thanks for the kind reply, but I know not all people have such a neutral and fair view as you do (I.e. Some people would say Se3d 1z da b3St!!! 1t pwn5 1n0t1a!!!! Or vice versa) ( I know I overdid it, but it was to stress a point)

I guess it becomes annoying as you progress since it happens all the time and on my itouch I really like to be able to play for short bursts and the loading screens whether 5, 10 whatever seconds they are add up to less play time. Just depends on how you use your device if they will be annoying to you and at what point in the game they become or don't become annoying.

DLC in a game to me is like those Action Code something things you get for consoles and handhelds. Cheats that make the game easier. Never having owned one of them, since I like to either beat or be beaten by a game myself, I would not purchase DLC like Seed has with the armor etc. I find it much more satisfying to get it myself with random enemy drops etc. But those Action Code things have been around since the beginning of video games and so long that I believe there are some people that like them or else they would have stopped making them long ago.

So if the DLC is merely for that reason - give a struggling player and opportunity to have a better experience in the game then great. What I don't like is gameplay that is dependent on DLC.

But as a caveat to that what Rolando 2 did was great - instead of making a lite, they made the first world free if you wish (instead of the full purchase) and then add worlds as you wanted. Perfect for the gamer that might not be as skilled in that type of game and might realize that world 3 or something was their limit - they bought as much game as they could handle, the devs got some profit from a consumer that might not have purchased the game at full price if they knew their capabilities in that type of game. I know that I would not get a game that I might be able to only get halfway through, so to be able to purchase it in stages would appeal to more perhaps.

@Future777 correct me if I am wrong, Mr Mahjong Touch had some DLC in it as well, but it just expanded on an already full game. It was more for the player that was looking for something more after completing a huge number of levels that were included if I recall.

Seems like those are comments fanboys would make no? And if you are a fanboy you won't see any other side but your side.

That's good. Hopefully, the character won't run every which way instead of in the direction I want with such a D-pad.
The biggest problem in Zenonia for me is interaction - you have to face something exactly to interact with it, but because of the D-pad and of automatic running around obstacles it is unreasonably difficult to position the character correctly.
The menus are terrible too, but at least one has to deal with them more rarely.

So, yea, folks, please make the interaction convenient! Since there are puzzles (which is great, IMHO), it is all the more important to avoid any uncertainty in this matter.

    'Why so serious?'

We can't affect developer's actions, they are doing what they think it's right, but please trust me. As I am part of iPhone games developement team, I know that there are limits much more powerful than designers imagination or fanboys willings.
The roblems is simple, well-known, four-charactered - cash.

The more financial input developers put in the game, the more risk rises, that project maybe burned before it's birth. Sometimes great ideas are abandoned only because it's realisation was too expensive.

It's sad, but true, and with angrying we won't change it. Profit, this is something what makes our world-wheel run.

Across Age doesn´t have any InApp purchases. You get the whole package with a single purchase.

Thank you very much, New England Gamer :)

I enjoyed Mass Effect, too but as to Across Age: You won´t find such "complicated" story branches and there are not very long text passages where you need minutes to click through. However AA´s story is still very enjoyable and as a sidenote - sometimes it doesn´t take itself too serious. :)

I´m happy to report that the boot-up loading time is minimal and there are no loading screens in the game. It´s a portable game after all - you should spend the time playing and not waiting. :D

    Well said, New England Gamer.

Pretty good news, but, to be honest...
If I had a few minutes to spare I launch standard mobile game from my Sony Ericsson.
But when I get iPod in my hand I know that it will stick me with for much longer time than a few minutes.
Apple device fills up my time just like CP did earlier. Time has changed, so did I, so did my gaming console. Now it's flat, elegant and shiny :)
That's why I don't care too much about long text courses, moreover, it's better, especially when I spent my childhood playing Dungeons and Dragons.

Great news! Even if it won't be relased for free, like SEED was, it will provide player more fun without inApp purchases (come on, let's call it by it's name - cheats).

Yes, that´s correct New England Gamer. We planned to add the Expansion later but the game was rejected twice so in the meanwhile we had the Add-On content ready and therefore added it to V1.0

I know what you mean. It´s in the nature of virtual D-Pads, that occasionally you happen to run into the wrong direction..but the gameplay in Across Age is much more forgiving.

If you read my posts you would see that I have been actually making a case for both sides. Serious? Nah, just outlining some thoughts.

The comments about fanboys was to just say that fanboys are serious about one game and one game only - will fight to their death (or until their next favorite game gets released) defending that game. People that are open minded will be able to say Game X is great because of ...... and Game Y is great because of ..... but I actually prefer Game Z because it ...... Just trying to point out to Jak56 that not everyone will think that way and there are very open minded consumers in the app store.

And I agree with you that profit is the driving force behind most things, app store or not. Seed made the decision to go free to emphasize the DLC because they felt that is where their profit would be made. Simple. I already outlined the Rolando 2 situation. I believe that the devs of Across Age know their own formula and no one is angry or upset about that! I for one applaud them!

Edit: after re-reading some of this exchange it occurs to me that there may be a translation gap here. I hope my explanation here cleared that up because we are really saying the same thing! :)

Alright, now I get Your point.

You are right. But if You are RPG fan, or at all You are interested in games, You know for sure, that similar situation occured with so-called MMORPG Tibia.
At first, Tibia became very popular web game, everyone who thought 'I'm cool' about himself played it.
But, by the time, Tibia players realised how deep crap this game is and left it.
Unfortunately, still there are people who are ready to kill You if You insult their 'precious' character it Tibia.
It is strange behavior for me. I was always open minded, always opened for news, inventions and ready to ckeck out something new.

I don't understand such conservative, stubborn people, because they defend their point forever, no matter what, even if it's senseless.

They think they've found their niche, and by the example of some people I know - they have. Everyone has his space in AppStore, I always say - as many people around the world, as many tastes occure.

@Jarek - your last post showed me that we are totally on the same side here! I totally agree that mmorpg'ers are the worst as far as "fanboy" status goes, and that trickles into some other games as well. But I have always been open minded and open to all kinds of games - if you saw my itouch right now that would prove it - probably a game from every genre! I have a very eclectic library!

Every game must find their niche to succeed. Despite some of the problems it has, I liked (well play and have fun at) Seed at 3 dollars and I like it now - PROVIDED they don't change it to make the DLC mandatory.

I agree too - ask one question and you will get many different opinions! Variety though is the spice of life. Each dev has to find their way to be noticed. Across Ages will be noticed I believe because it looks like a well made, polished game with elements from classic RPG series that many people love. Its hard work to make a game from scratch (indicated by all the ports from other cell phone platforms that have been released) and so their work on this game should not and I am positive will not go unnoticed. I might go out on a limb to say that Across Age will pick up some "fanboys" of its own - for good or for bad!

You are right, but developing game from a scratch provides it unique, high-quality.
Then all objects, graphics, plygons and scripts are designed with dedication for iPhone OS and such conditions like blured, stretched interface and graphic, low sounds quality, mistakesfull manimulator are not in the game.
An excellent example is SEED (yes, again), or even CoI, where whole graphics were blured. I don't like it, to me looks like stretched by force.

It depends only on desired (or not) fanboys. It's obvious, that some people may love one game and devote it. It's natural, and I have such feature also. When I love one game very much, I become a fanboy, but not closed-fb.

Its action heavy but as described in earlier posts the game goes in a different direction than all the Korean RPGs

    Happy Holidays everyone!

I'm more concerned about the date than the price. >.>
Umm you're going to submit it at that time, or you predict Apple will finish reviewing it at that time?
