That's dumb. With new controls the training mode was more important than ever...

  2. Well, I got no idea how the ipad 4 version looks like, and it may or not differ from the ipad 3, but some of the harsh colors like the red flooring in the stands, the meters on the players, and even some of the cutscenes look far worse.

The playing field I still like last years version's look but that maybe subjective.

Another thing is the music is terrible imho. One of the worst.

Anyway, this game really seems like it was just ripped apart and freemium stuff added, and quickly put back together. Nothing really impressive from last years version.

Yeah, tell me about it. That's why I was pissed at EA. I remember fifa 09 and my first football game on iOS. Then came fifa 10 packed with manager mode and be a pro mode. The graphics were ok for a mobile game but it was loaded with features. This was going while gameloft, konami and X2 sports had their own version of football games on the AppStore. EA surprised us football fans with fifa 11. It's graphics were the same as the psp version minus manager mode and be a pro mode. It was very successful. I think it's pulled from the AppStore because I don't see it. It was the biggest interms of file size too. There was none of that IAP garbage. Fifa 12 and 13 were pretty much the same in terms of content and graphics wise. Also, it came with IAP but not required to enjoy the game. My long post was to show how EA didn't even make an effort to at least expand on game features such as my favorite, be a pro mode and fifa street. Graphics should also have been upped more. I guess I had too much expectation from EA. oh well.

Lol, i used to like x2 siccer now it's first touch soccer. Good times.
I hear you though on EA regressing. Like one member obove (Ripe?) said, Lite games with IAP pays the bill:) it sucks for us true gamers but, that's how the AppStore operates;(

I actually don't understand why people are complaining about the pay model in this game.

There aren't any "Classic" iAP's in this game. The FUT mode (Ultimate Team) is exactly the same as on the Consoles. You can also buy FIFA Points on the Consoles.

I could understand if there were timers and energy bars. In that case I wouldn't play it either.

Personally, after last year big steps to a cool Fifa on mobile, I expected a 20$ game with beautiful graphics and serious team updates. I am not complaining about the pay model. And IMHO, EA have nothing new to offer this year, nothing better, so they shut our mouths with this free-to-try model. It's sad to see the only good soccer game for mobile, which I waited for months, proved to be such a disappointment. :(

Can someone comment on the 2 control schemes?

Here's what I think EA are doing with this game:

    1) EA is turning ALL THERE GAMES across all platforms F2P.
    2) This version basically wants to monetize 2 different audiences:

-A) Free 2P + Casual Control + IAP points = casual players, younger players & addicts lol.

-B) Premium + Virtual pad controls = hardcore fans of football eg matchday etc

    3) This leads basically trying out this model - so there's no way EA is going to revamp the engine and spend huge on doing this to get feedback from how well the new pricing model works.

    ==============

I'm fine with this model SO LONG as B) is as good as 13. Afterall you get online games and all those services so it's still a great game. I personally prefer the mobile version of FIFA to the console also. Trying to stuff too much onto a virtual touch screen AND small screen size you have to be selective. Also curious if any AI improvements? And overall performance optimizations too?

What is a bit disappointing is having to download the casual controls, which I hope don't take up too much wasted space on my device's memory. But I can understand why they do it fair do's.

Anyway hope that is interesting and I think it's accurate. Any commment on the GAMEPLAY IMPROVEMENTS and the controls if EA has improved these in any way using the virtual d-pad/button controls? Also any new moves or tactical options?

    ...

If those core gameplay are good I'll definitely get FIFA 14. Want Ozil in my team afterall. Still waiting for FIFA 14 to come out on the app store here...

I have a feeling EA released this by accident and it's an early build of the game!!Even if you look at demo's from months ago it looked and seemed to play better!!

  17. Nah, I think it took a lot of effort to tear open last year's version and add all the freemium aspects and put it back together again. Too bad they didn't spend the time to make the game much better. Actually got worse from Fifa 13.
