A tad over a gig. It's beautiful. So you're saying you do or don't find the 1% evil...? I'm struggling with the schematics of this sentence. Regardless, it's tongue and cheek humor. Take it for what it's worth, a goofy game. By taking the political references (if any, they're just cliched stereotypes really) seriously, shouldn't you be taking offense also at all this graphic, nonstop violence?
I'll definitely take you up on this. I still have to get an iCade first though. Any idea where I can get one in Europe (online order)? I'll do something about the difficulty, to make the game more accessible. I'll most likely add difficulty levels, that can be changed even during game play, like Skyrim (I love this game ). As for the filesize, I divided the game into two versions just because of that. And it's actually hurting Fangz ranking on the app store. I didn't want to compromise on the HD version, because I just love the way it looks on a retina iPad. That reminds me of some of the gestures I actually do when trying to explain something to someone that doesn't get it at the tenth attempt It makes me really glad to have so many people agreeing with my decisions on this game. Most of the people I know are not gamers, so all the decisions regarding gameplay were taken by me, after specking with the voices inside my head (only three so far, so I'm not crazy!) This game started to be developed before of Zombieville, when I was working at Nok... (well, I don't want to mention them by name ). You can actually find me exchanging some lines with Noah Bordner in the Upcoming games Zombieville USA 2 thread. The game was then called "A Bloody Bad Day" I don't want to ruin the discovery phase for you. Suffice to say you can't do everything with just one tool. You must the appropriate tool for each situation And congrats on passing the Vamp Street level. I would have loved to see your face when you were fighting the boss on that one Many thanks for this valuable input. I agree with all you said and I'll try to improve it. I'm not sure if I'll be able to fit the store during gameplay, since older devices like the iPad 1 and iPod Touch 4G are really tight on memory. Can you please elaborate on the cheap attacks? I want this game to be absolutely fair. If this makes it, it'll be for the second update, and the game has to be on its way to pay for itself. But I'd love to add this and other characters. I am! I am Well, I don't take my self too seriously. I think that if someone made it as far as being in the 1%, they'll be sufficiently enlightened not to take offence from this. Laughing about yourself is very healthy. I do it all the time I don't think the 1% is evil. I don't think all rappers are black. I don't think all lawyers take your money and scream like little girls. Yet, these stereotypes are so ingrained into our society, that I though I should make fun of them. I'd love to live in a world without prejudice, where people don't get judged by what they look and do for a living. Believe it or not, this is one of the ways of doing just that. I also watch Conan O'Brien and John Steward a lot.... so perhaps I'm getting even more liberal (by the way, I'm portuguese. Even our most right wing political parties would be considered liberal in the US We're all socialists here in Europe P). You're holding it wrong The disco is a bit hard at first, but once you get the hang of it, you won't ever die in it again. And you'll become a better gamer. And those 20 seconds of wait are really there to infuriate you a bit after each attempt, or, to allow you to think up a new strategy. All games need this infuriate/enlightening part, as long as it's not abused (this waiting period only occurs in this level and the first time you meet the bosses, via dialog). The difficulty level in Fangz was a very very conscious decision. I had some input saying the game was too hard, but I preferred a challenging game to a boring one. Action games that make you think on a strategy to follow are rare nowadays The decision not to include difficulty levels at first was also intentional. Whoever finishes this game first will have bragging rights, and that wouldn't be possible if I had difficulty levels. Finally, I toned the difficulty way down before releasing the game, mostly due to addicted angry beta testers (one emailed me saying his fingers hurt for playing this game for so much time, and still being stuck at level 3). I think he's over level 3 now. He was institutionalised after beta testing the game and he has a lot of free time now. So, for the next content update I'll have an easy, normal and hard difficulty levels
This is the Key to Solving the Current Economical Crisis Fangz now has a press release. I particularly like this sentence: "At Game Whizzes we take our social responsibilities seriously," said CEO, Alexandre Ribeiro. http://prmac.com/release-id-56726.htm
Oh dont get me started on that! Took me many tries to beat that boss, but when I did I was very happy w the design.
Sorry if this was asked. Does anybody know what the pick-ups do? Specifically the hat and the teeth that you pick up in gameplay, they don't give money, is it health?
Bought an HD version for myself and the universal for my son. Gots to support an indie dev with a quality product, yo!
Wild Blood must go. Will take 30 second of HD version on a retina screen for you to realize you made the right choice.
Tongue in cheek. Tell Noah to get back on the forums. The cheap attacks and the difficulty go hand in hand. I am swarmed by vampires who are able to attack me before I am able to respond and still attack me while I am attacking them. The jump actually takes health, which I think is the first time I've seen that in a game. Health deduction for avoiding enemies? This is rendering the jump void, since I am being penalized for trying to use it. So, not only am I getting bombarded by overly-aggressive enemies, I have no incentive to jump to avoid them, since I need all my health to stay alive. Not to mention I have to wait 20 seconds every time I die just to do it all over again, which, if aggravating the player was the goal, then it is definitely working. I know where you are going in terms of intensity and difficulty, but there is a fine line between challenge and annoyance. For me, this line is being crossed. The game also only saves your progress from level to level in campaign, not room to room. This makes things even more annoying, since you have to go back and do each room all over again if you happen to put your phone down overnight or whatever. I got to the third room on the third level of campaign last night, put the phone down, went to play today and now I have to start at the beginning of the level, do those other two rooms again, just to get back to where I was. Oh, and in terms of holding it wrong, that's what she said.
Yep health mate Awesome game by the way , love the challenging levels , had to actually do some grinding and I'm jealous of you retina iPad owners with your super duper HD retina version But it looks pretty spiffy on the touch . Actually after playing it some more after resting my eyes it looks pretty damn amazing , especially the animation. And to anyone worried about losing your health when jumping , well after you level up some your jump recovery is much faster and your health recharges after you jump - pretty neat system actually .
@game wiz Okay, I have asked on the icade thread about your question where it would be best to get an icade core joystick in europe, or if anyone knows here and can post a link, thank you. See this link game wiz for my post in the icade thread. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=2786363#post2786363 Read about 5 pages back for some stuff about other recent games that I have helped with. Let me know when you want to start, pm me later when you are ready to start beta testing the icade support and I will send you my testflight account info. The plasma sky developer had no idea how to get icade working in his game either, but I got about 5 developer friends of mine to help, and it look us about one week to implement. So it is not too hard, and I will be asking ion (icade's developer) too soon to assist me in the future cause I want to see a day when hdmi and joystick support is an option to most ios games, making ios devices actually mini consoles. If you have any questions, catch me in pms or in the icade or hdmi threads cause I don't know how active I will be reading this thread cause I am low on disk space. Make sure to catch the plasma sky icade joystick update coming out by this weekend. 5 joystick speed settings, a first of it's kind in ios history. It will rock!
Alex, I think some criteria has been set for a mode with less difficulty: Normal Mode: games save from room to room; Hard Mode: games save from level to level, the way it is now. Normal Mode: jump does not have health taken; Hard Mode: health is deducted with jumping, as it is now. Normal Mode: possibly less vampires, less aggressive attacks; Hard Mode: attack patterns stay as they are now. Normal Mode: timers are extended slightly on levels that require them; Hard Mode: timers remain as they are now. And to clarify further what I mean by 'cheap' attacks... I am unable to avoid taking damage. That is it in a nutshell. I can do everything in my power to take out every enemy cleanly and avoid getting hit, but there has not been one level that I have finished where I did not take significant damage. Right now, it is simply not an option to perform optimally and be rewarded as such. I actually found it best to just let the enemies swarm me, fire continually and rely on the health drops, instead of playing tactfully and defensively.
