I am sorry I did not see your post, though I do admit being lazy and not reading every single past post. Your above post had almost persuaded me to give the game the benefit of the doubt, but then pk94916 made their post about the graphics being so bad they are going to get a refund. Gosh, it's very confusing. Normally I would just buy the game and see for myself, but this game is at a maximum premium price and I already spend too much on games, that I don't even end up playing. You refer to the graphics being superior to the PS1. Unfortunately I never owned one so I have no way to judge the comparison. Perhaps someone will post an iPad Pro video over on youtube and then I can make my mind up. Thanks for your feedback though. It is keeping me interested in getting the iOS version at least. # Thank you for trying to help me.
Im terrible at it too. Haven't won a single hand. The game is similar to Triple Triad and I get that but when I play someone they always seem to have a better hand so I'm beat right from the start and I have decent enough cards I did have one game won and then they pulled off a combo last move and beat me. Also here is a good feature that I haven't heard anyone mention. The clock in the upper left corner! I love this feature that way I know the time without exiting the game.
Your call my man. Personally I think this is the best port release square enix has ever done for a final fantasy game. Either way it's your call
If anyone is worried about the graphics, take a look on YouTube at the ps1 original and compare them to the new ones. The difference is massive and the complaints about the new one would be valid if it was an exact match to the ps1. The new one is gorgeous compared to the old and by all accounts online the devs have gone above and beyond all expectations with what was available. As said, barring a full rebuild of the entire game (!) this has surpassed even the professional's expectations. I haven't played this before (or yet) and never been able to get into any FF game but I've bought this based on the online info about 9 in general and because of the new and impressive improvements to what is meant to be one of the greatest games in history.
I just f'ed up! I parked my Chocobo by the south gate and now I cannot mount it because it only lets me choose to enter south gate. Not sure what to do I'm stuck and this sucks. Unstuck yay!
This being a port of the original Final Fantasy IX Playstation 1 game, made at 320X240 resolution which is 76800 pixels, the backgrounds will look less and less defined on screens with better resolution. iPad Pros have a 2732 x 2048 resolution. That equates to 5.6 million pixels. You can't just hit an up-res button to make a background 10x more defined. Using emulators, you can utilize shaders and such to make it look probably as good as they've done with this port. If Square-Enix ever Remaster Final Fantasy IX, then maybe they would redraw all of the backgrounds to play at 1080p or maybe even 2k or 4k by then. But actual art drawn with pixels at a small ppi ratio can not just be optimized for each device's resolution. As far as most ports go, we're quite fortunate to have been given HD characters and decently shaded/filtered backgrounds.
Bought Adventures Of Mana last week only to found about Final Fantasy IX being completed last week and then out of know where the game releases this week. Gonna see what I can do!!!
OK - I give up. Slave to temptation. I've wanted to play this game for ever - I went from FFVIII to FFX because all the stores stopped selling PS1 games. However, now I've finally shelled out for it. I'm also a sucker for a sale price... Now I'll just add it to the backlog for a while - but I know I am going to get to it a LOT sooner than some others. Very excited.
Also here: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Tetra_Master_(minigame) Actually it seems it's even easier to win with weaker cards in the beginning. Once you know what the characters mean.
I just lost all my Tetra Master cards and now my deck isn't big enough to rematch. Does the game keep throwing cards at you?
Why wasnt the ff7 port handled that way ? I mean, not graphical wise but gameplay wise, with a real touch interface, glad ff9 got it though as its my favorite FF tied with VI, having a blast !
Anyone suffer laggy and sudden slow-down during combat sequence ? Currently running on iPad 4 and whenever fighting starts my game literally crawling. Can't play at all. Super sad. Is it because of my ancient device ?
My theory is that they didn't want anything to take away from the massive hype train surrounding the FFVii remake. The fans have been hounding Square for a remake for years. If they polished up FFvii too good it might detract from the hype train or lessen the impact of the remake when it comes. Just a guess imagining the kind of crappy committee made decisions that you get from large companies!
That's prolly true I won't even mess with the part vii remake because it's being done in episodes and from what I've heard each episode will be very expensive And not only that you will finish an episode then wait for the next one and I don't know about anyone else but final fantasy games don't flow right like that you have to dedicate yourself to them play them for hours and beat them. No stopping for a month and picking up where you left off. So if i do get it would have be once all episodes are finished.
