so indeed, the strikerless Spaniards battled hard with the Italians. I actually could not watch the game but heard that it been quite dramatic in the end. now I am waiting for the exciting early match between France and England - this one can go either way really, very difficult to predict. I'm gonna go with a draw here.

Del Bosque's tactics severely backfired. Starting the game without a recognised striker was a very foolish thing to do.

Spain... lost all the magic and glamour they once had. Same applies to Portugal.
    Croatians are strong and powerful.

They've still got the magic. They just don't have a proper striker!

Nice to see Shevchenko still has it, I thought he was probably past it to be honest but two already. I'd say he's in my top five strikers ever list but of course below George Best.

Still the game could go either way right now.

a bit of an upset this result. didn't expect them to play that well and at all did not expect them to win. i lost my bet money, but i am happy that shev scored twice. he's a legend.

Spain is like a toothless tiger. No good strikers now. XD they are doomed.

My prediction is on track. Russia will reach the final against Germany.

I have to say, with a lot of pain in my heart (I'm Dutch;)) that Germany will win the cup this year.

I wouldn't rule out Torres coming good... Regardless, Spain won the world cup with low scoring games, losing their first group game against Switzerland. They have plenty of players who can score the one goal they'll probably require each match.

Looking forward to your matchup tomorrow :) Neds were actually my tip for the final, perhaps we'll learn a lot tomorrow.

    my prediction for today's games:
Germany will defeat Holland (it can go either way but the former are better as a team IMO)
Portugal and Denmark will split the points with a draw

I'm going for 2-1 to the Dutch and 2-1 to Denmark, with the hope we'll see Ronaldo cry again :p

so the dutch are almost ready to go back home now. one of the tournament favorites and they will have to defeat Portugal just to have a shot at staying in. Germany will probably rest some players in the game vs Denmark because they are already in the quarters.. this will make the Danes chance of winning a bit higher.

Germany haven't qualified for the quarters... A loss to the Danes and a victory by Portugal could eliminate Germany...

Upset in Group A. I'd have thought that Russia and Poland would be the ones to progress, but miraculously, it's the Greeks and Czechs who are through!

Exactly. Russia play very attractive football. It's a shame that they couldn't pull through.
