LV55 Epic Brownweave Bear, LV120 Merlin, LV 101 Rapunzel and LV78 Emerald Sage. Everyone but the Bear was fully potioned out and enchanted with Block Chance. Friend was a LV120 Snow Queen.
I used a level 80 False Prince, a level 80 Storm Sorceress, a level 73 Inferno Druid, a level 70 Castellan, and a friend's level 120 Snow Queen, based on JackRabbit's success with a nearly-identical strategy. Still had to use a stone (the last 5% of her health was a nightmare) and 11,257 health (which is really low, though was surprisingly manageable with the Snow Queen's link regen and the Storm Sorceress's damage control and the 60% resist I had), but one stone for a legendary hero is a much better rate of return than I've had from the rare draw, so I really don't mind. I think this is the only legendary I've cleared where my total health was lower than one of the boss's unresisted hits. Thanks JackRabbit--I didn't think I was going to be able to pull this one off until I saw your team and saw that I had the makings for something similar.
Brownweave bear needs some levels to actually be useful; remember that for this quest, each level actually gives 3.5x the stats, so XP is very economical on it. Merlin should be useful, great for healing. Emerald Sage might be the one I'd consider changing out, but eh. You don't seem to have much to deflect damage. You'll have a decent amount of HP, but if you're taking 13k damage every 2 turns, that's gonna be rough to fight out, especially since cascades might be hard to get with so little link. You were probably at 20-30% block with everybody maxing out, but frankly, that's gonna be a lot less useful than 50-60% resist. If you have a Sorceress or a Water Archmage, I would suggest trying that instead of the Emerald Sage. Getting to around 56% resist will reduce Goldi's damage to about 6k every two turns, which is a lot more manageable.
Yeah this may be the first one I can't finish this time around. I don't have a Storm Sorceress or Water Archmage. Using my Merlin, BBW and either False or Phoenix Prince, plus my Rapunzel wasn't even close. You're right that just having high HP like via my BBW isn't gonna cut it. I simply don't have the resistance chops for this one. Even tried using a Goldi friend but couldn't recover health fast enough. Brownweave Bear sure makes Heroic a breeze though. Speaking of, pets are only via rare draw, right? Edit: I don't see a Water Archmage in the wiki. Did you mean Water/Frost/Arctic Enchantress? I can't remember, is she available as a friend draw (unevolved of course)? Edit part deux: Drew a Frost Mage and will try getting her up to Frost Archmage. Maybe that's what you meant.
Glad I could help! False Prince - Castellan - Snow Queen is a really good core for a team; plenty of links and high crit %. Add a Midas if you can. He's Chaotic (extra crit % from Castellan) and with the high link regen, you can use area attacks almost exclusively and get an attack bonus from his passive.
Pets are only via rare draw, yes. And yeah, Frost Archmage. Sorry, game takes so long to load now, I don't usually bother pulling it up to doublecheck. Close enough counts. Resistance is key to these battles, for the most part. Little less necessary for False Prince, where the key is Block, but it helps. Goldi's passive isn't actually strong enough to really consider her a main source of damage resistance. She'll make your team a little bit tougher, all around, but 15-20% resist won't help you much against the Legendary Fables. That said, her stats ARE still suitable for a Legendary Fable, so feel free to crank her up, just be sure to have a set of resist monsters for when 20% isn't enough. (Well, can get up to like 30% with Chromatic Elixir, if not more, but that's a lot of farming)
Thanks for the additional insight Raistailin. I conquered her last night. And by "last night" I mean 2 in the friggin' morning. I started around 5 pm!! I never, ever, ever, want to do anything like that again in the name of "entertainment". It of course wasn't a straight through effort, so I had to put my phone on no-sleep since any exit from the game would reset me! But, it was about 70% of that time. My team was: Rapunzel (72/semi-potioned/12% water resist)- her permanent active (once triggered) of the 40% damage reduction was invaluable as were the burst gems I'm sure, because I needed all the offense I could get with this tank team. Fairy God Mother friend (120) - her active of the full HP restore was also invaluable, but with the resist I cobbled together, and Rapunzel's active, Goldi's hits were a hair over 5k and I had about 20k health. Of course her block passive was absolutely essential as well. Big Bad Wolf (fully pimped) - obvious health buff and I used his active a lot, though it only did about 85k (still a lot compared to my normal hits - ugh!). I had Fairy God Mother's active fully charged when I did this in case I couldn't gem back to health. Merlin (96/fully potioned/6% block) - he always seems like a no brainer, but I pretty much always had no links and thus the combos weren't as easy to come by. I'd of course use his active occasionally (it was also my back up if I had to scramble for health gems and Fairy God Mother wasn't charged - which was actually rare, thanks to blocking) to get better combos, but man did the blue gems bring it down fast. Frost Archmage (43/some health potion/7% block) - Thanks for this tip Raistialin! As you saw, I did a bunch of friend draws until I got her. I intended to level her up more, but when I saw Fairy God Mother show up in my available friends list, I had to go in. So, it worked and I never had to use a fable stone! But holy mother of iOS gaming was that a slog. I'm honestly not sure it was worth it (so, very, tired!) but once I was in it, I was in it to win it!
Yeah, the team is basically my normal team, only with Epic Shadowhound being replaced by the Epic Brownweave Bear. Usually, the team has Block maxed out at 50%, but without the Hound, it's very noticeably too little. Interestingly, I had to use the Fable stone when Rapunzel's Skill was already active. If I do it again to farm some XP and burn through the remaining keys, I guess I'll try replacing the Emerald Sage with the Epic Shadow Hound (LV86) for more defense. EDIT: I just noticed I have a LV43 Frost Enchantress and the materials to evolve her. I just migh do an hour of book farming. Of course, she'd be totally unpotioned and has no enchant, so I guess I'll rather try it with a Shadowhound.
That is the exact core team I have migrated too, just needs some serious leveling and still need to evolve snow queen after Friday's quest item. Castellan is proving more effective than King Thrushbeard, due to synergy It is incredible how many links you regenerate with snow queen and a 37% crit chance. Leaves Jack for dead.
You can do the one of the normal key quests to get blocking potions. Also Fairy Godmother and Shadow hound have blocking as there passive ability
Did anyone notice that the High Level versions of the starter fables (Lord Robin Hood, Mighty Beast King and whatever Snow White is) don't belong to their respective Lore Teams?
I'm not sure "dead" is the right word since they just updated it a bit. Maybe "undead"? It seems to just roll through the same weekly patterns over and over. It's still a daily driver for me but yes I'm becoming very pessimistic about new content, which sucks given that I've put so much time and some money into it.
Yeah that's a really bad sign since that takes no effort at all, given the stale rotation. I notice people complaining about a lack of response from support. Heck, they NEVER responded to my reported issue when I got my 6.
I had noticed the Kongrgate forum added via the last update but only just noticed that they now also show as the dev in the app store. Wonder what that means. Just discovered Brave Frontier (late to the game, yes) and am loving it. If any of you guys try it and like it let me know and we can link up.
Does the elixir of wisdom actually replace your current enchant or, hopefully, just level up your active so that it has a quicker cooldown?
