Best All-Around Weapon Advice Please? "'

    Hello!

I am hoping for some insight into what the best weapon is as normally I would think the 'Most Expensive' would be the best, but when looking at all of the weapon statistics, most commonly Damage, I am confused.

    The Straight Razor has a damage stat of 14 and Rate of Fire as .16 and is quite a bit cheaper than the most expensive;
Scorcher which has a Damage of three(3) and a Rate of fire of .18 but it also has 'Faster Turning'.

    Thoughts please?

Has anyone found a weapon that is superior to others?
The weapons that have a very High Damage, also have the longest Rate of fire of course, and they don't appeal to me.

    Any information is much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

Burners, Homings, and now, the Dual-Targetting Lasers (surprisingly good when you figure out how to maximize them) are what i find to be the most consistent weapon types.

The Gusher (burner) still seems to be dishing out the highest damage over time, simply because it deals consistent damage even when targets are in cover.

Lelantos (homing) is very consistent coz almost every shot hits all the time, and even when a target is missed, the other shots dont go to waste as they could potentially switch targets.

Im really enjoying Scorcher lately too, coz it hits enemies in cover, and the versatility of dealing moderate DoT to 2 targets or dealing full damage to a single target is pretty handy. Those pesky tin can zombies and the flying drones are easily dispatched.

Uppercut (impact-type)is still best when starting out coz it's a great farming weapon and the cheapest tier-3 weapon. Plus, i mentioned a few posts back how to maximize it's use to farm credits the fastest as soon as you get to buy this weapon.

Sounds difficult to the point of being masochistic, but awesome nonetheless. I'd love to see this.

Thanks Ed... I think this idea becomes very skill+patience focused and it'll be pretty cool to play and replay for farming and practice.

Maybe i should try bugging you guys in your facebook page? :D

I'm a big fan of the electric weapons, the homing one has very fast reload times so it will be a huge help to get you through time trials. The dual laser is great because it pretty much ignores cover, and the low damage is only because it attacks pretty rapidly, and each of the 2 lasers individually deal that damage. I recently bought the chaining lightning weapon and found it works great against groups of enemies, plus it combos well with overdrive because projectile velocity is instant.

Just about every weapon is useful in some way shape or form. The only weapons I would avoid using at this point are the grenade launcher (difficult to use against fast moving enemies, especially flying ones), the sniper (hard to dodge and use it simultaneously), and maybe the burner (in my experience, enemies don't spend too long in any one place, so you have to keep switching your aim around, not terrible but not ideal). All the others have useful perks.

Maybe not, coz my suggested battles are 1v1, which makes tracking enemy movement/attacks a lot less daunting than having 3 melee bosses shoot stun shots and jump around like crazy.

I think pushing it to being masoochistic is a no-gadgets mode where you cant use any activated ability (grenade, missiles or utility skills). :D:D:D

As long as you have targetted an enemy, even if the animation doesnt hit, their HP is being drained, effectively making the weapon an auto-hit, and it ignores cover, effectively making it pretty strong when it comes to DoT coz you never stop dealing damage. Works very well in conjuction with slows, stuns and barriers.

Well I was thinking about the OGRE, which is essentially several enemies in one. But yeah, one might be fun. So long as its something like the last boss, where it has a wide variety of different skills and abilities to keep you on your toes. I think if it were just one giant melee bot I'd lose interest pretty quickly, they're not that dangerous on their own.

OGRE is a lot tamer in E.2 than in E.1's Ultra. He is just plain brutal in E.1. :D

There was a point in time where i thought 1v1's are going to be boring (like a single player fighting game), until i realized Monster Hunter and Shadow of the Colossus are my most favorite games ever.

Never reached him in Ultra, but given that I couldn't clear the last few levels in ultra in E1, I doubt I would've done well against him.

Hopefully I can find a way to finish Iron mode in E2. I'm about halfway in and I've hit a wall.

    My wishlist for Epoch 3
    - iCloud.
    - Loot after a mission with parts of the robots.
    - Lots of craftable weapons/armors/etc with those parts (some items still available in the shop).
    - Craftable weapons with custom effects (think of Gods Eater bullet editor).
    - More extra missions per level.
    - Upgradable equipment.
    - Boss-only levels to gather boss parts.
    - Secret levels and bosses unlocked after meeting some goals (maybe some intercepts could talk about those places).
    - Charge beam? (I don't remember using it).

Just like the first one, I loved Epoch 2, just wished it had some more replayability and secrets.

idea for a utility: teleporter. Will instantly teleport you to the coverpoint you would normally dodge to, activated the same way as a normal dodge, you can use it a set amount of times (maybe 5-10) before it has to recharge, while it's on recharge you just dodge normally. Maybe use two charges to teleport to a cover point two standard dodges away.

Other idea: bullet deflector, similar to "return to sender" in bioshock. Activate it, let enemies attack you with bullets, lasers, any projectile that's not grenades (or maybe grenades, if you want it to be more powerful) after a set amount of time passes all of those projectiles are fired back at the ones who fired them.

Teleporter seems like a solid idea, my suggestion is to make it "teleporting while firing or even reloading" to make it more useful than the usual dodges. ;)

The deflector idea seems solid, but it may veer too much away from the norm that each utility skill is a defensive maneuver. Nonetheless, a great idea that could bring a lot more variety.

As an aside, we just made the original EPOCH free for the holiday season. I'm sure you all already own it, but why not let a friend know ;) You can get it HERE.

    Both good ideas!

To keep it in line with the other Boosters, I'd make the teleporter duration-based, so you can just roll/super instantly for a limited time.

Bullet deflection was actually an enemy buffing effect that we cut from the final game, mostly because it was too hard to tell that enemies were having it applied. But it would work much better as a player power, similar to the Barrier.

Could you combo the roll booster with the existing fire-rate booster? I never really used that one much since it didn't seem to be that effective next to the other supers, but if it allowed me to dodge super fast as well as increasing my fire rate I think I'd definitely consider it. Sort of a real-time version of overdrive.

Also would love to see bullet deflection in there, and it sounds pretty feasible since you guys were already working on it. And a few pages back EP and I suggested that the sniper target the head instead of the body, which would help improve its feasiblity drastically, as you could aim at enemies behind cover. Or you could replace the bar with a lock-on period that moved the aim from the enemy's body to its head, which would also more easily explain the difference in damage dealt.

I dont think it does right now, but this game doesnt need it. Uppercut could probably implement it, but EPOCH.1 and 2 are designed to be played on the touchscreen, and they really nailed it on this department. One of the most innovative control schemes in the appstore that works perfectly.

Played this for about an hour now and the visuals do look so much better on the ipad air than the ipad mini 1.

One thing that bothers me (although a minor bother), is that the ipad air heats up a lot faster playing EPOCH.2 than it does with either Anomaly 2 or IB3.

EPOCH.2 is currently on sale for $2.99, one of the best games of the year, one of the most original game series, and one of the most frantic shooter action ever to grace the appstore. PLUS, Uppercut proved with the first EPOCH that they consistently and constantly update their apps, as seen with EPOCH.2's first content update, so we know for a fact this game is so much bang for your buck.
