    Perv, why do you care?
It's now a % of the sales after the price goes back to paid. That's why they keep the paid up there now.

I actually want more crapps. I'm already backed up. They need to stop this or I'll stop buying games because I won't have time to play them. I would pay if there wasn't this faad systems in place.

Well... another person thinking about stopping to buy games. Proves my theory more and more.

And the downward spiral turns faster... now even Babylon Twins went free on FAAD... it's unbelievable.

Well, I am [really] looking forward to more and more low-quality games nobody wants to buy. But when devs are lacking funds to spend on the developement of good games... well - you get the idea.

Babylon Twins?!! I wonder when devs do this do they get like 'the look of shame or the walk of shame'. like when you decide to hit on the fat person because your all alone and desperate

I was actually just thinking how I hadn't got time to BT, & now it's free. I felt a twang of guilt of buying it, for get this, a dollar. I felt terrible about feeling that way.

BT is one of the best free games in ages. Good stuff.

Bad stuff, bad stuff. This might be the end of quality iPhone titles.

One person's good stuff, is another person's bad. :(

  8. This is almost as good as it gets... What are you playing that you think is so good?

    Hi,

What I took away from the post by Mondae talking of bad stuff was this, when a developer needs to give away a game of the quality of BT to get noticed, there is something wrong with the market.

This is what I took as the bad stuff, not the game, but the giving away of such a quality game.

If I am wrong, Mondae, I am sure will correct me.

its very interesting that the devs are not using the free app a DAY service but they are offering it many times for almost a week and longer.
actually a 24h period (as it started) is a good idea, since you have the chance to miss it and buy it afterwards, but now you can say, oh... "lets download that tomorrow or so"

My point is this: the 24h period was a good idea and not harming the market but the many many good titles for free for a week are harming. anyone with me!? :)

Ya, it was. I played through three levels & I'm just amazed at the quality. BT is one of the platformers on the medium. This is one of the many games, I'm sad to see go free.

I think you're right with what Mondae meant.
What you said here are exactly my thoughts.

David, I think you have a point. Going free for a day may well enhance exposure for the game. Going free for the whole week may be a finger up to those who bought it full price/on release.

I'm not sure how I feel about Free App websites, but I'm not going to turn down something awesome and free when I stumble on it.

I can absolutely see why you feel the way you do about it though Mondae.

  15. Ohhhhh I misinterpreted you.

Yes, something is wrong with the market. Ipod users expect free games.

Exactly, but three days? You're giving you're game away to hundreds of thousands, then expecting downloads. People will wait for it to go free in a while, cause you already pumped out your game once, you'll do it again.

Currently, I'm on a low income sorta. Couldn't find a summer job & have school tuition.

    Hi,

Unfortunately too, is the fact that people see a game of this quality go free and think all games like this, in price and quality, will go free and do not buy to support the developer, eventually forcing them to go the free for a day route for exposure.

    Big vicious circle.

Yep - and exactly that's the point I was talking about the whole thread long.

With Babylon Twins now free, the situation is worser than I thought. If a game like this goes free, you can easily see the damage that was already caused by free app sites like FAAD.

ICS comes up with statistics? So will I do soon.
I have gathered a lot of facts over the last week which I want to show to the public - and I will explain why a system like FAAD might work in the beginning but causes even more damage in the end.
I watched many pages like Topappcharts and came to some frightening conclusions.

I'm willing to pay for app sure. I cant say no to decent free games. I had no intentions of picking up babylonian twins at all but now I will be able to check it out. If it's good, then I'm more likely to pay for future games from that developer. One of the first free games I got was the Lawn mowing game from donut games. I've gotten other free donuts. Now once, I finish off/get bored with games I currently have, I'm willing to purchase any and all donut games that I dont have. I think the FAAD thing would work well for old games that people may have forgotten about or people that didnt have an idevice when it came out. Also its a good thing for an older game from a developer to go free when a new game from the developer has gone out. I enjoy all the free games and feel spoiled by them. But I dont expect them. Especially not newer ones and fuller console game types.

I think sales work better if they are advertised well.
