Yeah, this happens when you join a game late.

 

its already been said that if u join a round already in progress u dont lose any energy because u didnt get the full game experience

i figure this is worth mentioning, i know that if u join a game in progress, u dont lose energy, however a lil bit ago i joined a game already in progress, leveled up, but my energy got spent anyways. :/
