Hey everyone, Newest version of our Energy App got released last night on the fourth of July. Youtube Video of it in action - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzshLtL2wBE Here is the link to the app store page. $0.99USD http://tinyurl.com/lf7j4s Energy is a glorified music player that is completely interactive. Launch the app a screen displays with a table view and you hit add music. You can add a playlist or create your own mini playlist in the tableview. You hit done and the music starts to play showing your list. You hit done one more time and the magic happens. The meat of Energy launches and It is beautiful. Touch with one finger and the bubbles follow you around. Touch with two fingers and time stops while rotating the system in a cool matrix like effect. You can also pinch/spread to zoom in and out. Here is the screens Thanks for looking! - Matt
Promo Codes! I am giving out 10 promo codes, maybe more. PM me for tone while they last. I would like to know your hardware (itouch, iphone 3g, iphone 3gs etc.) and some feedback on Energy either in here or through pm. Thanks everyone.
It's certainly an interesting app. I love the bubble graphics and stuff, though for some reason I don't think my single touch works. Is it meant to flip suddenly every so often as well? Because it seems a bit out of style that way. o_o Plus, is there a way to reaccess the playlist? I couldn't find one.
GaiaIllusion, It switches rotation every 5 seconds. When you touch and drag the bubbles should follow you around. When you use two fingers it should "stop time" and have the whole system rotate as well as the ability to zoom in and zoom out. This should work for you? Your saying it doesn't? Going back to the playlist is on my todo list. I also want to have an in app pause/stop, fast forward/rewind to the next/previous song. I am also going to add shuffle in using the accelerometer. If anyone else has any ideas for features in an update pass them my way. Already working on new additional effects. Was also thinking to change the color scheme in a menu or randomly.
Im having the same problem with my iPhone 3G. So Matt, here's some feedback. Hope its useful for you The animation seems to skip roughly every 5 seconds (I counted) I couldn't find a way to reaccess the menu either. Scrolling through the song names or artist, there is no alphabetized quick access on the right side (the one that shows A to Z, and scrolling to N would jump you straight to all the entries starting with N). It would be great if the animation could be more of a visualization: the beat of the song should change the animation somehow. I know this is hard, but maybe at least, when the song is ending, fade the amplitude of the animation (the wisps, the rings, the bubbling rate) and when a new song starts, bring these up again. Having said that, I really really love this app!! Going to use it everytime I dock my iPhone and play music with headphone at work The bubbles and the wispy effect (the one that looks like the northern lights) are really beautiful. And im on a 3G not 3GS. Oh and another thing, I love the slowing down effect that happens when I zoom in/out the screen. Im assuming that this is actually accidental? Can you make it the animation slow down everytime the screen is touched? Then maybe swiping across the screen can rotate the view up/down/left/right. With the bubbles all moving in slow motion, it feels like bullet time and is really awesome Edit Sorry, didnt see your reply Anyway, I think there is no need to switch direction. It looks more like its skipping than anything else If its switching direction, it should do so gently I think.
I might not be noticing the effect of the bubbles following due to the constant rotations occurring. Otherwise it might just not be working for me, because I didn't see any effect from it. The two-finger hold works perfectly as well as zooming. I can understand why it's not a visualizer though, due to Apple restrictions on music analyzing, but the colours are cool nonetheless.
Thanks Prab and GaiaIllusion. @GaiaIllusion - so when you touch the screen with one finger and drag around the screen you don't see the bubbles follow your finger? @Prab - Thanks I really appreciate it. Every 5 seconds I made a weird kinda effect that rotates the system the other way but does it abruptly by moving the camera a bit fast. I will take this out. I like your idea of touching the screen and having the system move with swipes up/down/left/right/diagonals. I will substitute the bubbles following for that one touch gesture. Really great idea. - No way to go back to the list as of yet. Adding that is simple. I will make it so you can rearrange the tracks in the list/and when you go back to the list. Ability to delete a track from the list. (NOT YOUR SONG but the item in the list that you would be playing). - I will change the menu to the better one where it has the alphabetized quick select with the letters/numbers on the side. I forgot that people have a lot of music . - Not exactly sure if I can make this a visualizer. I definitely can cycle effects and new effects ever so often or every song change. - As far as the zoom with the pinch and spread. That will enable the "bullet time effect" however you don't necessarily have to pinch and spread you can hold two fingers anywhere on the screen (as the app reads touch counts) without zooming in and out. @everyone If you are looking for battery life I would use the regular ipod player. If you want something cool to look at or show this off to your friends use Energy. While the battery will still last with Energy it wont nearly be as good as the regular ipod app due to the face that this is an OpenGL graphics application. My advice is to play it when you are docked, connected to a laptop, or plugged into the wall.
Mehware - I use a 3 GS, and so I did not realize that the stop was on purpose. It looks like a software glitch to me. It is abrupt. Overall is design is compelling, but I thought it would react to the music. Having bubbles coming out of the tip of fingers is nice. It would be nice to be more interactive with other objects. Like draging the white objects that release the bubbles. I think that having those change shape would be cool. Kind of like a snake that coils, then straghtens, moves to another area (or dragged by user), and goes thourgh random cycling again. When you tap on a song, it greys out, but the Plus key stays blue - maybe changing it to another color so user knows it was accepted? Multiple presses on the song inserts it multiple times, so I was not sure it was in, and found I had pressed it 3 times. No way to modify the list that you have added. Need to be able to delete songs accidentlly pressed, or no longer wanted. I liked the time slow down, and the ability to expand the screen, very cool. Needs a way to get back to the main menu. Does not need to be a visualizer, but needs a way for more pattern generation like MilkDrop, or Geiss, or AcidSpunk ala WinAmp (although I realize those ARE visualizers, but the pattern generation is ever changing). That all being said - still is a very cool looking visualization. Will look great on a dock. For being off dock, I am not sure how much battery power it takes, since the screen stays lit the whole time (I realize it needs to do this.). Will continue to follow this thread and make additional comments as I think of them.
Wow~~ I like where pluto6 is going with his ideas. The idea of making the animation more interactive is excellent. I think even if you just add more animations to the app, people would still be comparing Energy to desktop visualization apps where the app should beat to the music (animation should change). I dont think we can expect everyone to understand the restrictions of the API. But if you make the animation very interactive, you can package the app as an interactive entertainment app instead (think Koi Pond). Energy would become the app to use when you want to play music while docking your iDevice. You play music just like the iPod app, but have cool animations that you can play around with while your music is playing
Thanks for the ideas. I am looking for ideas for effects. I think I will have five or so different effects in the next update that gets triggered when the song changes. Just an FYI.. Don't forget you don't have to make a playlist you can select your own playlist you created in itunes or by artist. - Matt.
