These screens along with the info on the controls, etc has me vey optimistic! I can say the same thing about Madden as well. Bottom line is that EA knows sports games--it's what they do and do best! And with the innovative controls on Tiger Woods, as well as the descriptions of more unique touch/swipe controls along with buttons for Madden and FIFA, I am glad that EA is putting real effort into these games.
I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. If you're referring to the iDevice platform only, then yes, EA is the only dev thus far that has brought out any decent sports titles. (aside from X2 Football) But on major consoles (PS3, 360), many would argue that they've fallen quite short when it comes to sports titles the last few years. The NBA Live franchise is, and has always been inferior to the NBA 2k franchise by 2k Sports, and as much as it's still a good football game, many still feel that Madden was inferior to the NFL 2k series (also 2k Sports) until EA purchased the rights to be the only company that could make NFL games, thus FORCING, in a lot of people's opinion a much more complete football game out of the market. (I think EA's NFL gaming rights are done in 2010 by the way) But as far as sports titles in the App Store, EA seems to be the only dev at the moment who will be bringing out quality titles. (Madden, Fifa, NBA Live, etc.) Although so far, all we have to base that on is Tiger Woods PGA Tour.
FIFA has always been inferior to Pro Evo - not just the last few versions but for many years. Oddly though it always sells better, probably because of the exclusive license they have. Still without any word from Konami of a Pro Evo for the iPhone, i'll have to hope EA does a good job. It certainly sound like the polish is there, with the commentary and such. And having the proper team and player names is nice, but lets hope the controls work well. That the main reason I didn't enjoy prolonged plays with real football. Maybe i'd be more used to virtual stick controls now though so it might work.
^^ not to start a debate on fifa vs pes, but you cant actually say pro evo is better than fifa because well.. its not really, theres a reason fifa sells more but really, they both thave their strengths and weaknessess
Where did you hear that? The console versions aren't even due out until October or the beginning of November.
PES used to be better than FIFA but since PES6 they have gone backwards, anyone who plays football games on a next gen console will tell you that.
I think the main component that will determine how good this game is will be the controls. If they get the d-pad controls down right, this game could be great.
for me it will be features. I want something to keep me playing the game. Im still hoping for manager mode to be included.
