Hi there --- and I haven't forgotten my answer either! New stuff looks great and can't wait to see more! And of course - PLAY!
LOL! So..have you finished the other RPG´s already? BTW I am going to follow the upcoming JRPG vs. KRPG discussions with much interest - there hasn´t been a JRPG release on the AppStore yet, right?
i got to end of zenonia but i got tired of it because i wasnt leveled up enough. i played seed for a few hours and i got tired of all the monsters being a higher level than me and i died constantly. one more thing i also do have alot more experience in in jrpgs so this will be a welcome addition.
Sorry if this has been asked/answered already, but how much character customisation is there? Can you manually distribute stats as you level up, or are the stats distributed automatically like in games such as Final Fantasy? I'm assuming character (sprite) appearance never changes as well? Also, would you say that the game focuses mainly on story and character development, or more on gameplay (combat, puzzles, 'grinding' etc.)? We've seen RPGs that have a lot of good gameplay, but the story is always a bit lacking. Inversely, the story may be phenomenal, but without decent gameplay, people simply won't want to play it all that much. Here's to hoping this game has a good balance
I am really anxious to play a good JRPG in my iTouch, I am getting used to that quest and grind based with a story as good as the music KRPGs, but that is because there is no actual JRPG in the iDevice yet. I just finished Seed today and I am thinking about getting Inotia 2 but I am thinking in waiting for Across Age. The sure thing is I will buy AA the first minute. I love the Across Age music, ufff good one
You are guessing 100% correctly, Eduku. The stats are distributed automatically like the classic Final Fantasy/FF Adventure. Regarding your other question: Yep, Across Age IMHO has a good balance between story and gameplay - of course every taste is different but I´m a fan of classic console (Action) JRPGs, too and if this qualifies me as a valuable source: I really have a lot of fun, playing the game even in its current (alpha/beta) state. I love the fast progress: new areas, new dungeons, new music - you constantly visit new locations. It is also action-heavy but you don´t spend much time to level up - no need to grind (you can if you want, of course). You can concentrate on finding the right path, riddle solutions, etc. Hm..maybe. Thanks. Shinto. Regarding the music: Each main location has it´s own music track and I hope you enjoy the whole soundtrack of the game. FDG has a very high priority on sound and music. We believe this is as important as all the rest to build up atmosphere.
I know how you feel. We do our best to get it done soon. Remembering my early Gameboy days when I waited for the arrival of Final Fantasy Adventure. Couldn´t even sleep
Thanks for the good answer I'll be very interested to hear the soundtrack. Music is a massive part of the experience for me in gaming. It's just too bad it won't be out in time for Christmas, but I'd rather have a proper bug-free game than a rushed one. Also, can you give an estimate for how long the game will last, in terms of hours?
Still looking forward to this game, sounds like it'll be really good. My two favorite action RPGs are Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3, have those games influenced this one or are there any sort of similarities? I only ask because I've been waiting for a good action RPG since those ones, and I've never found one that was anywhere near as good. The newer Mana games were a real letdown too...
Can anyone explain why I'm do excited about this game although inotia and seed are both out? I mean, hell! This app just seems to get better and better!!
I think yes - Across Age is a mix of Ys, Zelda and indeed Seiken Densetsu. 2 playable characters, Zelda like puzzles, fast paced action. I have to admit, though that the budget of the game doesn´t allow us to create Zelda Minish Cap 2 or Seiken Densetsu 4, but if you enjoyed the mentioned games you will spend a great time with Across Age. It makes you remember the good ol´ SNES and MegaDrive times. Gameplay length is about 15-20 hours. Thanks, jak56
Nice Also, how open is the game overall? Does it stick to mainly a linear storyline, or can you branch off to do sidequests?
It is pretty linear when it comes to the locations. E.g. you can´t go everywhere from the beginning. The world "opens up" the more bosses you kill / skills you learn. There are some sidequests available, though. Follow all of them to get a nice equipment
