Ixion cards showcased so far! Our guardian card Qinglong will be revealed this thursday! Feedback / Comments always welcome.
Thank you Xatu! Also good luck with the Eminence contest entry. We are excited to reveal our guardian card Qinglong for thursday, as well as news on a game trailer which will be unveiled very soon.
I *hate* F2P because it is very rarely done right.... However having said that the artwork alone earns you a chance to prove yourself. Looking forward to release
Hi Xexist! Thank you for your comments. It's true, there are a lot of games in the wild who abuse the F2P model and impose a pay to win structure. We don't plan to follow the same road. Eminence: Xander's Tales can be enjoyed completely without paying. We put the game first so our players will have the best experience. We follow the same format as every other TCGs by employing an ethical system where cards can additional be purchased through packs. However, they can also be gained through the story mode by completing story line quests, PVP, tournaments etc. So players can still enjoy the game without paying a penny.
I'm sorry, but that's not right. Your team spends all this time on a product, and someone can enjoy every aspect an not pay? Is it because this is a mobile platform and people are slower to spend money?
It's a marketting strategy. They allow everyone to initially buy the game for free. Then they offer multiple ways to get more cards for play in the game. One way is the "easy" way and that is to just pay for them. The other is to "earn" them through things you accomplish in the game itself. The theory is there will be enough of a community built by the people that do not want to pay anything, that those that are willing to pay will want to stay and keep spending money to keep up with them. Some companies balance this to where those willing to pay can even way surpass those that are not paying, and those are your "pay2win" games. They even go so far as to only make the REALLY powerful cards available by purchase, with either actual money or a "premium" currency of some kind. Other companies keep the balance more even, so that those that do not pay actually have a chance against those that have even paid a great deal. But make no mistake, it's all about keeping those that are paying playing.
Yeah, this market is strange. My biggest example is Second Chance Heroes. It had amazing production values and the IAP system was more than fair, and it still didn't do well.
Thank you for all your comments and interest regarding this topic. As highlighted before, our main goal for Eminence is to provide an outstanding TCG/RPG experience. Because of this we put the game first and ensure it can be enjoyed without having to pay. With regards to monetization, we employ an ethical pricing structure commonly found in nearly all TCGs. Cards can additionally be purchased in the marketplace. One of the main reasons for this move was to literally try to replicate the real world analogy of giving players the option to purchase trading card packs, as you would from a local store for a popular collectible card game. To strengthen this analogy and prevent the situation of players who pay for cards gaining an advantage, we randomise the distribution of cards in a fair and efficient system which replicates the real world experience. When you pay for a pack of cards in a store you don't know what you're going to get and the same applies with Eminence. Hello MrMojoRisin and welcome aboard the Eminence thread! The simple mechanics of Triple Triad have inspired the core mechanics for the CBS (Card Battle System) in Eminence: Xander's Tales. However, Eminence has it's own unique rules and features. The game encompasses a progressive storyline and a real time open world. The CBS is effectively the game's battling system where PvP challenges take place as well as battles with story line enemies/bosses. We will be revealing more in depth information regarding its rules & features in a play book available to download soon. Now, as promised we are proud to showcase thursdays card reveal; Introducing Qinglong - Guardian of Judgement and the final card of the Ixion Division.
Qinglong looks really well done!! I'm so happy EDIT: Will you guys explain the numbers on the sides of the cards eventually?
Thank you Rafy211! We plan to release an in depth 'How to play' section on our website very soon. In a nutshell, the numbers on each side represents the cards strength. The higher it is, the better and rarer the card. Hello mikeworld, 4 stars is the highest rank in the game, for now.
Our customizable avatars thus far! We plan to showcase more in the forthcoming weeks. Each set of division avatars relate to the card divisions in terms of style and aesthetics. Images in order of divisions; Ixion / Aeterna.
This is looking amazing! I can't wait to play! BTW I absolutly loved Triple Triad and have been looking for any card game to copy or use a similar format! So you have one player for life.
