Quick update for you all and a couple more screens that show both the virtual pad controls and tilt controls. Game will be released this Friday. @eggz - we are publishing this ourselves - Black Forest Interactive. So... tell all your friends! Screens below: ... shots of the weapons you'll be enjoying! ... and my personal favorite - the Wee Willy Nuke (explosion takes up the whole screen... and then some!):
looks great im glad you put melee weapons in too! the only thing this looks like it needs is online multiplayer
Apple took long enough to approve it, release it already if you have the ability! It's not 'shipping' anyplace, it's a download. I don't understand the logic in holding games from release on the app store, other than trying to look official with a 'ship date' there are 9 other games I am waiting for anyway, hopefully they will come today or tomorrow.
The only reason could be that they want to launch it on a weekend in order to have more sales. Dont know if such practice will have any effect in AppStore though.
The game has been approved *but* we are holding out that an update will be approved this week that would improve the touchpad responsiveness. Tilt works flawlessly, but touchpad has a slight stutter on some devices, so we want both sets of controls to work perfectly (and they do with the update). Touchpad was a late cycle feature addition... made in response to this site, actually. In any case, we set this Friday as the drop date. If the update is approved by then, then everyone gets the best of all worlds on day 1. If not, well, we're shipping anyways ;-). I'm sure you all can appreciate that it's important for a new release to come out with its best foot forward...
Good luck, the way things have been with apple your lucky to see that update before thanksgiving. I wouldn't hold your breath for Friday.
Alright that explains it. And btw would you want to have your own thread in games releases forum here once it gets launched? I`m sure either me or someone else will create a thread before you in case you are late even by 5 minutes here So I`d rather not make the thread if you decide to have the official thread started by you only as that will get mine locked (like the upcoming one)
Just now heard about this game (saw the ad on the front page). Humorously enough, I've been thinking about maybe getting my feet wet in developing something and a multidirectional shooter with ball style characters was something I had in mind. Something that combines the marble rolling games with multidirectional shooter gameplay. Like all good ideas, though, seems someone else had it first. It looks good. Damned good. And for a buck, as steal. However, I have one issue with the game as is: You have an option for accelerometer movement with "tap on enemy to aim/shoot", and another for "dual virtual pads/wheel", one for movement and the other for aim/shoot (ala dropship, idracula, etc.) but you don't have the control option that I would've really liked to see: Accelerometer (tilt) for movement, and "virtual pad/wheel" for aim/shoot. It's the same sort of control scheme used for 2079: [hqyoutube]Rf-J8Ed3Idg[/hqyoutube] I think this game, which, as I've stated, seems like a combo of marble roller (think Marble Madness, Hydrotilt) with multidirectional shooter (iDracula, etc.) screams out for that particular control interface. It's probably much too late to implement it before release, but perhaps you can do so for the first update to the game. You've stated that the touch movement is tricky to implement properly, and I personally do not like the idea of "tap on enemy to aim/shoot" although I prefer accelerometer controls for movement, so tilt to move with touch "wheel" to aim/shoot seems like the best of both worlds. EDIT: Apologies to arn for putting a vid from another site, but the toucharcade vid for 2079 was too long IMHO
This initial release will not have a Survival Mode, I assume? I think I asked this before but can't recall the answer now, are enemy spawns and or item placement randomized?
Looks great. Could you please be more specific? I am getting on a flight Friday at noon CST. Will it be available by then? Also, two other questions: 1) Does it save your state when you exit? 2) Does it let you listen to your own music? Thanks, Michael
You guys are going to be so jazzed when this game release... Seriously, just a lot of fun. Answers to q's below: @mlkaufman - the game saves your state after each level. You can either play through the campaign from the beginning or jump to levels previously played directly to get a better score/medal. Yes, you can swap our cool music track with your cool music track. Switching is done automagically. Just play your iPod tunes before loading the game and you'll get in-game sound but your tunes. The game will be released whenever Apple normally releases games. I've simply plugged 9/18 into Apple's system as the release date - update live or not. @Spiffyone - great ideas! The wrinkle we have (which you'll see when the game releases) is that our game is in 3D. So you can be looking at a guy on a bridge or on the first level, which means that a firing wheel would need to somehow distinguish between the two targets. That said, if enough folks want that added, we can do it and just "assume" a target based on direction... @LordGek - the game comes with 10 missions w/ a boss at end and 1 tutorial level. In this mode, the enemy placement is designed in because the levels are fully designed. The main reason for this is that we put in "range/melee" pairing so that a chain gun guy can harass you from a distance while a couple hammer guys pound you up close ;-). As in above, Survival Mode would be fairly straightforward and we could probably figure out "natural" range/enemy pairings on a randomized basis. Additional single-player content would basically compete with multiplayer as a priority, however. I'm thinking I'll put these options up for a vote immediately after launching. @ImNoSuperman - I'm almost certain that you or someone will beat me to the punch on the new forum thread. Have no idea how/if I can be the first, but I'd like to. Let's put it this way, if I'm not on there in the first half-hour, assume I missed the boat and post away... Thanks for everyone's interest. I'll check in about this time each day to answer any other questions and I love the feedback.
I vote for both But if you have to choose one then get more single player missions first as it shouldnt take that much time to do. Multiplayer might not be as easy to accomplish and it could take quite a lot of time to develop and test. I`d rather get more levels to play in a month than waiting for multiplayer for 2-3 months. But if you think can pull it off quickly then multiplayer will be the obvious choice followed by a few more single player missions
