I prefer 98 over I 2012 because on 4 inch devices there are some annoying black bars and since I have a controller 98 is the best! Still remember it playing on my old PC and endind it multiple times in a single day!
Okay. I appreciate the explanation. I'm gonna get 98 but not 97. Next question is the difference between KOF i and KOF i2012. Then how does Samurai Showdown factor into it all? And thank you again.
KoF-i 2012 added some modes (I know that Time Trial is one of them, IDK about the rest), more characters and online multiplayer.
Wow didn't even know KOF '98 was out on iOS until this sale. Grabbed that one straight away as it was my favourite back in the day. But based on your reviews. I picked up 2012 too. Tempted by samurai showdown
I'm not sure if I like 98 more than 97... I played not on Dreamcast quite a bit. I need to grab another iTunes card and just get everything I don't already own from this sale.
I prefer 98 because it is 97 improved with a better balance, characters from the previous games not available on 97 and different versions of the same characters (with different moves)... But I bought both!
I ended up getting 97 because 98 is ios7 only (same for i2012). Grabbed Metal Slug 2 because I already own 1 & 3 and the reviews for X were mixed with some crashing issues where as 2 seems to be the most solid of all the Slug games on iOS. I really just bought these for giggles since I have other means for playing the entire NeoGeo library on the go. Still it's nice having these games in my library.
Can someone please help me? I just picked up metal slug 3. It's great but the controls are not really optimized for the iPad mini retina, the d pad is too small. Are all the metal slug games like this? Thanks.
Picked up KoF 97 and 98 as well as Metal Slug 2 and 3 (owned 1 and X already). When I search for KoF i2012 there are no results and when I go to SNK's actual iTunes page, there's nothing but 97 and 98. Edit: never mind, it's because it's iPhone only, not universal and I was on "iPad only" on my iPad App Store.
Between what I had before and what I bought I now have everything but Samurai Showdown and Rhythm of Fighters, those two just don't appeal to me and I have to leave something for next time. Started playing KoF i 2012 last night and really enjoying it to the point that I redownloaded Volt and Marvel vs Capcom 2. Fun stuff!
I check your list and website religiously. Awesome site by the way. Really tempted to turn my 5 into a gaming only device after the 6 comes out and grab a Razer Junglecat. Great to see some classic SNK and Dotemu titles on the list! (there, I pulled it back on topic!) That was the only reason I got both KOF i and KOF i2012.
Every DotEmu's SNK port I've played has iCade support: KOF 97, KOF 98, Samurai Shodown II, Blazing Star and Metal Slug.
