Although the features don't look like they've been updated much from v1.0, I'm still thinking of tossing them a fiver. I left a review that I will repeat here. It was great to see this app get a new version… But it seems like it needs a bit more time in the development oven. On the opening screen, pressing “intro” did nothing - unless it was audio only, my sound was off. After pressing the enter button I turned my sound on, but I don’t see a way to go back to the title screen. In the tasks screen tapping the date to add another quest to that day as instructed does nothing. In the scrolls screen pressing + to add subtasks doesn’t have feedback, like automatically taking me to the text bar to name it, instead you have to click it to name it; I added 15 subtasks to the second scroll because I had both sample scrolls open and didn’t see them being added at the bottom. Also, the same + to add a subtask is also used to open a scroll and there no clear way to close it again. + won’t do it. On the profile screen, pressing the green badge by the dwarf takes you to an introduction screen, pressing the green “play” badge eventually starts an audio clip, and the voice work is not great. I couldn’t sit through it. Also it is just audio, no subtitles, so if you’re deaf I guess you just miss out. The same person does all the voice work, and when you select avatars on the profile screen that’s obvious. The red badges next to each profile lead to quest pages and they all are locked. No idea what those are for. The loot screen shows a path and not the loot I unlocked. The background music doesn’t loop smoothly. So it’s good to have this app back, but it needs work. —- Not in the review because I noticed it later, there hasn’t been a single “animated battle” when completing a task so far. The background character animations on the profile screen are blurry. If they update it, it may be worth the $5 at some point, but right now I don’t feel like it is. podzilla Well-Known Member Nov 6, 2009 62 2 8 #4 podzilla, Apr 12, 2024 That is a huge bummer. The original app had so much potential and I was hoping that this new version could explore some of that. This sounds, though, like a warmed over version of the original. Collin Well-Known Member Jul 29, 2010 719 46 28 Graphic Designer/Illustrator/Art Director Colorado Springs, CO https://www.theislandsofmisfitcreativity.com/ #5 Collin, Apr 12, 2024 Yeah, it’s more of a rerelease than an upgrade. It’s been so long since the original app worked on my phone that I don’t recall if these are the same problems it had before. It’s just a hunch, but it feels like this release at this price is to gauge interest before spending more time and money on it, after whatever it took to get it working on the latest OS and hardware. I don’t know if these are the same devs who worked on the original, or some new company who acquired the IP. I went to the dev site from the App Store but only had tome to glance around. And the “other apps by this developer” on the store are an interesting collection. I don’t know if they took it down to work on it, or took it down for good (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
