lagoon later on.
In each chocobo area the moogle will tell you when there are no more to be found on that map. I believe the first one consists of roughly 10 or 12.
Feel the same way when I play on my pro! This truly has to be the best port square enix has released on iOS
Got it so I'm gonna be playing this hot cold Chocobo game for a while then Is it something you can move on from and come back or do you need to do it all right then? I've been playing it for over an hour since I found 2 and 3 just won't show up Because I'm now kind of tired of doing that game I will go grind a min at south gate and then come back to it again. The virtual stick disappearing a few seconds finally has an effect on you w hot and cold game it's not end of the world but it can frustrate you some since it's timed.
You can always come back later to these mini games. I agree about the joystick, it's the only place I've really found it a nuisance. Sometimes you end up digging the same spot fee different times just because the joystick didn't appear. However, I love the hot cold game!
Don't get me wrong I like the game and Anything Chocobo I just needed a break and then now I'm getting one after another but the ones I am getting now are grey so now I'm seeing you don't get them in a certain order.
Bit the bullet and got the game. The graphics are a mixed bag on the iPad Pro. Backgrounds are indeed blurry, expecially compared with the character graphics, which are crystal clear. It can at times make it a bit harder to see interactive items like doors. But it is not as apparent in battle scenes as the characters there are the main focus. At best I would say the background graphics are what you should expect of a game from 2000. And certainly the Pro probably makes it a bit more noticeable than say on a regular iPad. But once you get dragged into the game, the blurry graphics become less of a concern as the story unfolds. Constant auto saving as well as manual saves, excellent touch controls and UI designed for touch screens all help make up for it imho. I can understand requesting a refund because of those background graphics though. But I certainly wont be.
Bought the game this morning and finally got to play. It looks absolutely beautiful. The graphics are amazing! The backgrounds obviously don't match the quality but I honestly don't think they're that bad. They're not bad enough that I could see anyone refunding the game over it. It almost looks even "art-sy" in a way. The interface is what this ff has over every other ios release. WOW. Seriously. If I gave ff7 a 6/10 for being a lazy port I would have to give this a 9.5/10. Some button pressing is made awkwardly but most of it feels really good. And that icon really needs a fix. When I look at it on my homescreen it looks incredibly blurry and seems like the homescreen is out of focus. Overall, the best port SQE has put out. It makes the FF7 port look like junk to be frank. I'll have a hard time going back to play that one when this one is completely redesigned for touch. * only thing better about the ff7 port is that you can start the game faster - too many logos and wait times in this app start up.
The top right one is fast forward, even when you're controlling the character. Super fast. The bottom right I'm assuming is the encounter on/off button. The other two, I'm not sure yet.
Man I get crashed all the time playing this game. Don't think my iPad 4 is that old. Should I ask for a refund ? Wish they optimize this game a bit more. And yes I have tried turning it on and off to no avail
The background graphics are like hat because the orginal files don't exist anymore for the background so no way to anything but make it best they could w what they had. Anyone who gets a refund can't complain when all games are free to play one day.
