I just started this about a week ago and have enjoyed it quite a bit. I have a few questions:

    1) Armor. Is there a hidden armor/defense value to armor, or is an effect on SPECIAL skills the only thing that armor does? Does strength affect ranged damage?

    2) Quests. Does the game scale difficulty based on its requirements, or based on what you send into the fight? For example, if I have a quest with a requirement of level 5 and 3+ attack, and send in a team of level 20s with 8+ attack, will I wipe the walls with the enemies and have a cakewalk quest, or will the game magically scale them up to my level and I'll be chomping stimpaks left and right? Is it best to send dwellers at a level closest to the requirement for the best risk/reward balance, or does it matter?

1, There is a hidden value in specials.
    Effects during quests only:
    Strength: Increased attack damage.
    Perception: Reduced VATS speed.
    Endurance: Reduced radiation damage.
    Charisma: Better dialogue choices.
Intelligence: Increased "this is the right/wrong way" frequency.
Agility: Reduced time between attack rounds.
    Luck: Increased chance of VATS.

2, difficulty of the quests is determined by the developers and does not scale to anything your bring to the party
