I need your help. Ok, here's the story:

My sister's 5G Video iPod recently stopped playing sound through the headphones. A few Google searches and I stumbled upon a forum where many others experienced the same thing, turns out its a manufacturing error, and I'm able to get a free replacement. So I called and went through the process, turns out, the Circuit City I bought it from got it from Japan, and the Product Specialist told me there was nothing he could do and told me I had to call JAPAN!! Seriously, is this necessary? Is there a workaround to this? Am I really going to have to try and explain the situation to somebody who probably speaks at best broken English??

It's an Apple product, right? You should be able to get a replacement from Apple, regardless of who actually manufactured the part that failed.

Exactly!! Thats what I thought! Grr idk..I really don't want to call freaking Japan. I'll probably just call tomorrow and hope to speak someone different. And be more assertive this time..haha.

That cant be right. Apple products have international warranty (except the iPhone). You can get it serviced from anywhere in the world no matter where you bought it.

K, I'm definitely calling tomorrow  I was almost positive that the area of manufacturing wasn't relevant, but I wanted to get some other people's thoughts to reassure me.

Isn't most stuff made in Asia anyway? So really... just about everything is an import, but I wouldn't have to send my TV over to Taiwan or wherever just cause it messed up.

Try Apple first, if not - go to a friends house and call Japan! ;)
