with 3DS and the few minutes announced PSP2 coming this year do you think iGaming will suffer a big fall? 3DS has great graphics now together with what people loved with the DS and it also now feature glases free 3D PSP2/NGP will have PS3 graphics,rear-front cameras, capacitive touch screen(front screen & rear panel) accelorometer, gyroscope,GPS,compass and a lot more now what does iDevices have that they don't have? so what you think?
Portability. Cheaper, more casual games. Its always with me no matter what. Pretty much the same advantages it always had over the DS and PSP.
And when the killer games will come out for the PSP2, like GTA, Uncharted, Gran Turismo, etc. you will probably buy one too. YOu won't admit it now, but you know by yourself that the sheer class of the games is much more above than the iGames.
I bought a PS3. Have one game I bought with it. Loved it. Still never got any other game. You gotta understand that not everyone likes the same games.
The >4 million sales of Monster Hunter, Uncharted etc. will prove you wrong, the mass market for full featured portable games won't care about your opinion. Why can't people not just admit that the games on the iDevices are not that great like the PSP games? Why disguise it in such fancy words like yours above? And the 30-40 damn good casual games of the iPhone will be ported to the PSP anyway, Fieldrunners is out for example for PSP already, Edge too, etc. The elite casual games will be ported to the PSP, Sony will lobbying this.
IMNS is right but PSP2/NGP now only lacks phone functionality all the casual games like angry birds, cut the rope i'm sure will be available soon on the Playstation store and i think there won't be any article from now on that will say mobile is the best gaming device though i LOVE igaming so i hope i'm wrong
I think I'll definitely end up with the NGP but I do think the price of ipod titles is a big plus for the platform it's true the majority of igames don't have the same depth but there is still a big market for them and probably always will be. I do see apple adding better hardware in the next few years and the price of the igames steadily rising as well in a few years it might be hard to tell the difference. I think Sony took a big shot at apple today though maybe even more so than they did with nintendo but I think apples pretty safe unless Sony does something pretty major with the PSN store.
Why does one have to "end" for another to exist? I think all three systems are capable of co-existing with each other and people will go with the one that best fits their need.
It's safe to say that there will be a low price (1 dollar, 2 dollar), high volume system on the PSP2 like on the app store, too. Even today there are PSP minis for 2-3 dollars. And if you look at 2010s sales of monster hunter, there will be a market for rich games in the PSP universe still there. Sony won't make that error, they will add app discount market like all the app store one dollar stuff to the PSP universe. This time they are coming hard
A passionated gamer has all major consoles, I have so many friends which owns a PS3 and a Xbox and a DS and a PSP etc. (PS and Xbox combo is so often) There is nothing to shame about that. I have no problem to have a iPhone and a PSP with me, even today i carry always the GO and my iPhone with me.
I didnt say psp2/3DS will not succeed or games wont sell there. I said its not going to damage (and definitely not kill) iOS gaming. So not sure what exactly are you leaving for time to tell me here. iOS is going to keep on selling even if there arent games per se. And as long as there is such a huge and expanding market out there, there Will be games for it. And good ones too. BFBC2. Saw a video kamazar posted here on the forums. Couldnt resist it coz graphics looked so cool. Good thing game turned out to be great too so I dont really regret buying the PS3 even if just for that one game. But in the end, it took me months to actually finish the game coz I rarely, if ever, sit in from of TV and play games on it. Even for iPad/iPod I mostly end up playing 10-15 min max. So I perfer my games casual which I can pick up and play anytime I want. And if I dont like the game, oh well, I only lost a few bucks at most. That pretty much confirms that iGaming isnt going to End any time soon. Doesnt it?
I aggree, that is why I will keep my iPhone, but will probably play more on the PSP2 because I think it will attract enthusiasm of developers in a big way. I think we are on the same side? I am just more impassioned about the PSP2?
I don't think Sony will handle it that way. It took YEARS before the PS3 got profitable, in the beginning Sony LOST with every sold PS3 money because they where pushing it extremly aggressive in the price. You can be sure, that Sony will again be extremly aggresive with the pricing of the PSP2 and won't have a problem with losing money in the begining (only, PS3 is profitable now) on hardware sales.
Oh good gravy. So what you're saying is you have no idea what makes the iPhone popular. These console warrior threads are the worst.
Sony will push social gaming even more with the psp2, the whole design gets new, look on the pictures, the sytem screen consists now also of an array of combs. Sony will push the casual market, too, and won't forget rich games. I think Sony nailed exactly that was made iOS gaming so big. Apple got with the iPhone on the third wave of computing, go see interviews with John Doerr of Kleiner Perkins. Appwise the only pushing thing is games, games are more important than everything in the app store, of corse they are not 100 %, but the most important. Sony seems to nail exactly that, be on top on that third social wave, and and nail gaming as always they did with their PS products. This is no fanboy war here, I just layed out my arguments why I think PSP2 will be better and also "got it" that what is important in iOS and drives the platform. With 3G connectivity you can expect also apps for the PSP2, there will be facebook etc.
Again, what made iOS gaming big is going completely over your head. Hint: Look at the cost of entry for developers.
