No I appreciate your advice - I was just wondering if there something in my build that I was missing that you saw.
Hey Halcevek I have sent you a friend request. Let me know if i can help you with some heroes. I have a 64 crystal, paladin, fairy godmother that might be useful. I currently have the crystal phoenix set as lead so just let me know. Anybody want to add me for this quest send me pm. Between one of those + pirate / snow white i think you have a shot at it. If it doesnt work out might need to lvl up your heros a bit more. The last few story books are good exp farm, can get 50+ of the 500xp books a run if lucky and if not lucky between 6-12 books a run.
Yeah it seems that you need some more hp during times, instead of changing most of the team around i would say get a crystal phoenix from a friend. The pet will easily give 10k+ of hp. Also I would replace either false prince or red rose, while they work well you want/need a link generator specially if you are working with Midas since you will want to spent extra links to get that bonus. Another possibility is replace midas with a link generator. You can also try instead to raise resist overall by fire potions as they can possibly give you a +12% fire resist extra so if you applied 8-12% per hero on party you should have more than enough resist. Probably will still take around 3-4k dmg per round + the dmg from red orbs. If we could get a list of your heroes we might be able to help build out your team more for this fight.
Thanks Bune - I did accept your request last night. For anyone else who needs a Crystal Phoenix friend, I have mine set as leader - he's just not levelled up. ID: mFS3s8WBg9
You know, I'm probably just being stupid but I don't understand if the Crystal Phoenix is the hard counter to the Prince, why is his active so useless? Its basically just giving the Prince more nukes.
Yeah i dont have much use for it except clearing a messy board. I have used it and it doesnt do anything to the boss except more nukes like you mentioned. 10 extra red gems however is good to clear majority of board.
Havelcek, just as a note, I'm still seeing 6* Frog Prince as your leader. And I agree on the Crystal Phoenix--taking more damage from the Phoenix Prince does not seem like a useful active skill to have.
I'm sorry, my nature team was in context when I logged out. Should be water now. Apologies. I was also able to evolve my phoenix and give him a couple levels, so he's a bit more buff now.
Still seeing your frog dude as leader as well, but friend request sent. Currently have a fully pimped BBW as leader but do also have a fully pimped Red Riding Hood and a fully evolved Blazing Witch (with some potions and leveling to go). ID: pssbW1T9Jh
Confirmed: 1. Storm Sorceress's damage reduction affects the Phoenix Prince's attack but NOT the red-gem damage. (Which negates most of the reason I brought her along in the first place. I would assume Rapunzel is the same way.) 2. Someone at Blue Tea has a sick sense of humor re: the active on the Crystal Phoenix. The board churn it creates may help, but at the cost of putting up to 3000 self-damage on the board? The Dragonlite was a godsend, the Crystal is a double-edged sword. 3. Even a mediocre team with a Crystal Phoenix buddy can survive, as it gives you the HP to suck up red gem damage for a few turns and the stats to let large heart combos heal you substantially. Bring a lunch, though. An hour or so in, and I have Phoenix down to about 70% health.
The block wont help with dmg on red gems but it can block his regular attack. Nothing i know mitigates or blocks the red gem dmg but the bulk if the dmg taken should be from his regular attacks. Block can be useful if you have less hp, so its usefulness highly depends on your build. If you have very high hp and very high resist then its not very useful. However for the phoenix prince battle if you dont have very high hp then you need both resist and block. Without resist his regular attacks will do too much dmg when they dont get blocked. I would recommend using a crystal phoenix and get ready to slog it through very very slowly. No link generator is workable but will make things tight so you wint be freely linking. I think with the pet you can beat the boss but it will be an extremely long fight. Also if you bring a friends pet you can switch the resist pots from some of the other heroes as pet gives +30%.
I just made the Phoenix the leader of my A team, so try again. Edit Woohoo I beat it! Used my Phoenix AND Bune's Phoenix, plus Snow White, Mountain Dwarf and Raiding Pirate. Maxed out Fire Resist but no link regen, so it took a while, about 20 minutes. So friggin psyched! Thanks for the help guys.
Got the friend connection and see the Phoenix now. More importantly- congrats!! I've only tried once and got my butt handed to me. I can take the hits but the one aspect I don't really have covered is healing with other than gems. I don't fully understand the red gem damage either.
Interesting. Thanks for the explanation and strategy. I guess going in with Blazing Witch for resistance and Red Riding Hood as my link maker has its definite downside! Not to mention Inferno Druid as my only healer. Ugh! Don't think I'm built for this one other than my BBW! I've also got a Cinderella and Queen Snow White but just buffing attack and defense doesn't seem like enough. Oh well. At least I can farm Heroic in my sleep this time around.
Angeline and I both got Phoenix Princes, so sweet. Strategy/Team information below: Phoenix Prince's Lair 1 Battle 20k XP 7.15k Gold The legendary Phoenix Prince is back, and you gotta beat him down to add him to your team. His damage isn't so bad, fully resisted you'll take about 3k damage from him, per turn. His trick is that he does 300 unresistable damage per fire gem consumed in a turn. So, if you match 10 fire gems (intentionally or unintentionally), be prepared to take 3,000 damage. The team I used (0-Stone): Lancelot - Level 100, full potions, 14% Fire Resist Prince Charming - Level 71, full potions, 2% crit chance Snow White - Level 50, no potions, 7% Fire Resist Big Bad Wolf - Level 78, full potions, 3% crit chance Friend - Crystal Phoenix - Level 62, dunno about potions, 10% Fire Resist Sooo, I might have had a little too much fire resist, but that's alright. I also had 118 Link. The battle takes forever, so here's a few points: 1) If you have a lot of heart gems on the board, that probably won't be matched in a cascade, go ahead and try to clear a bunch of Fire gems. Gets more up, and you can heal the next turn. 2) Use skills liberally (except for BBW, of course). I mean, if there's only two nature gems on the board, probably don't use Charming. Otherwise, go nuts. 3) Use link liberally, but don't go wild. With a link regenerator like Lancelot, and cascades, you'll probably never have much trouble, but don't let yourself run out. Use Lancelot's active every time you can get the full 25 links from it. 4) Try to alternate between "Building up" and "Attacking" stages, where you're trying to minimize the number of red gems matched, and then going nuts and matching all the damage you can. 5) If you can match 1 red gem to avoid matching more, it's probably a pretty good trade. In short: Use your skills wisely, have lots of HP, and link regeneration. And fire resist. Maxed out fire resist makes it a walk in the park.
Haha i tried using rapunzel earlier i wanted to see if her passive would go off with the red gems. Unfortunately it didnt but if it would have worked it would have been amazing.
Thanks for the inspiration, Popfaec (and thanks for the Crystal Phoenix, Havelcek)! Did it!!! It was such a tank crew with that group (37k+ HP - BBW, RRH, Inferno Druid - useless, Blazing Witch, and Havelcek's CP) that it took me 2 hours, almost to the friggin' minute. I rarely got under 50% HP but man was it a slog. I was able to instantly get my new prize to 60 with all the Heroic farming, but have to wait until Tuesday for another dragon skull Anyway, thanks again guys! Can't believe I waited so long to do it. I had over 200 keys and had only tried the battle one time previously, thinking I had no business in there.
