    alright! so it begins tomorrow.. i don't know what about you guys, but i am super excited about the event! been waiting for this. put some money the Spaniards to win it, but obviously it is a very difficult spread.

    Tournament map

    what are your expectations from the event, and who do you think is going to win it?

    I expect Germany to win the Euros. :) Spain have lost their top goal scorer by about 16 goals, David Villa, and arguably their most inspiring player, Puyol.

    voted England who I would like to see win it, but realisticly I think the winner of Group B will probably take it. So either Netherlands , Portugal or Germany but there are other very strong teams like Spain who could easily do it if they are in form.

    Just hope there no stupid vuvuzelas this time.

    I have a strange feeling that France will cause a major upset in this tournament. Not saying they'll win but they're going far

    Not expecting much from England at all, bit of a transitional squad at the moment and with Rooney out for 2 games its not good. Shame as in qualifying they were superb but now its quite a changed squad due to injuries/changes.

    Most tournaments the country gets a bit too hyped about their chances, this year everyone isnt expecting much so thats probably a good way to go about it.

    I just hope this tournament isnt ruined by the racists, keep hearing reports of players training/doing public events getting racist chants from a few. The sad thing is the 'few' could ruin it.

    On the plus side theres no annoying vuvuzela's (sounds like a swarm of bees) like there was at the South African World Cup so at least the atmosphere 'should' be decent.

    yeah. i'm 2 for 2.

    Poland turned out to be the weakest team in the group. they got the first goal early on with the help of the initial adrenaline, but even when they played against ten Greek players they still were the lesser team and the draw is a good result for them.

    Russia are the favorites to take the group. they were much better than the Czech and i believe they will win the group and then it will be interesting to see how they will play in the quarters against the 2nd team from the group of death.

    my predictions for day-2 games:
    netherlands v denmark :: netherlands
    germany v portugal :: germany

    I don't follow football (or any other competitive sport besides MotoGP), but I hope Germany wins.

    Pretty amazed Denmark beat the Netherlands could be a bad tournament for them. I think Germany should take the next game but I think it will be close and this could be the game that decides the whole Tournament.

    Today's matches were utter crap compared to the Brazil - Argentina game. Messi scored a hat-trick for Argentina; the game finished 4-3. That should put doubters about Messi being the best in the world - maybe ever - to rest.

    He is the best but people will try and deny it anyway.

    Looking forward to the match tomorrow. I really don't know what to expect from us but hopefully we can get something against Croatia.

    Australia, mate!
    Except you forgot to mention that both teams played without a defense.

    Netherlands will still have a chance to win it as long as they play The Hunter over Robin.

    Rooney in euro 2004 - ok, now i'm not so sure. He was shockingly bad in the 2010 WC - his first touch all but deserted him... And yes Rooney, the home fans will boo you when you're that shit! I'm delighted he misses the first two games tbh. But there are other problems...

    Ferdinand's omission was just RIDICULOUS and clearly nothing to do with "footballing reasons"

    Donkey Carol rather than talented Crouch, for our 'big man' ??

    G Johnson will start at RB but he's a liability in defence... Great he gets forward, but i'd rather have a better defender in that position. Micah Richards is not only better in defence, but he also bombs forward.

    BUT... There are positives also;

    Lampard is injured!!!! Thank god we wont see another manager trying to play Lampard & Gerrard together!

    Parker is absolute quality, epitomising everything an England player should be in terms of work ethic and professionalism

    Welbeck's goal against Belgium was fantastic... The fact he helped win possession with Gerrard and then charged into the box to apply a quality finish. I hope he starts the first two games.

    The squad is ok. if Hodgson can get them organised i think we'll do alright. I doubt we'll get much from France, but like a true England supporter, i'll have blind faith during every game :)

    Did you even watch the match? The game was amazing in all areas of the field.

    i have a feeling that Italy is going to cause some sort of upset today. the Spanish have difficulty against rigid defenses, and the Italians are traditionally known to be very stubborn opponents.
