Hello, My name is Michael Yatskar, and I am an experienced 2D game artist. I have been working with independent clients within the industry for over 8 years. I can provide concept art, animated sprites, backgrounds, and GUI elements for your game. My pricing is very indie-friendly! I offer concept art starting at $5 per piece, and sprites starting at $2.50 per frame. Without further ado, I am including some links to sample art below. Retro-styled concept art and sprite: Fighting game concept and sprite: (WIP) High-res overhead sprite walk/attack cycle tests: Logo design: Environmental objects concept art (created for The Repopulation MMO) Link to a screenshot from The Repopulation (features some of my GUI work) http://71.18.167.9/freedomtownrevamp.jpg Thank you for taking the time to look at my work. Please don't hesitate to contact me at sleepingpaint(at)gmail(dot)com if you have any questions or would like an estimate for your project!
The screenshots from The Repopulation are just stunning. How much of that was created by you? And the high-res overhead sprite was very well-done.
The Repopulation is made by a team of absolutely amazing guys. My contributions to the game thus far have consisted of a pretty big batch of environmental concept art and a fair bit of GUI stuff (which we're still in the process of reworking.) Glad you like the sprite! I will probably post a batch of new work within the next few weeks. I've been keeping busy.
In an effort to pick up a few new clients, I am significantly discounting my already low prices. If you are a developer with a brilliant idea or a small indie company with a great project in the works, consider me for your 2D art needs! I will only be able to accept a limited number of projects within the next few weeks, so this discount is first-come, first-served. Here are a few links to some of my recent work. An icon and a background done for 7-Second Arcade: A background for a personal project: A low-level enemy and some GUI elements from the upcoming game, Crimson Remnants: Interested parties can PM me or send an email to [email protected] Thank you for your interest!
What type of equipment do you use? I am really getting into 2D design, doing all the art work for my upcoming app, and don't know what I should be using (A mouse is a pain to use, and I was thinking about getting a Wacom tablet.) Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Also does the Wacom Bamboo tablets work with photoshop? Thats my main medium for art design. If not then do you know of any tablets that do? I need something with a pen obviously, and within lets say $120. Thanks!!
I use Photoshop and Image Ready to create most of my graphics and animation. I do a lot of my rough work on actual honest-to-goodness paper and scan it. Surprisingly enough, my tablets don't get an awful lot of use! The best advice I can give you is to try out all sorts of different tools to see what you're comfortable with. Most other game artists that I've spoken to personally do make good use of their tablets, and I can tell you that Bamboo tablets do work well with Photoshop. I hope that answers your questions!
awesome! And I was actually asked by a dev to do some 2D work for them for their upcoming shump. Seeing as how I am very inexperienced I gave them your TA name and told them to contact you. He wants me to do the icon and splash screen but without the games art work I cannot design them :/ You're work is very good, so they should contact you soon.
I still want to do my game Hi, I like your concept art samples. When you say concept that means is not final art? What about final artwork? How much will cost final pieces? Thanks
Been a while since I've posted. I have some more experience and a few finished projects under my belt. I am including links to some art and a few games that I've worked on below. Included are test animations for a high-res sprite, a screen for an upcoming game, a cartoon-styled logo and a tile map. If you like what you see and think you would like to hire me for your project, please send an email to [email protected]. Here is a link to a project I have recently completed for one of my GameSalad clients... http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/higher-7-lower/id425278009?mt=8 And below is a link to an older post on the GameSalad forum, including some older art and links to more previously completed games. http://gamesalad.com/forums/topic.php?id=20821#post-157784 I look forward to hearing from you!
