Thanks! :D Interesting that in level three, you TRY to wait out the timer. This game just keeps on getting better!

I didn't think I'd like this game but i bought it because of the anti-capitalist premise. It is awesome though.

I only have an iPhone 5 but I think I'm going to have to spring for the HD version now just for the better sound quality !

The sheer amount of love and polish that has gone into creating this is simply incredible.

Loving the Katana, lightsaber and flamethrower. Enjoying this game far more than expected !

Unfortunately this game just does not click for me.

Btw, made a mistake and bought both versions lol.
But it went to a very talented Dev, so no regrets at all.

Yes, if you tap it twice it'll do the spin and slow you down considerably. The axe is almost as powerful as the lightsaber, but it requires precise one tap attacks to be useful. It's there as one of the ways to get past those levels where no ammo seems to appear ;)

There are no more combos as it's upgraded (it just gets more powerful). But I'd like to fix that. It probably will make it into the second content upgrade (I'm planning the first right now).

I'd love to know how you'll feel when you die 0 feet away from the end (still a couple of inches to go... :D).

This is what happens when you don't have enough budget to hire a full time musician capable of all the different music styles I wanted for this game. I know a couple of musicians that are very very talented, but they're also very very expensive, so I had to choose between graphics and sound. If Fangz succeeds perhaps I won't need to make that choice in the future.

I'm also a pretty logical guy, so sometimes it's hard for me to do things that may seem illogical :) I felt I needed some different scenarios to keep the game fresh, so you have:

    - Levels where you can't advance until you kill everything
    - Levels where you can advance at will
    - Levels where you can advance at will but you must kill everything
    - Levels where sometimes you can advance at will and others you get stuck and must kill everything to advance

And I think that's it. Combine that with the bosses, and the result is hopefully a game that doesn't get boring as you advance.

Then you have the survival mode, which is a very good way to relax once you're powerful enough :)

Yes. And they'll be expensive :)

    :D

For $0.99 you're getting 20 plus hours of entertainment. And you don't get bored into mindless grinding. I think I've done my job ;)

Oh... but I'm not done with Fangz.... ;)

    Thank you!

I really appreciate that :) But now let me repay you the kindness and ask you what I can do to make the game click for you. If it's possible to change it in a way I agree with and that doesn't change the game play for everyone else, I'll do my best to accommodate your requests.

Shotgun kinda slow. Minigun flamethrower n chainsaw will be faster. I reach scene 2 which is the boss but by thn I have little hp to kill it. Dmg is kinda high too. Perhap maxing all the weapon will be the only solution to kill fast without getting any dmg.

I was just so gutted by a review in the App Store, a review so so unfair...

To further add to the unfairness, this guy previously sent me this email:

    "To whom it may concern,

Hello my name is Bernardo Español and I created and write reviews for Nardio.net. I am in the middle of writing a glowing review of Fangz and I am really hoping you would be able to do an interview with us. I really enjoy the game. While it would mostly highlight the app, I would also be interested in learning more about your approach to the iOS AppStore and learn more about you, your company and its history. If so it will be via email and we can have the questions to very soon.

I would also like to report to you that the game seems to have a habit of crashing after too many play-throughs of survival mode. I am playing on an iPad 2. I've shut down the other applications and have done a fresh restart and it still seems to happen at times.

Thank you very much for this awesome game and your time. We really hope to hear from you soon!"

As I do to all people who contact me I answered:

    "Hi Bernardo,

Many thanks for your interest in Fangz. Feel free to ask away, but could you please do it next week?

Regarding the crashes, I've identified one crash bug in Fangz, and I'm preparing an update to fix it. If you can replicate a situation where the crash occurs, please let me know. There were thousands of man hours in testing Fangz, but somethings always escape even the best of SW developers ;)

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to assist you now. If not, we'll speak next week, if it's convenient for you.

    Cheers,
    Alex"

And then when I found the review:

    "Hi Bernardo,

So, you write to me saying you're in the middle of writing a glowing review, ask me for my time, which I promptly accept, and then proceed to write a 1 star review of my game, saying that I'll soon swamp it with in app purchases, which I never will. If you're a mind reader, you're a bad mind reader.

Take a look here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=185593 . You'll see many people that struggled, got past the difficulties and LOVED the game. Games are meant to be challenging.

Now take a look here: http://www.dinheirovivo.pt/Faz/Artigo/CIECO142012.html . This is me and my family. Your 1 star review made Fangz plunge from # 70 something in the US store to # 80 something. You're hurting real people with your unfair words.

Please let me know what else I can do so that you change your review. I'm gutted. I can't believe how after writting "Thank you very much for this awesome game and your time. We really hope to hear from you soon!" you would proceed to do this.

    I'm sad,

    Alex "

    and

"The coin doubler is going to be free!!!! I can't believe your review!!!! The coin doubler is going to be unlocked by tapping my head!!! Oh man!!

I'm so so gutted by this! You obviously haven't played any hard games in the past. Take a look at the God of Wars trilogy and beat it. Then you'll understand."

I'm truly devastated by this. Fangz plunged in the US store right after this review.

I made a game with this much dedication, with no IAPs, with no intention of any IAPs ever, I took my entire family on this journey and now this...

Please help me. I have no idea what else I can do.

    Alex

that sucks, ALex after playing this game it is hard but i love the challenge and the fact you can level up and get stronger it makes it fun because the stronger I get the further I'm getting in lvl 2, this game has tons of polish and the hd version looks fantastic, i really hope the 1 star review does not effect sales to much, next time I jump on my Ipad im putting a 5 star review for the hd version.

Thanks Markku. But I really need help with the normal Fangz version, since that's the one that's most popular (which reminds me of another unfair review also in Fangz, from iPhone Jones, saying he doesn't understand why I made two versions).

The 1 star review made Fangz plunge 10 places in the US app store. This, together with the rampant piracy of the game is affecting me a lot :(

That's wrong. Just wrong. The diffaculty is part of the game, and a part which needs to stay! I would much rather play a game with a ton of difficulty then play something that's so easy it's boring. It makes victories so much feel so much better! I wanted to jump for joy (not for real :p) when I beat level 2. Great great feeling. Thanks for the amazing game, and I hope more people continue to buy it even though some people just can't enjoy the toughness of a high quility game.

Well just beat lvl 2 then went to lvl 3, and wow that was awesome, awesome music and awesome area, then went to lvl 4 and had to kill enough vampires before the time ran out, got so close but didn't make it, but man lvl 3's music had my head bobbing

Piracy sucks. I'm really sorry to hear about the review; some people are pigheaded like that. All I can say is that I've left a review and really, really hope Fongz succeeds.

Bernardo (the reviewer I mentioned) sent me an email apologising. He says he'll update his review immediately (that was an hour ago and still nothing... and Fangz continues to plunge down the charts...).

I'm really hoping this doesn't cause much more damage.

I am sorry to say that being in Canada I can't be too much help, and as I purchased the HD version I am sure it's even more obscure there.

I'm disgusted by the reviewers. I really am. I don't get the mentality, these people have no concept that there are real people there who make these games. I've leveled criticism from time to time when warranted, and I may feel the need to do so here, but unless a game is truly horrific or worthless, there isn't a chance in hell I would rate it as such. I have done so with education apps for kids that have rampant grammar and spelling issues, but I can't think of the last time I did it with a game. It has to be REALLY bad to want to leave a one star. Those same people are the ones who feel it necessary to 1 star movies that generally have faired well critically.

As to the piracy, while I disagree with the practice I also do strongly believe that the numbers you are seeing there could never have been considered sales at all. There is a fraction of those who pirate the game that would have even paid for it, so while you may be seeing big numbers, they aren't lost sales. They just aren't. Those people won't buy anything, if they can't pirate it then it just doesn't get played. Very few are in the camp that if somehow they couldn't steal it they'd just pay for it, those are the rare breeds. So try and take some comfort in that if you can.

I think what everyone here can do is make sure to mark those reviews as not helpful, they will be pushed down the rankings and there will be less weight to their review. It's not the full answer but it's something.

Hey Alex cheer up ya. A 1 star review will nv beat u Down, I just leave a 5 star review and I am pretty sure many will do so soon! I am loving the difficulty even though I am stuck at level 7. Without the difficulty I might complete this game in 1 day haha!

I wouldn't give the reviewer that much credit. He is just ruining his own credibility by rating a great game like this 1 star. I am sure it will rise up the charts again.
