Hi, Just making the point in light of your "over simplification". Now, as you said earlier, maybe the talk will go back to talking about the game instead of the cost of the DLC. David
Harpgliss, people worried about pinching pennies probably shouldn't have bought a $200 - $400 device in the first place.
I've been thinking about this. I think it may be because console games tend to never have a free update? No free updates = no complaints about DLC or quick sequels. Have a free content update, and it opens the gates for DLC complaints? This seems backwards and extremely poisonous to me, but it's what I'm seeing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm personally trying to figure this DLC thing out; I'd love to use it to let me raise production values in future games while keeping the prices low.
about the game: I really like Fieldrunners when it was just a game of one map for the lenghty experience and the overall quality of the game; now with 3(or 5 ) maps, new towers and an online part it's even better and still remains for me the most played tower defence on my ipod, even if now i don't play it that much. about the dlc: i think that they are wrong, but i probably will buy the new maps because i want to have one of my favourite game in its complete form. Apart from this,i will not buy any other dlc from another game, for an example i play Eliminate since November but i never spend a cent on it. The dlc are wrong imo because people are used to buy a game and got free updates..when a person buy a game and see "if you want to play at this feature you have to pay more" the reaction is bad and i can't complaint this. At the end,the fact:reviews in the AppStore for Fieldrunners are very bad now (315 revs with a 2,5/5 avg score)so we can say that people dislike dlc.
Hi, WOW! Just WOW! You came to that conclusion from my post? People have budgets they stick to and make sure they get value within that budget. You know what they say about fools........ and their money. But thanks for telling those of us, who live within a budget, that we should not have an Ipod Touch or Iphone. Nice to know you care enough to tell me and others how to spend their money. Anyways, back to the chronically interrupted thread about FieldRunners. David
ive got an iphone and an ipod touch, ive bought like 300 euros worth of apps, thats like 400 a 500 dollars worth of apps, its not the money, got enough of it, the problem is that its not worth it, they kept us in the dark so frakking long, and then they expect us to pay for 2 little worthless maps? no thanx
I don't get how it's "keeping us in the dark" if the game is already completed and done. They didn't promise any maps as free content, after the first two they updated the game with. The game is very complete without the extra maps, especially for $2.99. Acting like this would be similar to getting CoD: MW2 on a console, loving it, having it be worth however much you paid for it, then a year later, they release a map pack. Then you get mad because they didn't give their entire work for the year to you for free? It just isn't logical.
i expected something more than just 2 maps you have to pay for, look at creeps, wont have a problem buying extra maps for that, but this is just so overdone, a game with 3 maps, wow....
The thing is, in Fieldrunners, since it's open field, you can have (almost) limitless designs for levels.
i think that you can't compare two maps of Fieldrunners with 2 maps of the Creeps because the maps in the former are openfield and the replay value is bigger..a map in Fieldrunners took hours to be completed..
I still say that because Fieldrunners is such an old game it's kind of overshadowed by the competition that's popped up. but I also agree with GothamCity and Fleabag, you can replay a Fieldrunners map and have a different experience each time sorta. Fieldrunners games are a lot longer; it's rather different maps in the creeps or geodefense
hekyeah. creeps maps are freaking easy... I feel like I'm an above-average TD player. I bet alot of you do as well. Let me tell ya: I lost HARD at the first attempt at Frostbite on easy mode. I'm looking forward to developing some better strategies. The new maps are a ton of fun and OF really makes the game shine.
The paid DLC and overall cost/strategy dev's use is a very valid discussion - it's just starting to feel to me like we need a separate forum or thread to discuss the actual game vs the cost and paid update/DLC strategy people prefer and why. Everyone makes valid points, but I come to this forum to find out if a game or the new content/changes are worth my time and so far this thread is 13+ pages of people arguing over how much the maps cost and almost zero discussion on if they are any good or if they have any problems with the update. For example - I played last night on the desert map and after clearing level 51 saved the game and exited. When I went back to play it selecting resume from the menu the game would load and then crash as soon as the actual game should start. Never was able to resume my game. Anyone else seeing this?
That happened to me on Grasslands (easy), wave 100. But I was only trying to get to level 100 for the achievement, so I didn't really care.
i mean the the content in this update is too small.. i mean theyve got nearly a year for it and all theyve managed is 2 maps?
What is it with people complaining updates are taking so long to come out? Fieldrunners update took so long this, Minigore update took so long that . . . On topic, the new maps are great! Frostbite is really tricky though.
