Its a selling point for me too. I personally think that a good solid dual stick shooter that had matchmaking multiplayer matches (like 4v4 or 5v5) would be sick. Dual stick shooters are always a bit easier to for users to play than FPSgranted some do it better than others. I won't lie to you, though, and tell you its 100%nothing ever is. But, all I'll say is the current version on the app store has the multiplayer networking code in it alreadyinaccessible, of course, but the foundation is there. How much do you think you'd play an online multiplayer dual stick shooter? With all the FPS multiplayers going on, would you ever prefer a dual stick shooter?
I think I'd be more likely to pick up and play and enjoy a dual stick multiplayer than an FPS. Mainly because it would be easier to get my rl friends to play with than an FPS. My girlfriend for instance, plays no FPS titles, plays the hell out of Minigore, Revolt, and Creatures. EDIT: And I'll be picking this up come midnight GMT, had no idea it was coming, but looks great. My flings are itching for something new to play with.
It depends on how fun the DSS multiplayer is. For me personally, if I wanted to play an FPS (which is rare for me), I'd get one for the PC. I can't stand FPS controls on an iPhone. OTOH, the controls for dual-stick shooters work very well.
Sounds like there might be some similar thoughts on DSS multiplayer. I too have friends who while I kick their trash via Xbox, might be more willing to get trashed in a DSS rather than a FPS. At least there would be less complaints about controls being tricky and all. Alright, I'm on it (after a couple content/tweaking updates of course)!
I liked Revolt. On the other hand this look bland and generic to me for some reason. I hope I'm wrong since I'm about to pick it up regardless though.
Picked this up not had too much time with it and am enjoying it so far but early days . One thing I have noticed is when a lot is happening on screen or a lot of explosions there is a bit of slowdown
Game Impressions Yes, ironically enough after the Revolt comments earlier, my very first impression of this game was accompanied by stutter and slow down as the first wave of enemies appeared on screen. I've since set the camera to "simple" which should alleviate the problem but now it seems to zoom out so much for some reason it's very hard to tell what's going on. And the movement/scrolling is still far from 100% smooth. An absolute mess of buttons on screen obscure the action and don't make things any easier. I expect this is much less of an issue for iPad users but doesn't help those without one much. Not giving up on this completely just yet, but when a game feels like a slog after the first few minutes of play it's generally not a good sign.
It's due to some dynamic lights in the scenes and for the most part it should goes away after you've played for a minute or two. However, there is already an update (in pre-submission QA) that will give the option to turn the dynamic lights on/off. While they are awesome to watch when you shoot stuff, without them the game is buttery smooth-explosions and all. Of course, the game still looks great without them but I love em too much to cut them out completely. The update will come with another arena map and further memory optimizations as well.
Ok that's cool and yeah your right they are a little less frequent the more you play so far I'm enjoying it Edit: One thing I have noticed is that the firing button on the iPad could do with being a little bigger
Me too, i picked it up for free during the holidays but never played it till a week or so ago, since then have played the hell of out it, have had no problems, seems that way in the UK store reviews, its all either five star love it or 1 stars crash problems. Oh well, lucky i guess. Anyway, installing Etolis now! Looking forward to this. Update: Played for about 30 minutes, theres a lot to like! Graphics are good. Although its lacking in some areas, the control buttons on the iPad are a little too close and small for my liking, and dont work well with Flings. With them, i cant hit all the buttons, like cloak and sprint, without them, i find myself using them when i dont want to. Ive had no crashing problems on iPad, not tried on my iphone yet, its definitly worth the money, but lacking a certain something Revolt has. Cant quite put my finger on what.
Ahh ... the older and ghetto trailer. Its old and out of datetook it down. It was based on development almost 3 months ago.
