Congrats man. I'm stuck until Thursday for a Rune of Legends, so I'm totally boned there. That's gonna be a lot of Thursday farming. =\

Still, even unevolved, the Phoenix Prince is great for regular dungeons and key quest farming.

Havelcek, so much thanks for putting your Crystal Phoenix up for these fights. It's made it possible for a bunch of us to get the Phoenix Prince!

Really glad that some of you guys were able to use my Phoenix. I've done a lot of whining about drops so it's very rewarding to have success in one of these events...thanks Bune for putting your Phoenix up for me.

So now onto Castellan...what's the strategy here?

Thanks for the help everyone finally got the Phoenix Prince!

Question do people buy extra slots? I'm running out of slots and hate to sell some of my heroes as I never know when I might need them. Thanks for the advice.

I've bought 20 or so slots but I've also become much pickier about what I keep.

Havelcek- it's been awhile since I got the Castellan (he may have been my first that way) so I don't remember much. It looks like I got him from Hard, in fact, because I hadn't even cleared Heroic. So, this should be fairly easy for everyone compared to the legendary runs.

Yeah, I'm convinced that faeries are there to make you waste slots, and thus gems.

Faeries are slot-wasters at this point, unless you're pretty damn lucky. Getting one with a skill you can use (low chance) + actually getting a skill up out of it (25% minimum, unless you've got multiple to stack) doesn't translate well into usability.

I made a post about it previously saying that Faeries should be general "Skillup" cards, giving a 25% chance to skill up any skill. Dunno if BTG saw it, or if they're interested in it. I'm refusing to buy stones to support poor design decisions though, so... I just sell 'em.

Currently sitting at 50 slots, which leaves me plenty of room to expand. My reasoning is that once I have most the farmable heroes (getting pretty far along on that end), I can keep farming them until I get 4 extra, then fuse for a skill up. So, more room is good.

I did not manage to get a second Phoenix Prince though. Oh well.

Let's see, for Castellan, I'll have a better write up tomorrow, since I'm still doing coin farming, but here's the essence of what I remember:

    1) No hearts. Don't plan on healing unless you bring a healer or something that can make hearts.

    2) No hearts = lots of combos, even with minimal initial links. Bring something that'll hit hard, and don't plan on being able to stall.

    3) All stages have one round of Minotaurs (max 2 on Heroic, think 2 on Hard as well, with 1 on Easy and Medium. May be wrong though). These guys are beatable without taking a hit (6 turn counter), but you have to be hitting their absorb limit every time, with every hero. Something like 18k? Otherwise, if you have fire resist, you can tank them pretty easily, no worries. Bring a Fire Enchantress or a Druid of some fashion.

    4) Beast has a 3 turn counter, hits reasonably hard, and is otherwise just a meatshield. Since he's the next to last fight, don't go all out, but wail on him all the same.

    5) Castellan himself transforms all Nature gems to Fire gems whenever he hits (3-4 turn counter? I think?). If you're relying on Nature gems to heal (you're bringing the wrong Enchantress, FYI) then you're going to have to clear the board and try again. Otherwise, just use the massive combo he helps generate, and beat him down. Nothing difficult, just tank him and hit hard.

In short: Phoenix is great for this, as the added fire resist makes you take minimal damage from most the enemies. Bring an enchantress if you're worried about having to heal. Otherwise, stack up with your Phoenix Prince team, and go to town.

I didn't take any hits from Castellan when I just cleared Heroic, so I don't know about his bag of tricks, but I can confirm that the rest of Raistailin's guide was dead on for this one (as usual!).

All of the Alignment-Critical (Apple Witch Queen, Friar Tuck, and Castellan) series transform their strong-element gems to their element gems (i.e. Nature -> Fire for Castellan). Makes them pretty easy to beat up on, actually.

FYI, for those with any of the Alignment-warriors (Barbarian, Paladin, Warlord), these guys are a natural addition to any Alignment team. A full Alignment team will look something along the lines of:

    Sample Monored Team

Castellan (%Crit enhancement for each Chaotic hero, up to a total of 16%)
Ruby Sage (%Life and %Attack enhancement for Chaotic heroes, plus a one turn %Attack enhancement that's one of the largest in the game)
Beast (%Attack enhancement for Fire, and lookit all the fire in this team!)
Briar Rose (%Life and % Attack again! Delicious! And the Heart->Fire Gem absorption is fantastic as well. Not useful in Castellan, of course, but damn useful)

If you can get a Barbarian friend in there, this is a Monored team that'll crush through most defenses. Damn useful.

    A sample Tricolor team:

    Castellan
Ruby Sage (These two are Chaotic enhancers! They're going to be the basis)
Ivy Shaman (Defensive passive is useful, overall passive is good, and poison is useful for absorption based enemies)
Big Bad Wolf (One of the biggest %Health enhancements in the game, and a hell of a nuke to go along. Nice.)

Add in a Barbarian friend again, and you're set. Castellan is probably the prime swap point, if you've got a Barbarian yourself. Ruby Sage is too good (% life and attack boosts!) to move off the team.

UpdateDamn shame but missed out on the prince, I was ready to give it a go on last day but all of my crystal phoenix friends disappeared. No options to select them or they changed hero's.
I am not sure I was ready anyway so will get him next time.

I tried the Castellan mission and find it easy on hard but Heroic sure kicked my butt.
Will just keep trying on hard.

Curse these fire missions though can't use my main team as all nature. So running with

Jack Slayer of Giants Lvl 60
King Thrushbeard Lvl 60 (still trying to get Elemental infused orb)
Warlord Lvl 50 (Still trying to get last Rune of Heroes)
    Inferno Enchantress Lvl 60

Got the Castellan on fourth try on Hard. But alas got nobody to put with him yet :-(
    Bring on more Characters

Castellan works pretty well with a Fire team, doesn't necessarily have to be on a pure Chaotic team (although that's arguably where he'll work best). I use him on my monored team mostly because Fire heroes tend to be Chaotic as well.

I can run Guardian of the Books 4 times in a day, so that's pretty baller. I'm just burning time until Thursday, when I can blow so much stam on trying to get a Rune of Legends. I need that Phoenix Prince evo!

Yeah, as previously discussed I am a couple days ahead of you, just needing a dragon skull for my prince (though I'll be right there with you Thursday because that leaves my Queen Snow White evo in need of the same item). 75 points of stam so far today and no skull :(

I have been a bit unlucky with fire drops, my best fire is inferno enchantress so need more fire chars. I also have been trying to do the guardian book four times a day but need to coincide with levelling, 2 before and 2 after

Its funny but the Rune of Legends I got on my first drop but getting rune of heroes is like pulling teeth. Wednesday on the other hand will not seem to drop the Elemental infused orb. Congrats on Phoenix prince used him through one of the friends and he was awesome, I wish I had of got him

Max-level Phoenix Prince will turn pretty much all of the dailies, and anything below "hard" difficulty into cake walks. Then again, they're already pretty easy, so don't think of it as a necessity, just a nice to have.

Has anyone beaten the Legionnaire and the Chromatic potion quests? I get to about round 3 or 4, and then get face-stomped. Trying to come up with a good team.

Out of curiosity, did youbuy Midas, ordraw him? WhenLegendary Fable quests are going on,I can usually stockpile up money, but I tend to dwindle down backunder 1 mil after not too long.

Got one the first time I ran it. I was shocked. I think Angeline got it the first time she ran it as well.

Sigh and this is why I hate rng. They should have some maximums set cause nothing makes you want to give up more than this.

I already have one Rune of Legends but just used another on my Phoenix Prince and am about to use one when I have another evo item for my Queen Snow White. So I figured I'll need another soon enough, and had nothing better to shoot for today. Took 5 tries to get one.

One downside to power leveling during legendary fable runs is that it now takes forever to level. I'm at 145 and haven't leveled again all week. So, ironically, I seem to be getting much fewer daily runs despite having 80 stamina. No wraparounds!
