Alex, can you make a campaign reset option available? I would like to play the campaign over again and it seems the only way to do that from the start is to either beat the campaign (which I have not yet done) or delete the game.
Wow, major glitch. I am still laboring trying to get past the Junkyard. I came to one of the 'checkpoints' where the large zombie-like bosses appear, with about 75 yards to go. I killed 2 or 3 of these bosses and then was not permitted to advance. Of course I should have been able to advance, since there were 75 yards left, but there I stood, with time ticking down, unable to move forward.
I freakin hate the timers and I they are making me play this game much less. The game would be challenging enough without them.
Played first level and really, really enjoyed it. I'll post a review when I've played more. The one complaint so far is the timers. I don't like having to rush. It forces me to use the shotgun more than my bat, otherwise I'll never finish in time.
Wait till you get to level 2-2. It's stupid, I had TI farm survival and upgrade speed all the way to have a chance.
Timer pressure, enemy lunge attacks and jump health deduction. One or all of those is bound to rub the majority of players the wrong way. Other than those, great game. At least Alex is aware of it and is here to address these issues.
I just had a chance to dig into it tonight, and I've had a lot of fun with it so far. However, I can certainly see where the timers might get frustrating; I kind of want to have the option to walk around and explore the lovely graphics without continually worrying about pressing on the right stick button. I think a mode without a timer (maybe on a different leaderboard) would be a nice addition.
I'm doing this on the last planned update to Fangz (when I'm about to focus entirely on a new game). If you take a look at http://facebook.com/fangz.game you'll see that we asked around for names for some of the characters. This is one of the best suggestions so far. I'll do this. Frank initially had a shield. Then I removed it because NONE of the beta testers used it (they we all stressed out by the enemies rushing at them, and just trying to avoid and kill all of them). I'll certainly take a look at kickstarter this time, so that I won't be so anxious to find out if the game will at least pay for itself or not. But even if Fangz doesn't pay for itself, I'll still be happy. I managed to actually live a dream, and there's no price for that This is by design. I know what frustration is. I also knew it would be a way to get the game to spread by word of mouth, forcing people to actually reach out to other people, instead of staying on their little island. Here I'm trying to show you that some people just care about money If you're still stuck in that boss after a while, there's an answer some where in this thread that gives the solution. You wouldn't believe some emails I get. I knew the game would be somewhat polarising, but never in my life would I think I'd be called a racist. I've been fighting prejudice all my life, making a very conscious effort never to judge anything or anyone by their appearance or beliefs, so I was surprised by this. But I can certainly understand why some people would find the rappers to be racism, and I'm changing that just to make it clear that I never meant it. I'm here to listen to you and to try that the game pleases a wider audience, without compromising on my idea of a perfect game. I most likely won't add the weapon you mentioned. I've got my plate completely full and I'd like to eventually focus on another game. My plan is to keep on releasing content updates, but at a slower and slower pace. Right now I'm working full time on Fangz. Eventually I'll switch to 3 days/week, Then 1 day/week and then I'll focus entirely on another thing. What's your device? And in which level are you finding the plasma gun muted? The tweet is my favourite, since his scream is actually my daughter screaming Do you mean a full reset, also erasing weapons and other stats? Software and a non deterministic physics engine sometimes give weird unexpected results (not that this is an excuse). I'll look into it. I'm adding an option to turn off timers or a different play mode. Still not sure. But you'll be able to play without timers. Yes, I'll make a non timer play mode.
I'm using a 4S, iOS 6. I figured that was your daughter screaming. Nice touch. Many of the best resources in life are free and right underneath our nose. I am finding it muted in general. I am specifically talking about the 'winding up' noise it makes. At least I think I hear a type of 'charging' sound. Maybe this is my mind superimposing this type of noise, since it should definitely be there. Yeah, I guess I mean a full reset. Even better, game slots, where you can start an entirely new game without erasing the progress of another. I want to start a new campaign mode from the beginning, since I am way more in tune with the game now than when I first started.
I don't mind having timers necessarily, just timers that are slightly adjusted and don't work so hard against the player. Like I've stated throughout the duration of this thread, I have had to re-do the same level or section of level multiple times, and it seems that other players are experiencing that same frustration. Adjusting the timers would seem to be a more logical solution than a completely timer-free level, since it would still leave the timers an issue with the regular gameplay.
Haha, here's something funny... After Frank runs out of rockets for the rocket launcher, he still loads it, even though it won't fire.
I have played the Junkyard over fifty times and still have not beaten it. 50? Really??? This isn't rocket science. This is just a balance issue. No player should have to do this, no matter how bad you are at it.
My newest idea: Alex, how about you make the jump deduction start after a certain amount of jumps in a row? For example, the first 3 jumps in a row would not be deducted at all and with the fourth jump in a row it would start? This would be a happy medium, since the player would not be able to abuse the jumps and would still be able to get a reasonable amount of jumps in before being deducted. This would also make sense in terms of Frank getting tired. The first three jumps he wouldn't be tired. By jump 4 he would be getting tired, jump 5 even more tired, jump 6 and so on. I'd rather see the first 3 jumps as non-deductible and after that they could increase a little more with each jump. Or how about making it so health that is deducted by jumping regenerates on its own? If you jump a lot the health goes down, but if you stop jumping it goes back up (instead of it staying down).
Well, if I played 50 times my success rate is probably 10times only. The difficulty is there, u may have chose the wrong weapons. Earn more cash in survival and max more weapons b4 going back campaign.
Oh my GOD. I FINALLY beat the Junkyard, which was absolutely the most annoying experience of my life, and the game CRASHES and doesn't save my progress. Done. DONE!!!!! Not playing this again until some serious tweaks are made. Sorry Alex.
Stage 9 is same as stage 7. U probably stuck there more times than in stage 7 haha! Since u can beat it once, I am sure u can beat it twice haha!
I'll look into the sound. I'll also add a reset button. Slots would mean doing a data migration from the previous version, and that's begging for problems. I noticed that But then I though, what the heck, it's funny and the weapon auto switches, so no one will probably notice It's IMPOSSIBLE to design a game for everyone with a single difficulty level. I was perfectly aware that the game would be impossible for some people, and that's exactly why I launched it with just one difficulty level at first. People that finish it will have bragging rights over others that didn't. When I launch Fangz 2 (just a mirage right now) I'll follow exactly the same approach. I understand your frustration, but in my view challenges are challenges exactly because they're tasks that cannot be achieved by all. Sorry, this is overly complicated and it would take loads of explaining on the tutorial. I'll add one perk that allows you not to loose energy when jumping if you max it up. I find some grinding acceptable. If it's a grinding fest, then the game's difficulty is not adjusted to the player. I'm really sorry for the crash. I've had very very few crash reports and none of those were in that level. I'm utterly sorry about that and I fully understand that it was probably the last drop of water for you Hopefully the next update will provide you with a less frustrating experience.
Fangz was nominated for game of the week in Touch Arcade! While I already like the prospect of advertising Fangz as "Nominated for game of the week on TA", I'd really like to advertise it as "Game of the week on TA". If you think Fangz is good enough to earn the title, could you please head over to http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=185787 and vote? Cheers, Alex
