    @ arglactable,
You say you give five star reviews to the best games, and one star to games that are a "waste of time."
But in your argument, wouldn't the people who gave TTL one star say it was because it was a waste of time?

Just because you gave away your app for free doesnt mean you should get a good review. If its free and its crap 1*

Another think why do you guys care if a developer uses FAAD. Is it your money, No. You app? No. Will it affect other developers? Probable, But who care, they don't pay my bills. Is he misleading any developer with the cost or does he put it up then billing you? No. Does any app going free Have any effect on your life? No get over it

FAAD might not help everyone but given the fact that it went from 1 to 4 apps, and it now has an app by it self and getting way better games. It seems like he has a good developer base.

So as much as it might affect some customers. I think it buyers remorse. Everyone feels bad when things go on sell after you bought them well unless you don't appreciate money

Were all these guys that are complaining about things going free are the same people that complained when people starting introducing $0.99 Sales. No ones ever going to buy them at full price any more.

Apps Are To Expensive(10$+), apps are To Cheap(Free). Is there anything that you guys wont complain about

    :)

    Bottom line:

"We give free apps, end-users are happy, developers make more money"

    Move along...

    Hi,

There you go again, not telling the truth, you promote apps that developers give away, some end users are happy as well as some developers make money.

Last app YOU gave away was?

Must not have enjoyed the dip in the ocean. :D

Developers are under no illusion about how FAAD works. A lot of them are understandably appalled at the idea that ICS charge for the service and walk away in disgust at the very idea. Some of us, on the other hand, open FAAD in one window and appannie.com in another and take a look at the chart positions of previous featured apps and conclude that, for most decent games it works.

Don't take my word for it, watch Tilt To Live when it goes back to paid, when hundreds of thousands of extra people who didn't know it existed are playing the game and showing their friends.

There are several threads in the TA Devs forums here and here for example where devs talk about their actual experience.

Well he did give away Advanced Navy Patrol which was made by ICS Moblie :). But yes they do say it the wrong way by saying they give away the apps. It is the developers who give the app away, but FAAD gives them incentive to do

There are some problems with FAAD works. Such examples include devs putting multiple apps which leads potential buyers to never buy their app. Another is people waiting for the app they want to go free.

These can probably be controlled a bit by allowing only one app per dev or even having a list of apps that have no chance of going free(eg. SQH and Canabalt).

But again it all really depends on the market and the app for sale.

    Hi,

GlennX, thanks for the information and insight.

I just get riled up when someone misrepresents what they provide and motive for doing so.

I understand the service and can see that it does help certain developers.

Just tired of ICS Mobile saying they do things they do not, stating they give free apps away when most intelligent members here understand that it is developers giving the apps away.

Post #84 in this thread is the latest exammple of this.

Apologies for ranting to you, I am sure you are more aware of the workings and methods here than I am.

Again, thanks for the information and insight.

Btw, I did buy and enjoy Ground Effect a lot.

This is probably going to make people mad, but have you considered that maybe some games aren't good enough?

Yes, there are problems like overwhelming competition and big studios which push indies out. But there are lots of successful indie games that have done perfectly well without the need for FAAD- Hook Champ, Canabalt, and LASW to name a few.

There are a few good games that don't get the attention they deserve...but really, how many of the apps in these free giveaways are truly exceptional and worth people's time?

    Hi,

SkyMuffin, I have nine apps, I think, currently on my device, that were a part of one of these free app giveaways.

Of the nine, eight of these I bought before they were a part of one of these promotions, and they are still on my device.

Yes, I have more that I have tried or bought before they were featured in of these promotions and do not play but they do help, how much may be debated.

I think promotion is a good thing, just tired of the misleading information put forth by ICS Mobile.

There is no vendetta here, jst setting the record straight, even a few compliments tossed in too.

My editor in chief!:D Listen, kuddos for being the language police, you are doing an excellent job at it!

This is so obvious that developers are giving their app away that I am skipping that part, I mean seriously who needs to reiterate that basic premise, if you feel like I misrepresented some point on purpose sorry about that, but everyone who understand how this business work don't even bother with this detail which brings nothing to the table. What matters is that we are working with developers to optimize their visibility and increase their cash flow. If you want to know everything about what we do there is tones of literature online and I always recommend our devs to do so and investigate first. Most successful Devs are not 13 year old kids working in their basement, they are experienced individuals who are constantly studying their craft. As far as the exact details of how we do things sorry can't reveal you that part! Bottom line

And thanks the ocean was fantastic today! :D

    Hi,

It is so obvious and yet you constantly misrepresent this fact to your advantage.

When you misrepresent one fact, who is to say you are not doing the same thing with other facts.

Putting yourself out in the public like you have, opens you up to scrutiny such as what has gone on this thread as well as those linked by GlennX.

Glad the ocean was fantastic. :D

You people on here whine about everything. Like seriously, who the hell cares about this? It doesnt effect you if some devs collapse because of FAAD.
