Yes, but none of the imitators will "get" what makes Enviro-Bear work, so they will all suck just as badly as they look like they're supposed to but Enviro-Bear doesn't.
just hit top 100 games with 52 5* reviews out of 53 reviews. You know, the one thing this game needs more than anything else is an optional accelerometer driving. That would make it more of a game rather than a struggle. Got to level 5 last night too.
But then that would eliminate a part of what makes this game work. The whole idea is that you're a bear driving a car, so you have to control the car -- all of it. It's absurd, of course, and it's frustrating, but you're a freakin' bear driving a car. It's not supposed to be easy. Or make sense.
I do get the appeal of this 'game', but what is the goal exactly? I drive around eating fish 'n berries, and chucking badgers out of my car, and then hibernate, and do the same thing again! Huh, am I missing something? Do I have to eat a certain amount of fish in 5 minutes in order to progress to the next level? Where's the challenge? Or is it more like Pocket God? A sort of 'interactive' thing with no particular goal...
This game is seriously awesome. It's actually pretty fun, no kidding. The artwork just makes it hilarious.
Right, that explains a bit. I'm really trying to dig this game, but somehow it's not gelling for me. The steering wheel is bloody annoying. I know, I know, I'm a bear... Plus the game doesn't save! so you have to start the whole rather frustrating process again from the beginning if you leave. No score system, or way to compete with others is another downer. It's got that cult thing going for it with it's wacky theme, and light-hearted loopiness. But once you get passed that , I'm finding it not that rewarding.
i agree, those would be a good features...have it record the highest year (level) you've gotten to, and letting you start at the last year you completed
I downloaded this game after watching some of the videos. Just for the sheer laughs that this game brings to people I show it to makes it worth every penny I paid for it. Of course, I'm giggling to myself every time i play it too. Its seems that this game is getting some backlash for being so apparently low-production.. I can understand that being a developer myself. I've been working on iMech, which I hope most people would consider a slightly higher production title, yet I can't help but be drawn to EnviroBear 2010. I might be a bit jealous but certainly not spiteful, because I only wish I had thought of something like this first Most developers are trying to make something seriously cool, but it's nice to see a title like this with a sense of absurd humor. Reminds me of Ren & Stimpy. The only thing I think needs to be fixed is making the paw more responsive when I'm trying to grab stuff - especially when I'm trying to shift gears.
T-shirt We need a tshirt to help spread the awesomeness of enviro-bear. Anyone up to taking the title logo and a good screenshot/artwork and making one? Hey developer! Make us a tshirt! I'd wear a bear driving simulator shirt. Who's with me? Rixx
How far have people got with this? I made it to year five but then stuffed up. Gotta say, I cracked up when I found I could roll the car
yeah, i bot into the hype. It's a cult, and they got my 99 cents, oh well. It was gone after I did level 3 and 20 minutes. Even Zombies and Me is lasting longer on my device, and especially CRUSH BUNNY, love that game along with I Dig It, there's three 99cent winners, imo. Why do I always seem in the minority??
Enviro-Bear 2010 is the iPhone 2009 game of the year, and hopeful winner of the WWDC 2010 Apple Design Awards.
Because you lack the artistic acumen to truly appreciate Enviro-Bear for the masterwork of absurdism that it is. Also, you're comparing it to vastly different games, and that doesn't work. Not that anything else would, because there are no similar games. Enviro-Bear stands alone. Or rather sits. In his car. Glowering at you.
