Wow, Fallout Shelter just beat Candy Crush on top grossing charts in America and doing well worldwide too, which means they are making millions of dollars a day, even without Android version. If they can sustain it for a year like Clash of Clans / Candy Crush, they will make more money than any of their Fallout console releases. This is basically tiny tower with AAA (for mobile) graphics and Fallout IP. Extremely well done! Didn't think it would be this popular. I am glad Bethesda didn't make 20 year old ports to make pennies off nostalgia, and built a proper mobile game instead to get the dollars. Hopefully their success will bring more AAA publishers to make full fledged mobile games once they realize people who want ports are the 1% minority on these platforms. You have to provide 2015 graphics with 2015 freemium model (give the free players healthy progression without burning them out with the grind) to stand a chance.
Does it make sense to build your training rooms in 3's as well? Can you do a S P I setup or does it have to be 3 S rooms? If I understand you correctly, folks have found 2 power to 1 food and 1 water works out well? Thanks for the help!
now? Also would be nice to see the parents of someone born in your shelter. I quite often put two people together in the room and they say "its nice to be with my family" I have them in two's because more people can go in them. I don't see the need for 3's. And yep around 2:1:1 seems to work out, for me at least! that must have been some spending they did!!!
I probably still play this game because I'm absolutely not forced to buy IAP. I'm even happy to buy the IAP some time, just because it's not needed and they deserve it because of that. Companies need to learn that I'm ONLY spending real money if I can progress without IAP. Still follow it?
It is 2015, freemium games that do not cater to free players have no chance on top grossing charts. Whales will only spend money if you build a huge community of free players to worship them. No amount of marketing will give you a huge community if you can not keep your free players. Seriously, Fallout beating Candy Crush on top grossing is absolutely amazing!
Thanks for the help! Radio Station doesn't seem to do much for me. Only had one wanderer from outside in like 2 days despite having my best C person there. How many explorers do you usually send out? I am at Population 24 and have one dweller out at the moment.
Game is good, yes, but the thing is that even your beloved free2play version of battleheart "heroes charge" has more in-depth combat than fallout shelter since you can at least use skills during combat and not just sit and watch your heroes automatically fight,it is not a Movie game. OFF TOPIC: The main thing and the biggest problem that having both whales and free players and having both of them satisfied is IMPOSSIBLE since why do whales spend money? You think they do that cause they are generous?Cause the game requires no IAP of whatsoever (yes, fallout shelter is a great example of spending money on it just cause the game is so balanced)?Because they are lazy and wanna get everything much faster? If only it was true,no - they do that to progress somehow while free players last for a few days/maybe a week and then the progression becomes really difficult then they leave the game,I wish that there was some kind of a balance between whales and free players. PS This game is good but having fallout 1/2 port would be much better, this game's in-depth is nothing compared to the actual fallout in-depth.
The radio station seems like a very small increase in odds when the timer is up. I would guess around 5%-10% extra chance once timer is down. I have 2 joined radio rooms and upgraded once with 4 high C level people in there and it generally attracts one person a day. You know it will work since it will have a green clickable icon to attract a person.
Once you start training higher stat people up, you can support a 3 room block with less people. I've been kinda surprised at how they're maintaining output with so few purple in there. Has anyone reported pregnancy bug?
Can your special stats go over 10? I have a guy with 5 strength and an outfit with 5 strength. Could I train him to 6 strength and have 11 total?
So is there any advantage to having a power plant with 6 people with maxed S stat vs. just 4 people with max S stat?
Nobody would play Fallout 1/2 on their phones unless they actually played these from 20 years ago, and they wouldn't play it very long either. The classics were classics for their era and have zero chance against modern day games. It is like trying to get Michael Jordan to play against LeBron James at age 50. Taste and modern day availability of entertainment choices is totally different. I beat both games back in the days and prefer them to stay where they are instead of embarrass themselves against the titans of mobile. This game is about based building, not combat. Besides in most RPG's combat is about stat checks anyway, you can beat the entire Baldur's Gate series with auto combat if your characters are powerful enough. Obviously players who spend money will get an advantage, but before they spend money they need to be hooked first. With the huge number of games released every week, it is extremely difficult to keep a player attached to your game. The amount of depth and balancing in top freemium games far far far exceeds the single player paid games. I am curious how long this title can stay in top 10 grossing. You can get there with great marketing, staying there and keeping the whales to spend more money and casuals to buy entry level IAP is another story. That is what makes Clash of Clans so amazing. It is the ultimate challenge in game design to keep players who spend nothing and players who spend a few hundred a month playing, month after month, year after year.
I was asking the person I had quoted since he said he runs rooms with less than 6 people in them just fine if their stats are high enough. I'm just wondering what the point of diminishing returns are on stat maxing for a certain room. Say we have two power plants and you have 12 people to put in. 6 have max stats and 6 are low stats. Would it be best to have all 6 max stats in one room and the other full of low level or best to spread it 3 and 3 to get both rooms efficient. There seems to be a huge jump in time with each stat increase for a room up to a certain point. I'm just wondering what that certain point is. After that point you are better off making a new room and putting people in there.
