Hahaha thanks guys. That piñata took me like 3 hours to draw, it honestly makes me laugh every time I see it, lol. Thanks for the feedback.
Scope suggestions As I was adding some additional collectibles in the game I had a thought. I was thinking it would be fun to involve the community in what gets added to the game in terms of scopes and reticles. So make some whacky suggestions and I'll do my best to add the best ones in the next update!
What about a new layer in the scope, to see darker/lighter, or even in different colours. What about a "Virtual Boy" scope which shows everything inside it in tones of red?
I like it! I'll pixel something up and post a screenshot of the new Virtual Boy scope. Ps. Does anyone know why Endless Sniper's icon doesn't show on the thread listing?
I'm not sure why the icon issue happens, but sometimes it does. I think it had to do with the app number assigned in the App Store being too long for the forum to manage or sth like that, but I'm not 100% sure.
So far the game hasn't been as successful as I had initially hoped it would be (downloads have tapered off at 100 downloads all up, with 1 or 2 additional downloads per day), but I'll keep pushing out updates and working on it! Just wanted to say a quick thanks to the TouchArcade community, too. You guys have been the main source of engagement and, as a developer, make the development process worth it. Cheers Dan.
Are you aware that the name of the game on the icon differs from the name you are using? The icon shows the name of the game as "Retro Sniper". Maybe the name discrepancy makes it harder for people to find it in the App Store?
I am painfully aware, lol. A minor update is currently in review which should take care of that oversight though. Funny/tragic story about that icon, I spent half a week learning how to use Illustrator and drawing up a cool looking character for a nice icon before deciding 'nah, pixels are nicer'
Maybe you can send promo codes of your game to the magazines/webpages. I know it sounds silly to send promo codes of a free game, but this way you're making them aware that your game in fact exists. Just an idea. The game is really good and it's a pity you've only got 100 downloads.
Good to see the people who are playing it, enjoy it. Shame it hasn't gotten into more hands. The AppStore is a crazy place tho. One day your scrounging to get 101 downloads, the next day, it's in the thousands.
Still enjoying this little gem. I even watch an ad here and there as a little support. Sometimes i have a platform all the way down in the right corner, hidden behind the visible (with a bit too small hit-box) shoot button. If there are those little green jumpy froggy aliens...game over for me, everytime. Dying due design, argh! Could this ironed out a bit better, please? Also, an opacity option for the buttons would be very appreciated. I don't know how much motivation for you, my dear Dev, is left for further updates. Just checked the remaining 65 people on GC, pity.
You guys are too kind. Best community on the internet. Truly. This won't discourage me from updating the game and developing more games though (NOEN is very encouraging). To be fair, there are games that are MUCH better than Endless Sniper which deserve the downloads, so if anything I'm pushed to make better games. For now, I can promise that the next major update of the game will include bigger hit boxes for the shoot buttons, and a fix that should eliminate death due to bad design (you're totally right Qwertz555) and a special new scope for VitualBoyFreak. Thanks again for the support my friends. Stay tuned! Baby Squid Studios is here to stay and my goal will always be to make neat little games, regardless of how much recognition they get.
My strategy for that is since there are two shoot buttons, I use them both. If there's someone hidden behind the right button, I shoot with the left button and viceversa. I also use both fingers to move the scope around. @BabySquidStudios: thanks for that special scope
Been having a *blast* with this! Great controls and intense pixel sniping = win! NOEN's Twitter post several days ago got me interested so I checked it out. So glad I did! Great job, Baby Squid Studios! PS - some Game Center achievements would be more than welcomed, but I'm certainly enjoying my 2nd place position (make that 4th) on the leaderboard.
As much as I actually REALLY like this game I really wish there was a way to pay to get rid of the forced interstitial ads. I want to pay! Also as to the touch controls I like them but they aren't sensitive enough. I have to lift my finger and scroll again to make it from one side of the screen to the other. Can you please implement a sensitivity slider ? If you could address the above two things I would easily give this 5 stars. I really do love everything else about the game. No two games are the same. I love all the reticles and scopes you can win. I love that you can easily use either hand for whatever you want to do. Billy
Really awesome game! Sad to hear about the lack of downloads. Its definitely not an issue with quality just need to get the game out there. If the twitter share feature was working that would defog help generate some buzz. TA do an article maybe? Anyways the game really is great got a few mates to download it for high score competition. Best of luck to the developer it really is one of the best endless games I've played recently.
You are spot on! I have a lot of people on Twitter because I share all my games. Especially games that I'm beta testing. People love seeing stuff in Twitter. Also TA should do a review. This game is really that good. Just need to add a way to get rid of the forced ads. The game definitely will take a hit on that. That's the only reason I didn't go with 5 stars. Billy
