That's obviously because of the two hour timeframe. As I said, two hours may be a bit long and abused. I found the 15 minutes to be ok to get a good first impression. Especially for mobile games.
Back on topic... this game is a real pleasure to play. The turn based interface is fast and the game runs smoothly. The story is interesting and the graphics are polished. Two thumbs up!
Appshopper isnt reflecting any changes in prices but the game been changing pretty frequently 6.99 -> 9.99 -> 6.99 The game is okay for trpg... Dont expect tight controls...
bought this in the morning since someone who said they were gonna give impressions never did and I couldn't resist either way lol it's really great. it's a tactics rpg like final fantasy tactics, fire emblem, and disgaea. the voice acting is all in chinese with english subtitles and i have to say it's pretty good english still some mistakes here and there. there is leveling up, getting new characters, class system, etc like you expect from a tactics game. don't expect a game of grand scale like final fantasy tactics though but it's still great for iOS. the graphics are really colorful and is a chibi art style kind of like world of final fantasy but lower quality. your heroes make funny faces when attacking. still great nonetheless. though the controls and moving the camera around is kind of a pain. you can save anytime you want. looked up the dev that made this and they are legit they been making games since the 90s.
I said I would report back later. Which doesn't specify exactly when later is. I'm not going to leave any impressions on the game if I don't have enough time to play it because I'm usually very busy. Once I put in more play time I'll come back and leave my impressions. Other people in fact did leave impressions in the previous pages.
That looks pretty darn good for iOS version. How's the controls? I found that in FF tactics the control system was very clunky on iOS. Hopefully it's a little better in here?
Spent about 3 hours in the game so far. It's a pretty high quality turned based RPG game. The mechanics are pretty simple so if you're expecting to stack your troops next to each other for some crazy combos, you'll be better off sticking with disgaea and such. But for iOS, the system is simple to pick up and straight forward. Graphics are nice, retina resolution on my ipad, no choppiness or lag and levels load quick. Tons of voice acting (in Mandarin) so that explains why the game is so big. As mentioned above, camera controls are a little weird. You can pinch and pull to zoom in and out and rotate camera but it's not the most intuitive. The good news is that you can do the entire battles without messing with the camera once. Trees and stuff will become transparent when they're "in the way". In games like final fantasy tactics when a building gets in the way of the camera, you're out of luck and you HAVE to rotate, luckily you don't need to deal with that here. As for the fanservice part, it's not as much as I thought from what I've seen so far. You got your slightly underdressed characters which is nothing out of the ordinary. The only really fanservicey parts are when you defeat an enemy their clothing/armor explodes and then the enemy disappears. Honestly, writing it out is much more extreme than how it actually is in action. If you like SRPG games and want something that's not overly stressful or overly complex, get this game. The game doesn't take itself seriously. After all you got archers pulling their arrow (actually plungers) out of asian styled squat toilets and shooting it at the enemies. If you're looking for a Disgaea or FF Tactics, then you should look elsewhere. But then again, this game doesn't cost anywhere near the regular price of FF Tactics as far as iOS game prices go.
Nice, I have played the very first Empire of Angels on DOS, it was a good game. Glad to see an old title brought back to a new platform, and still has its charm.
To clarify: when I said "fan service" I didn't mean that there was anything obscene or outrageous about it -- far from it. It's just gratuitous and kind of embarrassing. It doesn't ruin the game, by any means. But I though people would want a heads up before they encounter a half-naked chibi girl.
Heh to be honest I was hoping it would be more crazy along the lines of senran kagura. Was disappointed the fan service bit happens on screen for only 2 seconds. But I suppose anything more would be flagged for Apple to take down.
I was following this thread and wasn't the game originally $6.99? Guess that maybe was a launch sale?
Yea I think I picked it up for 6.99, stealth launch sale. Wish the devs would promote the game on this thread some.
Double post since this thread is super buried. Where in the world do you spend gold? Doesn't seem there's any equipment in this game and no main town. Is there any point in the currency in this game?
you use the gold to change your characters job or upgrade to a stronger type in its current "Job Tree"
Does it work normally? Did it translate well in English? I liked this second series. It does not seem to have been updated since its release. Thank you in advance.
Maybe that's okay. I've looked at some of the reviews in some of the country's app store, but I don't think I've seen any reports of any errors.
