Good evening Touch Arcade! In the recent months there has been a explosion of emulators on the Apple platforms. Apparently because Apple now allow emulation on its platforms. (Or have been forced to by the EU?). For us that have no real experiance with emulation and want to give it a spin. Advise. (( Don’t discuss where to get ROMs (GAMES fyi) and stuff like that, as I understand that downloading a ROM of a game that you don’t own personally is illegal. )) Here I want a discussion of emulation on iOS/iPadOS in general, how it works, what to get and what is the best, pros and cons - and so on and so forth. No question is too dumb, we are all beginners in the beginning. So what to download and where to start? A google search gives me this: ( https://www.google.com/search?q=emulators+on+ios&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=sv-se&client=safari ) PPSSPP, iNDS, Provenance, corellium inc, RetroArch, Delta, Dolphin, Nintendo DS, Eclipse, GBA4iOS, Appetize.io LLC A not very good wiki about emulation on iOS: https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Emulators_on_iOS So, for me as a total noob on emulation, what emulator should I go with? I want something simple that doesn’t require me to make a lot of settings. I want something that just work right out of the box without a mess.
I daily play Ridge Racer (PSX) on Gamma (iPhone 15 Pro). Still missing scanline overlays (should come), but i like no loading times and the very clear gui of Gamma. Works also with backbone controller. Greetz Chris
I missed this . I would start with PPSSPP and Delta. Both are easy to use and most games will work well without messing with settings. Plus, the catalogues are extensive and the games play well on an iPhone-size screen.
I think Delta is a superb emulator, works on a fair few systems. Very easy to use And i know the next dodgy question is 'where do i get roms?' but surely anyone who can use Google can simply find sites to use. Love playing the old Gameboy games on my phone, love it !!
