1. change their model as in most likely (guessing here) doing a FULL game with no in-app purchaing 2. No, get new servers from the money they have, not necessarily rely on in-app purchases 3. i think they'll make tons of money, mostly b/c the reasons in my previous posts.
whats with beachmusic, i've seen him mentioned quite a bit lately. Care to explain bat? in a PM, if its too off-topic.
1. Why risk so much on a GOOD game? Shouldn't they at least test it with a *decent* game first? If Eliminate really is as good as they say, then it's not worth this huge risk. 2. So basically you're telling me they are losing money? Eventually NGmoco will get tired of having to buy more and more servers, and Eliminate will be dropped. 3. I don't think so.
It all comes down to #3. You, in your personal opinion don't think they'll succeed, and expanding, Hodapp, arn, Ngmoco, and I do. That's essentially what we're arguing. You ask why, we answer, you ask why again, we answer. I can understand you not agreeing with their decision. But as far as your questions. 1. If it is as big a game as they think, they payoff will be huge. Whether they should test it or not is up to them and they've decided that its not worth it to "test it out". 2. Ok this doesnt make sense, why you ask? simple. It's a developing cost, not so much as losing money. It's an investment, it'll either pay off or not. For a game like this, not having servers would most certainly be a downfall. 3. your personal opinion which you're entitled to. But as far as your questions go, they've been answered. I'd like to hear some more from you. Instead of saying that they're going to fail. Why do you think they'll fail. We've all told you why we think they'll succeed. It seems like your biggest argument are server costs, which has been addressed. The next biggest reason is b/c of in-app purchasing. Again, statistically speaking there's a percentage that WILL buy in-app purchasing. Ngmoco is taking a gamble this percentage will be big. What other reasons do you have for thinking this game will fail?
OK, well, you managed to stick with me. The pieces are set and the sides are determined! We'll see how it turns out in another month, as I think we've debated this as far as it will go. I pray to GOD it does well, I really want it to!
awesome. Yea let's hope it does well. As i mentioned before, if it does well, we'll see a lot more games like this. Imagine the possibilities ....TCG's MMORPG's, etc..
Be honest...no you don't Ok... I'll go to sleep since the game won't come out for another week or so... All we can do is wait and see. If it fails it fails if not that's great. I for myself am looking forward to playing it soon. That's about it.
Well I want it too, and I don't want it too. I want it to do well so I can have fun playing it, but I want it to do poorly so I can brag. Either way it's a win-win for me!
i personally don't think this app will fail, here's why: - there will probably be a percentage of people who will regularly buy in-app purchases (i estimate around 5%-15% of the frequent players) - since this game will most likely be downloaded by millions of people, tons of devs are, most likely, willing to pay large amounts of money for an "in-game promotional banner." NgMoco probably knows that and will most likely charge a large sum of money for a dev to have one. - there are in-app surveys where most people are just going to think: "ill just spend a few minutes of my time to get some energy." this will probably be the most popular seeing as how the user will get energy without paying a cent, and ngmoco will still make money from it. (id say that at least 30% of the frequent players will do this). the problem will come when everyone has bought everything they possibly could and the only income will be from the "in-game promotional banners." however, ngmoco could just add armors and weapons with updates.
I think the big question is how much time will a dollar buy? Is this a days worth, week, month, year?
Actually if ngmoco immediately dropped the price to free after Apple allowed free apps to have DLC, one can assume it would be priced at a dollar if it came out when Apple did not allow free apps to have DLC, am I correct to say so?
