According to legend, only 100 people bought copies of the original pressing of Velvet Underground's first album, but each of those 100 people started a band. Seems to me that only about 100 people bought Ferrari GX, but those people always show up whenever the words Gameloft and online are strung together. I really wish the company had just been upfront and come forward with the obvious truth: Ferrari GX was a big, stinking failure for Gameloft, and it make no business sense to throw good money after bad and invest on online multiplayer for a money-loser. Instead they just backed away and pretended that they never made any promises. This was definitely a scummy move, but it has nothing to do with whether Modern Combat, one of their most successful franchise, will actually get online multiplayer. My guess is that they're developing a single common infrastructure for both Nova and Modern Combat, with both releasing at around the same time.
I'm not sure I buy Gameloft's promises of Sandstorm multiplayer either. Mostly because (aside from their history) I don't think it provides much financial payoff for the work required, especially so long after the game's original release. You're essentially diverting time and resources from other, potentially lucrative projects to develop this content for people that have already bought the game. It's possible a multiplayer addition might draw new sales, but how many? Especially now that there is plenty of competition when it comes to online gaming on the iPhone. Additionally, Nova is supposed to have online play, and adding multiplayer to Sandstorm might negate some people's interest in Nova if they already own MC. At the same time, it seems unlikely they'd lie about working on a mp component. One area Gameloft will need to nail is network play over 3G. That's the big selling point for Eliminate IMO.
The catch is that the promise is still in the app-description! Why didn´t they take it off??? A lot of people complained throughout this year in various forums. Are they trying to purposely fool people??? And now it looks like history repeats itself. Promises, Promises and nobody has ever seen proof of a working online multiplayer despite the one in that soccer game. Well, if that´s their idea of online multiplayer, i don´t see a reason to look forward to other Gameloft online multiplayer offerings.
They should definitely take it off the app description -- that's just asking for it. That said, I would be very, very surprised if we don't see a working online multiplayer system on MC:S.
Seriously? I think it`s a pretty good game and a lot of fun (provided you dont compare it to online FPS on PC and Consoles). The only problem I have so far is that unless you`re playing it with friends, it`ll match you up against much higher skilled players and you`d keep getting killed everytime. Once it releases worldwide, this problem will be solved too as there will be a lot more players online.
hey cool it down, im not saying Gameloft didnt say multiplayer was coming, what im saying is that its highly unlikely that it will actually come to be, going by the bull shit Gameloft always say. Like others have said above, with nova coming out why would they bother? And where is the point in comparing Eliminate and Modern Combat, Modern Combat IS NOT online so where's is the sense in comparing performance/gameplay, of course MC is faster as its not doing what Eliminate is doing. How many times were you dropped on your head as a child if you took you so long to setup an alternate itunes account? really? and if thats your argument that it took longer to setup than the time actually spent playing the game then shut the f_*k up. With the exception of Earthworm Jim, all gameloft do is pump out half ass'd shite
I agree that the controls are not excellent by any means. I think the hype has overshadowed what the game actually is in terms of greatness. I think it is the best FPS online multiplayer, at this point. I am glad that they added bot play offline just incase you wanted a "Fix" mid day while at the office. Where as I am glad it is finally here, I am always excited about what apps are "Coming Soon".

Yeah, but how many have bought the extra energy? That is the real question. I, personally, don't really see the need in buying extra energy, the game isn't THAT fun.
I was going to post this in the main thread but ill probably do it here. I dont really care whether or not Eliminate is free or not, i found it massively disappointing. Its just a generic quake 3 mod with some mmo-esque elements with godawful controls. The amount of time/money required to get any variety in the game just doesnt seem worth it. But yeah i would have been all for it but its a complete chore to play, i think i had more fun with iFps online
These controls are great if you're used to dual virtual sticks. I never had any trouble acclimating to them and they felt more natural than MC's ever did.

Who says that no one wants to hear any complaints??? As far as I know, this is a game discussion forum, and guess what the OP is doing?? I for one I am also deeply disappointed with this game. Control are really annoying, while I haven't had any problems before with MC Sandstrom, Doom Classic, or Wolf 3d, I am finding this one very hard to control. And to wait who many more hours for a recharge is ridiculous, and the prices are extremely high. I guess that many people here would prefer to buy the game as an upfront free only instead of having to pay a lot if you want to have any upgrades, or wait two hours to play again. I am deeply disappointed by this game, and I won't be playing this any more. Had good potential, has great graphics, but gameplays is tedious and the ways to get upgrades are ridiculous, 30 bucks for energy??????? YEAH RIGHT!
Eliminate is crap. And I got banned because I am not Politically Correct AND PROUD. The BNP is the only way forward. Any other party will do nothing about PC or immigrants. Support the BNP, Support England's heritage and future.
