NOVA is easier to get into and easier to keep playing for like 20 min on the level you like and then just quit without waiting...most people don't want to spend time learning controls...so I guess most people will go with NOVA... Eliminate is more Pro though... you need to spend some time and level up... after some time you really need to know the controls in order to survive, most people will get frustrated too soon and switch to NOVA since it's a one-time payment and something you own... with Eliminate is like you have the feeling you could spend a million bucks on it and the day will come where you are left without energy again. Both games will still exist and have their fanbases... Eliminate is more like Quake/Unreal....Nova is like Halo. Both games have their fanbases too.
Cant compare both. I always considered Eliminate a casual FPS that i can play on the go, on my break time, on the bus, etc. I love the fact i can play while waiting at a long cashier line at the grocery market. I like how the maps are "condensed" and there is a limit to how long a match is. I have yet to have had any real issues on my 3G with connecting to a game, framerate, crashes, bugs and i have yet to experience any inbalance with the weapon's damage they can inflict. It's free, i have yet to pay a single dollar for credits as i play as a casual player (maybe 10-15 matches a day) so for me this is the perfect FPS for me. I do have wishes for some changes but overall Eliminate is a well developed game for the iPhone. Now for Nova, i got it yesterday and i am impressed. Gameloft did a great job, the controls are smooth and easy to use (but i need to adjust as i got used to Eliminate controls). I have been playing in Campaign mode and its great but i have yet to test out the multiplayer feature: It seems i cannot play over my 3G network. That said, i cant play outside of my wifi connection which i think is a drawback (unless i am mistaken and someone can explain to me how to enable for 3G) but actually this game isn't casual, this is hardcore gaming and this is why Gameloft has a hit here; they raised the bar. Mind you they need to get more creative once they run out of properties to clone from That being said: you can play both. Get NOVA and pay 6.99 and get Eliminate for free and dont pay a dime
I'm going with NOVA. Only drawbacks with NOVA is that the Online Multiplayer mode can't be played on 3G/EDGE even with 3GUnrestrictor and also you cannot create private rooms to play with your friends or doesn't even have a proper friendlist to begin with lol. Nevertheless, NOVA really beats Eliminate hands down..
Couple very simple reasons why NOVA > Eliminate imo. 1. NOVA has campaign mode 2. No pansy auto-fire (that I'm aware of at least) 3. You get to actually pick up weapons off the map instead of having to rack up and buy them, to be able to play on even ground. 4. You get to actually choose which map you want to play online The area I think Eliminate currently has an edge is with the powerups. I think Eliminates powerups > NOVA's.
I don't care what everyone raves about sonny. I'm expressing my own opinions and happen to like the beserker shield.
Did you enjoy playing it on the bus? How is that possible? i cant even enjoy it at home, even if it is free, I dont like to play with unbalanced garbage. On the other hand, mmmmm...... NOVA rocks.
Nova NOVA has a story AND multiplayer, plus way better graphics than anything in ELiminate. However, Eliminate has more to shoot for, with more unlockable gear and everything. The multiplayer on Eliminate is stronger too. But NOVA, like MCS, will most likely get a multiplayer fix update to patch up all the weird spots. Eliminate is good for multiplayer fun whenever, but NOVA steals the show as a more complete game that doesn't need Wi-Fi to have a blast with.
Eliminate's matching was a bit off. I was level 15 and it kept matching me with level 22s and stuff because my skill was higher but they had the huge suits and it got annoying. I like the even playing field and maps in Nova a lot more. The graphics and controls are also better in Nova and it includes grenades and snipers. Even though I'd rather support Ngmoco I think NOVA really tops eliminate. To everybody that complains about gameloft updates... 1. Most of their games haven't needed updates 2. When there are big glitches and graphics improvements they DO update 3. Notice that eliminate has only come out with 1 update for eliminate.
Eliminate, Eliminate, Eliminate.. It has a shop, it has customization, upgrades, all of these = DEPTH. Something that i believe Nova lacks.
I don't know about that. I'll take the depth of a campaign over some frivolous, MMO'ish customization any day.
I thought these games were for the multiplayer? Who wants to play a game where all you do is mindlessly shoot people if it's not about competition?
The title of this thread is Eliminate or NOVA, not Eliminate multiplayer vs. NOVA multiplayer. I don't think it is out of scope for this thread to mention the campaign. Are you suggesting people should completely disregard the campaign simply because there is multiplayer? That would be pretty foolish imo. My point was, I prefer a multiple-hour campaign/story mode over frivolous customization and upgrades. The whole competition is based on how fast you can level up and have an advantage over the other players. That's not what I consider competition.
No, im suggesting single player FPSes are boring. And shallow. This is exactly what turned me off of Modern Combat, and i KNOW Halo, while less cliche, is no different, and since NOVA is a Halo-clone...
I guess we have different interpretations of boring then. You should try taking the difficulty off Easy
